Feb 2, 2014where you have a smaller preview image and you click it to open a larger version. I'm sure there's something super simple that I'm overlooking somehow.

Jun 9, 2012where the setting for the size of type/font preview drop down is located in CS6, it used to be located under pref->type->type preview - but apparently not anymore. I'm probably "blind", they surely did include this option in CS6?
(A thing I find annoying in CS6 is how short the font drop down list is, only covers 1/3 of the height of my resolution, even though I have hundreds of fonts activated - requires a lot of scrolling! I really hope this gets larger if it is possible to have larger previews)
Photoshop :: File Size Larger In CS6 Than In Windows Preview?
Dec 10, 2012When I preview an image in windows, the properties panel says my file is only 958KB with dimensions 2400 x 2369. But when I open the file in photoshop (I have CS6) , it says my file is over 16MB with the same dimensions.

Nov 4, 2012Is it possible to set up a view in CPaintX5 with identical 'live' versions of an entire image or even just an object with the purpose of being able to work on either version with them set at different zoom levels, for example a 'wide shot' and a 'big close up'. I seem to recall that older versions of PSP had this facility as standard in a toggled pair of floating tabs called Preview and Image Info or some such. (I haven't used PSP for years so I might well be remembering incorrectly). It feels like it should be such a simple thing to do but it is eluding me. Of course it would be of most use as a standard feature of the Cut Out Lab but alas, no.

Paint.NET :: Ebook Cover - Shrinkage Of Image For Preview Purpose
Aug 31, 2012I've recently gotten into the craze of writing an ebook for the Amazon Kindle and decided to design my own ebook cover. The biggest problem I've come upon is the shrinkage of the image for preview purposes when people are browsing the Kindle selection.
The original size of my image is 2000 x 1200 (the recommended 1 to .6 ratio for Kindle covers). The book looks great in the original size, but when shrunk down to about 100 x 60, the text becomes pixelated. I've tried the various font styles (mostly sticking to the sans-serif), but all have the pixelated look. I use the built-in text tool for paint.net. I tried making the text as larger as possible across the book cover, but the text still looks pixelated.
Is there a plugin for text that is used for ebook covers to 'merge' them into the cover images to blend in more and not look so sharp?

Paint Shop Pro :: Can't Click And Drag Image With Mouse When Using Full Screen Preview Under Edit Tab
Aug 17, 2013I can't seem to click and drag an image with the mouse when using Full Screen Preview under the Edit Tab.
I see the hand icon and the scroll bars when the whole image can't fit on the screen but when I left click it's like I hit the Esc button.
Clicking the scrollbars will work but isn't as convenient. Under the Manage tab it works correctly. I have reset the workspace with no luck.
I use this feature a lot and would like to know if others have this problem.
The problem existed in X5 SP2 and now X5 SP3.
Photoshop :: Oil Paint Feature - Preview / No Preview Capability?
Sep 3, 2012A feature notably absent from the Oil Paint filter is any way to temporarily disable the effect (e.g., not preview it).I happen to like using Oil Paint to make refllections in the surface of water smoother and more "liquid" (which involves turning off the "Shine"), and it would really be nice if I could easily gauge the amount of the effect easily by blinking back and forth between original and processed image with a quick "disable preview" functionality.
With most standard filters, one can either uncheck a [ ] Preview box, and/or click the mouse button down on the image to temporarily show what the image is like without the effect.Yes, I know I can turn the Stylization down to 0.1 and see how a very minimal amount of the effect can be applied. And I can look at the original image in Photoshop proper, but of course that can't be zoomed while the Oil Paint filter is active.
Also, the zooming / panning seems kind of stiffly implemented.In summary, the more or less standard and expected filter features I'd like to see added to this (new class of) GPU-accelerated filters are:Preview/No Preview capability. It doesn't have to update Photoshop, just the preview display in the filter itself. I suggest a [ ] Preview checkbox and/or an on-mouse-click temporary effect disable.
Modal click and drag Zooming vs. Panning - i.e., based on a Zoom or Pan function selected (e.g., via an icon along the left) vs. having to hold modifier keys down. I personally would want it set to Zoom by default, not Pan. Since the filter has scroll bars (a Good Thing), I would have thought Zoom would have been a better default as it is. I have implemented these things in my own GPU-accelerated plug-ins, so I know that all the infrastructure Adobe needs to support them is already in there. These changes are controls only and should be trivial to implement.
Paint.NET :: Broken Links To Plugins?
Jun 13, 2011I redirected a user to the links in the Jewel tute but the problem is that while the tute sends you to the correct plugin thread, the download links in that thread are broken.
What we need is Zoom Blur Deluxe & Radial Blue Deluxe. To make matters worse they go by a couple of aliases...
I would put this is the thread for plugins but I'd have to do it for both.
I have the .DLL saved for both, so as a workaround for the broken download link, can I upload the file (if I can identify which one it is, not always that straight forward) & how do I upload it? As ab attachment?
InDesign :: Does Printing Pages With Ai Links Take Longer Than PSD Links?
Apr 15, 2014I'm reconstructing an old document originally developed with PageMaker. I've recreated a half dozen pages hopefully with more uniform techniques. The original line art for the pages was created in AutoCad and some were scans. To bring them into InDesign some of the art is now in psd format and some of the newer art is in Illustrator AI format.
I've noticed that the pages with photoshop art print pretty quickly (about 30 seconds). The ones with Illustrator art take much longer (about 1:30 seconds). They go through a flattening process.
I print these 50 page books on demand and that additional time would add about an hour.
I guess the question is whether this is normal and to be expected or not. If it is I'll likely turn everything into raster before going into InDesign. That, however, seems like quite a bit of extra work. Going from AutoCad to Illustrator (to add stroke) then to PhotoShop to change to raster and then into InDesign seems like a pretty convoluted work flow.

Yes, I know, newsgroups aren't that popular any more, blah blah blah, but they ARE with the people who use them, especially the Paint Shop Pro groups.

May 13, 2012I am trying to add links to an image and then add it to my web page...I have been trying to use the slice tool in photoshop which works great for the links but I can't seem to achieve a transparent background in the save for web...
Inside of photoshop the image is transparent and when I save for web (image) the map.png file is not created...map_01.png, map_02.png and all others are created but not the map.png file When I have saved for web (html) I have tried inserting the html into an iframe on the page and the image looks and functions correctly but there is no transparent background because it is an <iframe> and not the actual .png.

Jun 22, 2012I have a 825 pixels x 1125 pixels photo, 300 pixels/inch,
making it a size of: 2.75 inches x 3.75 inches.
However when I prepared to print this:
i.e. copying the image and pasting it onto an open office file or microsoft word file
(as I need to safe a file with photos for the printing shop),
the size of the image shows as almost covering an entire A4 sheet.
Why is that and not the set size?
AutoCAD Inventor :: Remove Image Links To DWG?
Oct 3, 2013I have a DWG with some links to images on. I would like to remove these links but am having a bit of a hard time.

I have tried to use 2 different macro's to remove these but it appears these are not OLE objects (which the macro's remove).
There is no delete menu item when you right click on the image like either.
Illustrator :: Lose Image Links To Other Files?
Mar 7, 2014I have an illustrator file which contains linked images. I want the images to link to images in a different folder on a different hard drive. They are the same images, but just in a different location.
I am thinking of temporarily changing the name of the first hard drive (which the images are currently linked to), in order to break the original image links. That way, I can re-open the illustrator file, and when it asks me to find the links, at that point I can direct illustrator towards the links on my other hard drive.
I will then save the file with the images linking to the images on the new hard drive.
At that point I will re-name the first hard drive back to it's original name.Will all of my other illustrator files loose their links if I temporarily change the name of my hard drive, and then change it back to it's original name?
(I have used this technique by changing folder names, and it has worked. But I was afraid to change the name of my Hard Drive because there are a guzillion files on it, and I can't afford for my illustrator files to lose any of their links.)

Mar 22, 2014I updated to Illustrator 17.1, and now my image links no longer auto-update after they have been edited in Photoshop. As most should know, this has long been a feature: tweak an image file in Photoshop, save it (same file name), and Illustrator will recognize the image has been edited and ask if you want to update it automatically. Hit 'Return', as 'Okay' is the default dialog button action, and image updated: one step. Without auto-update, user must manually access link palette, select edited image link, and 'Relink' the image ('Update Link' unavailable here now as well): three-plus steps (including identifying and selecting image file after 'Relink').

Oct 23, 2013When I click "Edit Original" with a jpeg selected in the links panel it opens Microsoft Paint! In Windows (7) the file association is Windows Picture Viewer (NOT Paint!) and in Bridge it is associated with Photoshop CC. In InDesign we have the option of choosing which program to edit linked files with. In Illustrator we are stuck with the astounding Paint! Why?? 17 versions and this still bugs me!

Feb 4, 2014I'm trying to put a picture (subject on a plain background) on a grid, with the picture being pixelated enough to match the scale of the grid, but I'm getting stuck trying to keep the detail of the picture as the grid step gets larger. (see below) Sounds impossible, but i know i'm getting caught up in the maths somewhere. Is there a way to manipulate the picture to get the detail in the bottom pic to transfer to the larger grid step of the top pi without changing the size of the grid?

Paint.NET :: Larger Maximum Virtual Canvas Size
Mar 1, 2012I've recently started using Paint.NET and I've been very impressed with its features. I've run into some problems working with large images though. URL...
It's a 10000 x 11299 pixel PNG image. I want to be able to zoom in quite far in order to look at some of the fine details, and make some notes on the image while I go. Unfortunately, as I read elsewhere on this forum, it seems that Paint.NET currently doesn't support a virtual canvas size greater than 32768 x 32768. On this image, that means I get a maximum zoom of 290% before I can't zoom in anymore, which isn't very much. Right now I'm having to use the "Windows Photo Viewer" to actually view and zoom into the image, while making the notes zoomed further out in Paint.NET, which is a bit cumbersome.
I know this is probably non-trivial to fix, but it would be fantastic if you can remove this barrier on the maximum virtual canvas size.
Photoshop :: Image Larger Than Specified
Aug 1, 2008I started a new project. I set the file criteria for 4" wide 5" high, 300 resolution, CMYK.
When I save the file as a JPEG and export it for print the image is huge. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I check the settings again, after noticing they are huge, and the settings show it's still 4" wide 5" high, with 1200 pixels wide, 1500 pixels high.
What am I doing wrong? How can I avoid it on future projects, and how can I fix this project?

Nov 27, 2011I'm running PSPX3. the effect of no compression (or compression factor = 1) on saving files. I've got a JPEG image file straight from my camera that's approximately 4.1MB in size. If I do nothing else but "Save As" with a compression factor of 1, the new file size is approximately 50% larger, or 6.2MB. What has changed to make the file size larger? Both images are still 72DPI, 3648X2736px. I can't image that I have done anything to "improve" image quality, so why did the file size increase?

Nov 7, 2006I am snapping from Nikon Coolpix L1 camera into 6.2 MPixel mode. When It comes to photoshop, I can see that the normal document size is, Width : 9.387 in and Height : 7.04 in (I am giving this reference from menu Image->Image Size).
Now, I am reducing this document into a size of W=5.347" x H=4.01" size for printing. Taking four nos. of similar documents and trying to paste all four documents into a single sheet of size 12"x8". This is because that the printing cost of a 12"x8" paper will be least, and that is why I am trying to compose four 5.3"x4" photographs into a single 12"x8" paper.
But the problem is that, when I am trying to paste (using copy-paste or drag-n-drop) any of the source pictures into destination sheet, the picture in the destination sheet is expanding and filling all the space of 12"x8".
What is the problem?

Apr 21, 2013I do not mean "how do i use the scale tool?!" I have an xcf file that is 925X250 and it needs to be 925X450. If cropping removes specified parts of an image, how to I make it bigger, like in paint where you can just drag the edges out or go to image properties.
