View 3 RepliesQuestion 1. How would I make a cartoon drawing/picture or a drawing/picture with color, Into a drawing with lines only, no color. I use the gray scale option and that works great, but it still has the shading of the drawing/picture, and I want lines only. So is there some what of a easy way to do this?
Question 2. Once having a line drawing if some of the lines are a little shaky or kinda looking to pixel ish, Is there a simple way to smooth these lines out?
I'm having problems to transform an architectural drawings done in 2D to 3D, and also when it comes to confirm and locate their respective courts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have used the free transform and/or transform scale many times, and have never had it leave a line. I must have changed something , but can't figure it out. Have played around with the refine edges, and can't seem to make it go away. I am using CS3, and make my selection, then go to stretch it. When I deselect, there is a thin line on the bottom of where the selection was. Why is this happening?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a series of photo's of artworks which were taken whilst hanging on a wall, I need to remove the shadow from the one side and edit out any blemishes such as pencil marks which are on the wall in the background, basically so it looks as if they're hanging on a plain white wall. They can't be cropped to having no background either.
I've tried blurring and pasting in sections of the wall where there's no shadow, but it doesn't look good. The pictures aren't dead centre either which makes it more difficult.
I'm fine with the basics of photoshop, but something slightly advanced like this
Last week I have made photo's of 140 different paintings. Some paintings were very big, some were very small, some where rectangle shape, some were square shape. All paintings were set upon a stand and I photographed all of them from my tripod. So you can understand that on some pictures I have large paintings and on some photos I have small paintings.
Now I want to remove everything around the painting so that my photo ONLY shows the painting (even the border around the painting has to be removed).
First I select only the painting. Then I inverse my selection and remove it. So I'm now left with a photo of only the painting. So far no problem. Then I select the painting and with CTRL T I place the 'reference point location to the upper left corner and than set the height to 2000px. The painting now becomes 2000px high, but the width isn't corrected so I click on the 'maintain aspect ratio' and the painting is okay. This is now done with (for example a square painting).
But when I now perform this action on a rectangle painting, the end-result is a square painting.
I have several photographs of amateur paintings that were taken with some kind cheap camera that distorts the edges, making them curved.
I want to straighten those edges and then crop the photo so it'll be just the painting.
I'm fairly new to Illustrator and have been going through a lot of tutorials on using the program with the goal of converting a number of paintings into vector artwork.
I can't seem to find any techniques for shade and color what I have so far.
Here is the original, which I used as a tracing template:
And here is what I have managed to do so far in Illustrator, exported as a PNG:
How would I go about achieving the blend of coloring in the front blue wave? I have tried gradient meshes, but they don't handle the curves of the waves very well.
Any tips on the techniques I could use to color this artwork.
Below is a screenshot of something that sometimes happens when using the Mask Transform tool in Photo-Paint X5 (Home & Student). It only does it when dragging the mask from the right. Is this a known phenomenon? Can anything be tried to overcome it? I wondered it might be anything to do with graphics card compatibility ..or just my computer in some other respect.

What I want to do is, take away the wolf body and background. Then I want to make his face sorta fade with a gold lining of his face. SO it wouldn't be exact detail, but you know it's the face of a wolf, with cool gold out lines and lines on the inside and stuff. With like faded areas for cool effect.
View 5 Replies View Relatedhow to get them clean and crisp? black ink drawings is what im scannin in, ive figured this much out; scan it in at a high resolution (i scaned in at 600dpi), scan it in grayscale, mess with the levels. the overall goal is to scan in a line drawing and color it.
im trying to get the lines to be a uniform solid black. ionno if this is something i should try to get when im actually drawing it or something that is best left to PS. it looks pretty good on paper but when i got it in PS the lines are not as solid as i thought.
Any ideas how to convert photos to line drawings? The best I've come up with so far is greyscale, then filter / stylize / find edges. Not bad .... but I think I could do better.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a newbie to Illustrator. I have scanned in a drawing and opened in illustrator. As it was a jpeg, I then image traced it to turn into vectors - it looks very messy, is there a better way?
I now want to colour parts of it in, but it only allows me to use black, white or gradients in between, how do I add colour? The document colour mode is RGB.
I have a little issue with drawings where I cannot find out how to highlight fillet edges on the models. I dare say I am missing some simple setup option.
The picture attached shows what I mean. The left is how the model looks in drawing mode and on the right is how I would like it to look (taken from the modelling environment).
It's possible to select a part in a view on a 2D drawing and change the color of all the lines belonging to that part.
This is really useful, but is there a way of assigning a line color to the .ipt file it's self, so that every time I place a view of that part the lines are automatically set to specified color?
This would also be useful within a single drawing when there are multiple views of the same assembly. e.g.
Part A would always be drawn in Red, Part B would always be green. This would really distinguishing between parts in complex assemblies. (Which I realise can be done manually but I think it could be done faster with less chance of making mistakes.) Currently, I color all the parts, but then if I make an additional view, the new view is all in black.
I have an iassembly model with iparts in it. I am trying to make one absolutely complete model rather than have several models with redundant parts in it. For example having the full assembly and making a Top Line Drawing from that, but then also making a drawing from the individual components.
So for example I have a Top Line assembly drawing with a tank with all the fittings, gauges, and instrument panels shown. Then I would want to make another set of drawings showing the tank itself, fittings, gauges, and the instrument panel. My main issue is with the tank drawing; the tank drawing is supposed to be simply the tank so I would need to remove the fittings, gauges, instrument panel etc.
I would like to know if there is a way to "Hide" or "Supress" the components that I do not need for a particular drawing without taking them out of the model; yet at the same time removing it from the BOM because they wont be necessary at this level.
I am using live paint to paint cartoon character illustrations. The artwork is brought into Illustrator CS3 and live traced. Then I convert it to a live paint group and use the paint bucket to fill. Everything looks fine no matter how much I zoom in. If I bring the AI file into Photoshop CS6 I can see a thin white line between the black line art and the fill. This is most noticeable where black meets black. I can also see this sometimes in file previews while browsing through files. If the white line cannot be seen in Illustrator is the file ok? I did just upgrade to CS6 if that would make a difference.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn drawings there are a lot of times where I turn off the visibility of certain line segments to make the view look cleaner.
What if I was to reverse the visibility of these lines segments down the road?
In the attached screencast video you will see that I have a drawing set up on the left of the screen to show where all the sections are taken through the building. I have setup a layer called SPC SECTION LINES which is set up to be bylayer and on the colour green.
When I XREF this drawing into the sheet file on the right side of the screencast you will see how the colour turns yellow when reference into the new sheet file?
Why does the colour of the line change when it gets xrefed into a new drawing?
the screen cast can be found at [URL]
We've having an office wide problem of drawings getting bogged down with, in some cases, hundreds of linetypes. Not sure where the source of the problem is coming from but as we contiunally use the drawings they keep gaining more and more linetypes, like a snowball rolling down a hill, and the files become so large they are almost unusable. The linetypes don't purge out of the drawing and are not connected to anything. I've tried everything I can think of to clear out the linetypes and the only thing that seems to work is wblocking them. Which when we're talking about hundreds of projects consisting of hundreds of files is a lot of work. We do wblock the drawings in a project on occasion to keep the files usable but they just become infected again eventually.
What might work to clean them up on a batch basis? I've attached a file that's infected so you can take a look. This is a file that has never had anything xref'd into it and was created as a brand new file when originally created. At some point over the last 3 weeks it got infected with the linetype disease.
The 2D drawings I am working with were exported from 3D REVIT files to 2D AutoCAD files. There are several XREFed drawings that are both mechanical and architectural from the original REVIT files that for whatever reason, the block's line weights came over with line weights of 70 in those blocks.
When I plot, the objects are a blur with the line weight so high. I tried using the command "setbylayer" but that didn't work since nested blocks still had lineweights of 70. Is there a VBA or LISP routine to run through all the blocks (including nested) that can change the line weights to a given number?
I am trying to put the mirror on top the Urinal in one JPEG. I tried making layers. Didn't seem to recognize my efforts. I saved both, but cannot get them both in the same canvass.

Problem: Transform applied to Smart Object fails to transform an attached Smart Filters Mask.
I mean a Transform, including Free Transform, as found in the Edit menu. A simple move by the Move Tool is OK.
A workaround until this bug is squashed is to encapsulate the Smart Object + Smart Filters + Filter Mask inside another Smart Object and transform that. However, that will not be a satisfactory solution in some cases. If a filter has size parameter(s), e.g. Gaussian Blur radius, a scaling or warping/distorting transform applied after the filter will obviously differ from the filter applied after the transform.
In any case, the workaround is inconvenient to subsequent editing and experimenting with filters and masks.
I want to do anime/manga style drawings on the computer to make the colors smoother so i downloaded paint.net because its free and photoshop was too hard and not free. I only accomplished an anime eye. Are there any tutorials or people out there who do anime/ manga on paint. net?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using ACAD LT 2008.
When i try to copy paste some drawing entities from a heavy drawing file to any other file, the program blocks and says 'not responding', endlessly. So i always have to shutdown the program. I experience the same problem using the designcenter: when I try to copy a layout into another drawing, my computer gets stuck.
Another annoying problem with these files is that they are so heavy, while in fact they shouldn't be. I tried the aectoacad file command. In result the file id half as big, but after I open it and save it, again is the original size.
Every now and then I go back and try to use publish to speed up printing but I always go back to plotting one by one.
I work in a housing construction office and I have 10 separate drawings side by side in model space for house plans that I need plot separate to give to certain people. My problem isn't that I can't publish them separately its that I can't save them over existing pdf's individually predetermined.
Q1. do i just have to go through and change every layout name before or after i publish?
Q2. how do i change the output publish location?
Q3. can each layout be saved to a different existing pdf and remember it?
Q3. can i save these setting across to a new drawing?
I created a line, and I want to move that line.
When I press on the move selected pixels, it moves the whole section and the move button does not move the line.
How can I move a line that I created?
I would be possible to create a plugin that could create a line with different width. Photoshops pen tool where you can fill stroke, and simulate pressure.
It would not have to be an advanced plugin, it would only require 2 features:
1. Max width (the maximum width in the middle of the line)
2. And of course would let you decide where the line should be.
So the plugin should create something like this:
Is it possible to add more than 4 nodes onto a straight line? I find that with what I'm doing, the lines can sometimes be too angular in areas.
