If I open a jpg file and draw a single line just a few pixels long, when I save the file it doubles in size (as in disk space, not pixels). How can I prevent that from happening.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a double-layer DVD burner and attempted to burn a DVD of a 2 hour home movie in Ulead VideoStudio 9, but have been unable to do so. I can burn it if I shrink the compression, but I don't want to lose quality - which is why I got the double layer burner in the first place. I know it's an older program, but I didn't think I would have so many problems trying to the double-layer disc to work. I have downloaded the upgrade patch for dual-layer burning from the web, but it still hasn't worked. When I burned just the image file (.iso) and tried to use another program to burn the disc, I noticed that it didn't finish saving the entire movie - it stopped when the file size reached 4.2 GB - which is right at the max for a single layer disc. How can I change the settings so the .iso image file will continue working/saving past the 4.2 GB since I can get close to 8 GB on a double layer disc? I'm missing about the last 10 minutes of my video - I need around 5.0 GB for the full movie.

I don't get it.
Isn't the whole point of adjustment layers is that unlike duping the bg layer you save space on your hardrive.
I am having issues with Illustrator creating file sizes that are only 100-200KB. And when I print, they are pixelated.

I have been saving them as .stp files, but they are very large files after exporting, and I'd like to know if there is a way to decrease the exported file size. I could zip them after I create them, but I was hoping there was an easier way or different format than .stp. I could also suppress numerous internal componants, but I would rather not have to go through that task either. In the end, they would really only require the outer shell, with any externally viewed holes still present.

These videos are somewhere around 2 hours long. I would also like to have them still HD. The only way I have been slightly succesful is to upload them to youtube then download them off again. Is there a way to do this? I have already tried H.264.

So I clicked the box to limit file size, and I chose 300k (for web), and it says "could not create a jpeg that met your limit".

The PSD is currently 2550x3300 px (8.5x11 in) at 300 dpi. I'd like to save the resume as a PDF flie so I can submit it online. I have no intentions of printing this particular document. Most websites will only accept a file size of under 1MB. What are the ideal settings for saving a PDF in the smallest file size without sacrificing on image quality? I should also note that I do not have Acrobat Pro.
Why is the text size in the instructional boxes "File", "Edit", "Image" etc: so small that they are almost unreadable. I know its me, but I can't figure out how to fix it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Adobe Illustrator CS6 document with body copy set using 6.5 pt. Helvetica Neue LT Std. - Bold Condensed & Light Condensed.
After saving the file as a PDF in Illustrator using the [Smallest File Size] setting, closing the file, and opening the newly saved PDF in Illustrator - the 6.5 pt. text is now 5.53 pt. with a vertical scaling of 117.65%.
This PDF is for client review purposes - on screen or laser print - not for reproduction. We try to keep the file size as small as possible to make downloading and e-mail attachments manageable.
In this case, my client is opening the PDF in Illustrator to double-check the text point sizes for legal & regulatory purposes.
If I save the same Illustrator file as a PDF using other settings like [High Quality Print], the text size is unchanged.
I was able to repeat the issue using Helvetica LT Std in place of Helvetica Neue LT Std.

When I try to save a small jpg file I get the following:
"Because of the limitations of the specified file (and possibly the save options you've selected) the saved file will be limited to a merged image. Would you like to continue?"
I create short videos using the PS frame animation panel. I used to be able to FILE-export-render video- and choose MPEG-4 Video in the settings panel which would render my file into a small .mov file. Now in CS6 the new render video panel does not have that option. I tried the QT options in the export window and my file is hugh! The H.264 option gives me an .mp4. I put the .mp4 into my web page via Dreamweaver and my video does not play when uploaded into the sever. The video plays fine in Dreamweaver before I upload to the server. After I upload to the server I just get a Q and no video on my web page. If I render the same file in CS5 I am able to view it in my web page. ADOBE WHY DID YOU CHANGE YOUR EXPORT VIDEO RENDERING OPTIONS in CS6?

Well, the files are small eg: 38x38 and 76x76 and how to create a larger image with these small images. Also, they are in .png format... if that matters.
From what I've read a Texture is a Pattern ... right? So, I have searched the FAQ's, the Manual etc. for things like: How to make a large Pattern, How to use a small file for a large Pattern and so forth but I can't find the right info.
Am I suppose to use them to create a Repeating Pattern? Can I do this and have them be seamless?

I'm new to this, but have noticed that whenever I choose the "save as" command for an open photo file, the saved file is much smaller. Even when, for example, I name a picture and make no other changes, the file size goes from say 2.4MB to 640 or so. And these are jpeg to jpeg saves. I have to think this diminishes resolution and options for future edits. Is there a way change some save settings or something?

When I click 'new' and then set print size to 50x50 and 150ppi resolution the file size is around 250mb. Does it really have to be this big? It seems like my laptop cant handle files this big.
Is there some way around it? Vectors? Inscape?

In vX1 I could save jpeg without substantially reducing file Mb size. In vX4, whenever I edit and save a jpeg file (using save & save as), it results in a reduced number of Mb's. Options in the 'save as' dialog are set at best. It would appear that PSP X4 is automatically optimising. Is there any way that the original file size can be retained on saving after editing?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am planning to get some photos printed on vinyl wallpaper. The physical dimensions of the wall paper will be 1300mm x 2500mm and as I am ordering it online, there is an upload restriction of 8MB (file formats allowed are .pdf .jpg and .zip).
I would like to collage multiple images to create my wallpaper and plan to resize and edit each image before collating them in one large image. Then I will resize that image to be the final one (if that makes sense).
What I want to know is, is there any simple way to work out what my final image's pixel width and height will need to be to fit the 8MB restriction? I have no idea what the printing dpi is, the website only indicates that images should be 'at least 4MB for good quality'...which means nothing.
Ideally I would like to work with a starting image with 4x or 16x the pixels so it resizes nicely...I just don't know where to start.
I can not figure out how to maintain the original file size of my photos when I open them in Paintshop For example, the original file might be 3.78 MB but once it opens in Paintshop it is only 706 KB. Do I need to change settings somewhere?

I've got a JPEG image file straight from my camera that's approximately 4.1MB in size. If I do nothing else but "Save As" with a compression factor of 1, the new file size is approximately 50% larger, or 6.2MB. What has changed to make the file size larger? Both images are still 72DPI, 3648X2736px. I can't image that I have done anything to "improve" image quality, so why did the file size increase?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI double-click on a image file associated with Photoshop, or use "Open With" to select Photoshop, the Photoshop program starts but the file does not open. Also, when Photoshop opens I get a window that says, "One or more files in the Adobe Photoshop Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing. Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop."
I cannot re-install, so I need to find what file is missing and copy it from my other Mac.
Is there a way to automate repetitive actions such as file size and file saving to the same folder?

When saving a file using the 'Save' option (not 'Save As') the file is not staying at the size of the artboard as it should, it is however being aurtomatically cropped down to the actual artwork size. This is causing issues with the Process we work with as we need the file to stay at the artboard size.If I click 'Save As' and change the Adobe PDF Preset to 'Press Quality' then this works, however this means that every file we save(which is quite alot in a day) means we have to go through the 'Save As' option and manually change each save.why this has suddenly started to happen with our Illustrators and do you know how to fix this so that it stays at the Artboard size when 'Save' is used?

We got several image files every 2 weeks which should be edited and mainly reduced in size for web purpose. This work needs 1 work day for one man/woman to do, because he/she has to open the file save for web and then set the quality to a value were the file is nearly about 150-200 KB in size.
The images are different, some have few colors, some have a lot of colors and there are also different in resolution. But they should not be reduced in resolution, only in quality. All other specs of the image should be kept
Is there any possible script, plug-in or similar which can do the same (Saving with a specific max. file size) in some automatic and faster way?
So, I'm trying to create a repeat pattern of a Balloon illustration I've done in Adobe Illustrator. I've got the singular file (balloon.ai), which weighs in at around 700MB.
Now I'm trying to create the repeat of this pattern on a separate Artboard which will repeat these balloons, 30 balloons per repeat square to be precise.
What would be the best way to import these separate balloons into the repeat square once (as they're the same file) without affecting the weight of the file and performance of Illustrator?
So, in essence, is there a way to import that balloon.ai file and only have it use up 700MB on the page rather than 30x700MB by the time I've placed 30 balloons?
I can't rasterize the files as the printer needs the raw file.
How can in retain my original jpg file sizes when processing multiple file in 11 using expert mode.
