View 4 RepliesI'm a new PaintShop Pro X4 user. I Just downloaded a test version and i'm thinking of buying it, but now there's a slight problem.
I own a new Canon Powershot G1X camera and raw-files shot with it don't seem to open correctly in PaintShop Pro X4. The Colors are all wrong.
have PSP X4. RAW files from my new G15 have colors totally scrambled so I suspect yet another rev of Canon's CR2 format. See CR2 & JPG thumbnails, attached.
Satisfied with X4 and rather not upgrade now. Have installed Canon's "Digital Photo Professional" which correctly reads the CR2s. Rather work in PSP; Canon's app can save RAW as
Exif-TIFF 8bit
TIFF 16bit
and both in combo with Exif-JPEG
will TIFF 16 bit preserve the RAW data and then I could edit in PSP? Other alternatives?
know if X4 will or does support the RAW files of the Canon 5d Mark3? It's a new camera, and DPP (Canon's own software) is having difficulty processing RAW (Image Softness) from the mk3.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen managing images, I am found some difficulties on handling tags.
The main problem is that PSP is creating tags automatically to all images I have. It is especially undesirable because a plenty of images come from internet, fotolia etc and have tags I don't want. So, my "desirable" tags are mixing with the "undesirable".
a) I tried to find out in PSP "preferences" any option to stop tagging automatically. And I couldn't find it.
b) Other problem is to delete the tags I don't want. If I delete the tag in tags tree (manage/collection) it appears again. The only way I found is deleting tag by tag, image by image, what is madness of doing to a plenty of images.
Any way of deleting the "main" tag in order to delete automatically the related tag in each image?
understand the impact of the options “Save for Office” / “Copy for professional printing”.I am writing a thesis through Microsoft Word and I use a plenty of images. Normally, I handling the images in PSP and I insert it in Word through “insert picture from file”.
I realized PSP has the mentioned resources to handle images to Office applications. I intend to print Microsoft Word obtaining the best image quality of my pictures. Is “Save for Office” or “Copy for professional printing” worth using?
Many times I take images through PSP “screen capture”. So, if I use in PSP “Copy for professional printing” and paste in Word, will it improve the final document printing?
I shoot with the Canon 40D. The Raw processor in PSPX4 is showing an anomaly when converting my 40D files raw files. When I initially load raw images, and when the image is displayed, it is shown at one setting. Then in 3 seconds, its updated again showing a 1 stop darker, desaturated and less sharper image. Each time I click on another image on the bottom column, same thing. The new image is displayed, then 3 seconds later the same thing happens. There is a noticable difference when I view the same photo in Canon DPP. The PSPX4 Raw File just looks terrible. This does not happen when I edit a JPEG that has already been converted.
How do I stop PSP4X Raw from doing the second update?
I am running into an issue trying to complete processing of some images. I have converted a Canon CR2 raw file to TIFF, then opened into PSP X4. Now I wish to save as a JPG file. I've flattened & converted to 8-bit RGB. When I go to save it pops up an error stating: "An error has occurred while trying to write to the file". I can save the TIFFs, I can save to PNG, PSP, BMP, and presumably everything else. All except JPG--which is of course what is required. I can create an image from scratch and save to JPG. I've tried simply copying the image and pasting to a new image, then saving with the same error. Same with opening the PSP image back up & trying to save as JPG. I am updated to the latest patch just released.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using Paint Pro X5 and I have a Canon MX700 printer. The colors from my PaintShop pics are awful when I print them. They don't look anything like the picture in PaintShop. Is there a way or a software program I can use to calibrate the colors between PaintShop and my printer so what I print looks like what's on my PaintShop screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedX4 SP2 is supposed to add RAW support for the Canon S100 and Panasonic FZ150 cameras (I own both.) However, after installing SP2 neither of these RAW file formats can be edited. I tried dumping the Temp folder, but no joy. I tried calling Tech. Support and all I get is "Tech Support is not Available at this time." In the middle of the work day?! The About popup says I'm running Ver. 14.2.0.1. I'm not sure the update has taken.
View 14 Replies View RelatedIs there an easy way (program) to prevent duplicate file names when transferring pics via card readers from multiple Canon EOS devices which all have the same filename format "IMG-xxxx". Specifying downloads to a dated folder name exacerbates the problem when combining the pics into a common folder at a later time. We have been manually renaming but this is becoming burdensome. Was wondering if PSP X4 has a front end downloading program that could handle this.

I just bought a Canon Pixma ip4920 printer, and I use Paint Shop Pro X4 - the problem i'm having is that what I see on scrren and what I get when printing a picture are totally different. My computer is a Dell Inspiron laptop. How to calibrating the colors to match?
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe Coreldraw Graphics Suite X5 is my first foray into this product since version 3 (way back when). PhotoPaint supports CR2 files.
Except that in my case it doesn't do so consistently. Files from my Canon 5D MkII occasionally open fine (just this evening, I started getting a problem withe these as well), but 7D files consistently crash the program and I have to exit.
I have SP3 installed.
This machine is a 6-month old 64-bit HP desktop (AMD multi-core processor) with 8 GB of RAM. Photoshop, Lightroom, Painter 12, and PSP X4 work without incident and open all supported files smoothly.
I have CDGSX4. I've been trying to edit some of my Canon Raw (CR2) files. However I get this purplish haze covering my images I think it has to do with the Raw File driver. I've noticed this with PSPX4 and also the trial version of CDGSX6.
The image is from a Canon T4i (650).
I am now shooting both digital and analog. When processing RAW files coming from my digital cameras, I don't have any problem with LR. But I am also scanning negative films and handling the resulting TIFF files in Lightroom. Since I have started this new workflow, I can be sure that Lightroom will crash at least once during a session. This can happen at any time when I'm in the Development module.
I'm running an Intel iCore 7 2600 PC under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with 8GB of memory and plenty of disk space.
Premiere Pro CC quits unexpectedly (serious error message) when importing footage. The formats I've tried and failed with include H.264, Prores422 and DNxHD. When I reopen a project containing one of these formats, it crashes again even if I click on one of the imported files. I'm using an early 2013 Macbook Pro and trying to edit Nikon D800 footage. At this point I'm not sure what other information I can provide.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn a seemingly random way, files occasionally just show up corrupted (thumbnail is white with an X in the center) and no longer open. Image info still shows up but the image is corrupted or lost. I do not have the Preserve feature (or whatever it's called) active, as it didn't seem to have an option to select where the preserved files are stored, and I don't want hundreds of MBs of image files to be stored by default on my small SSD C: drive, where my operating system is installed. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why these files disappear. I can not professionally trust a program that exhibits this behavior. Must I now store duplicate file sets, to be drawn from should X4 decide to corrupt my working files at random?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have paint Shop Pro X but for the files I am working on I have to use PSP 9 on XP (SP1). Trust me, after weeks writing back and forth to Corel and them testing our files it is the only way to open them. Our images are converted to .fpx using TrueSpectra which is now a relic from the past. PSP never had a problem with the .fpx files until XP service pack 2 was released and it then stopped opening them.
We have over 200,000 web images that are currently saved as fpx files (archaic I know and many of you won't have even heard of them let alone used them) that we are converting to a more adaptable and flexible pTIFF format (Pyramid TIFF). The pTIFF will allow us to include a path that can be used by Scene7 for various web functionality (movable transparent images).
, the real problem... What I am finding is that when I open some of the fpx files in Paint Shop Pro the products that are normally shown on white backgrounds are showing on black. It turns out that someone has managed to include transparency in the fpx file. I am unable to find a path, a channel mask or layers in the fpx file when opened in Paint Shop Pro. So how is what I always thought to be a flat image creating the selection that is filling with black?. Obviously, when the conversion to TIFF takes place it's rendering the image on a black background which is a problem.
I have tried un-checking "Render Transparency" under File format preferences (PostScript tab) but it made no difference.
If nothing else, is there was a way to make the black background fill in white instead. That would be fine.
I cannot edit .EMF files generated from PowerPoint 2007. I always obtain a blank image after introducing any resolution values at the input field. The same occurs with .WMF format. I need to import vectorial graphics from .PPT files with a specific resolution, and I do not see any other way to do that.
I have PaintShop Photo Pro X3 v.13.2.1.20 with last available patches and updates installed.
I downloaded PSPX4 from the Corel site where I bought it. It is in my Downloads folder instead of Program Files. Then I copied it to program files and it still isn't even in a folder called Corel. How do I get it where it should be? And, I cannot find all the folders then go with it, like tubes, brushes folders etc.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy AVI files will play and allow me to capture a frame but MP4 (my new cam) will not open in X5. I did get a warning that I needed to install Quicktime, which I have done and still won't work.......
The MP4 only shows the 1st frame of the video.I thought maybe PSP doesn't support MP4, but then I read this in help file:"Corel PaintShop Pro supports the video formats that are supported by your system."
I keep getting error that its not a proper psp file .... why is that? ... Is this normal?
I wish to take my work back to x3 version cause x4 is so buggered with png issues that its now impossible for me to work with it.
Paint shop pro 4. Patches up to date. I am unable to save files my files as .jpgs. I can save them as .psp files however. I was able to save them last week, so something has changed in my settings, but where to look. 10 years using PSP and I have to say...dislike all versions after PSP XI.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue as follows.
a) I have postscript (.ps) files for my company's logo which are in process color (CMYK).
b) These files open fine in PSP, and the colors are displayed properly. However, I understand that the files were actually converted to sRGB space, that is, I can't actually make changes in CMYK space, only in sRGB.
c) I need to make some changes to the logo, so I figured I would make the changes, then save a TIF file, using the CMYK space. My printer requires a CMYK file only.
d) Therefore, I simply saved the file opened in b) as a TIF file with a CMYK color space.
d) When I do the Save As in PSP, the file looks exactly like it did when first opened in PSP. (Update - if I close the TIF file in PSP, then reopen it, it does look different - greenish tinge, but not as bad as other viewers) But when I look at the file in other programs (IrfanView, MS Publisher, etc) the image is overly green, for example, my olive green logo components are almost bright green, and almost everything else seems to have a slightly greenish tint.
e) By comparison, if I open the postscript file in Irfanview, it renders correctly.
I thought Irfanview would input CMYK files (and apparently it does for .ps files) but my colors are wrong. Is this a TIF output issue with PSP? Or do I need to find another viewer to properly see the TIF file.

Sometimes after editing jpeg files in PaintShop Pro X5, attempting to save them raises an error and they can only be saved to a different file name. After closing out of PSP, the original file cannot be deleted in Windows Explorer. Shift-Delete removes the file from the list momentarily, but a refresh brings it back. Normal delete (to Recycle Bin) raises an error that admin authority is required, but clicking to proceed fails. Starting Windows Explorer as administrator does not resolve the problem. Process Explorer doesn't show PSP or any component of it that I recognize still running (and perhaps having exclusive control of the file). After a reboot, the file can be deleted. I have observed this problem on both machines where the software is loaded and registered. Both machines are malware-free. Both are running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. Could very well be a Windows problem, but I don't have a similar problem with files that are created or modified with any other application.

The raster layers from the PSD file come through fine.
