Is there a plugin for creating text that follows a path created by the user? I understand how to arch text. That isn't working for my project. I need to plot a path and let the text follow it.

Is there a new way to fill a shape or path with text in CS6.
When I create the path I can put my text tool "over" the path & my cursor switches to a curved line through the cursor, but when I place the cursor "inside" the path it just goes back to regular cursor & if I click inside it just starts a new (regular) text layer.
In older versions as soon as I placed my text cursor inside the path it would switch to the text cursor inside parenthesis. And thus type inside the path. That doesn't happen anymore.
I'd like to outline some text, so I went to the Text tool, entered the words, highlighted them and then looked for the button that would let me create an outline path. It's not there. Plain and simple. There's an empty space between "language: English" and the tool pre-set buttons. I checked under the paths dialog, but the option isn't there, either.
I've never used the text menu before - actually, I've just never used GIMP before. Perhaps I'm missing something obvious? I read a couple of tutorials, but none of them said that you had to do anything other than highlight the text to make the "create path from text" option appear.
I'm using 2.8 and Windows XP.

What I would like to do is add additional text at the bottom of the circle but concave instead of convex. I hope that makes sense. I want to have the text at the bottom wrap around the circle but like a smile so the text isn't upside down.
I want to create an extension of the text using a path but the colors mismatches even though I selected the same color. i guess something's wrong with the brush settings but the opacity and flow is 100% but still it seems to be transparent?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use the path tool to create the shape of the text line I want to curve. I enter the text I want with the font, colour, etc, and select text along path. The text goes where I want it, but no matter what I have tried, the text colour along the path (my curved text) is always red and it doesnot look like the font in my text area. I can change the font / colour of the original text which works great, but the text along the path doesn't seem to change.

After selecting the completed line I select the main text tool (the other text tool, fit text to curve, is grayed out and not selectable). However, wherever I insert the cursor along the curved line I still end up with a straight line of text. After much experimentation I still cannot figure it out. I know I am leaving out a simple step.

I placed text on a shape and outlined it. As soon as I create a compound path, the result appears lighter than the originally outlined text (on screen and printed), although the paths seem to be identical when I overlay them. Same happens when I divide the paths.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create an effect of small text following the outline of very large bold block text (see picture). The idea I had was to first create the 'ME' in very large font as text. Then convert that text to an object / path using "Object -> Flatten Transparency... -> "Convert all text to outline"". Then, select that path and use the "Type along path" tool.
However, when I use that process, the resulting path is a compound path that therefore the Type Along Path tool doesn't work. Any pointers on how to achieve this? The image below I just used the pencil to trace the letters (quick and dirty) but the result is choppy, etc.
I'm trying to place text to a "curvy" path. I took some screen shots to show you want I'm talking about.
I created a simple curvy path 1 point on each end. (I noticed I drew in a node in the middle of the curve as well. But that actually doesn't exist in the path. I created the text a reasonable size and clicked "Text Along Path". As you can see, it never starts at the beginning of the path. Ever. I have sized the font up, and it gets a little closer to the beginning, but obviously the end of the address flies off the path. I've sized down the text and it will start even further to the middle of the path.
I have no problem getting my text along a path but I am having trouble getting the text and the path to align so that the center of the text element is centered on the path.
Is this possible or do I have to figure out someway to make my path of a certain length so it ends up that the text fits to it perfectly??
Here is a screenshot of my current problem. You can see that the text and the image below it are centered. I then placed some guide lines to make sure my path was also centered. When I placed that text along the path though, it left justified the text when I want it to be centered instead..
I have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.
Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)
Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.
Actually, I have more than 6 years experience on Catia V5 customization and vb and vb.net catia API's. What I am trying to do know is converting some applications or programs running on catia to the inventor.
The first program deal with the inventor API relating to the SweepFeatures class. So my first problem is about to find the right way to use the sketch3D for the creation of the path which is the input of the sweep method.
(oInvPartFeats.SweepFeatures.AddUsingPath(oInvProfile, oInvProfPath3D, kNewBodyOperation).
I know That is possible to create a path by using the CreatePath method when the input is SketchLines or any guide curve in the 2D Plan. Also, I tried to generate path by using the ProfilePath3D method of the sketch3D class but No way, the AddUsingPath method of the SweepFeatures Class doesn't accept it as path Input.
So I cannot imagine that is limitation of inventor because it was possible to do it by using the seep function of the model tab in the ipart document. How to create the path object as an input of the AddUsingPath method of the SweepFeatures class.
I want to be able to transpose the perspective of the existing image to my new 3D prism shape.Why can't I create a path.. and then drag nodes on that path.. and warp the pixels at the same time???
It shouldn't apply to just 3d.. because I should be able to draw a rigid path around anything and warp / stretch the image from those points.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to create a gradient fill, top to bottom of some text.To do this, I'm creating my text in a solid colour (can't seem to find a gradient fill on the text tool), then wand selecting the background inverting the selection then applying a gradient.
Unfortunately, applying the fill seems to make the text lose all smoothness (anti-aliasing?).I've tried feathering (using Boltbait) but even at 1 it's too aggressive and the text ends up too skinny.
How to maintain the anti-aliasing but also have a gradient.
My question is how do I create text in a curved line? I have a circular logo which I want to have a curved line of text above and below. I can create the text OK but I can't see how to make it curved.

When I add a vector text object by default "Stroke" is selected and the "Fill" color is set to the current background color selected in the Materials palette. Is there a way to change this so that by default "Stroke" is cleared and the fill color is always black regardless of the current background color selection?
