It's probably the best to explain my problem with a picture
The background of the text was transparent (Y'u know, white/gray dotted thingy) but when i copy it, it keeps copies the transparent part with it and... Yeah... How do i copy without the transparent part?
I am using PSP X4.
I am working with transparent images. An example is the image below. I've added borders so you can see what I'm doing.
As you can see, the background is solid white, but the image itself is primarily white. I want only the background to be transparent.
I've dabbled with the GIF Optimizer feature to make the background transparent, but part of the actual image becomes transparent also, since it contains white.
One thing I tried doing was use the color replacer to change the white background to another color, but in doing so, some of the image itself changes to yellow, despite my trying to avoid that.
Is it possible to configure PSP so that only the background is transparent? If so, what's the most practical method?
I was just wondering as to whether its possible to keep the checkered base which you get when you remove part of an image or have it transparent to stay in the created image.
I am sure you all know this.
Here is the YouTube background which I have created and wondering if I am able to keep the checkered base or whatever in the image after I have saved it rather than print screening and pasting it back like a jigsaw puzzle.
I'm modeling a temperature gauge and would like to have glass over the gauge so the inside is visible. I can easily do this with an assembly, but I'm wanting to do this with a single part. I tried to derive a new part from the assembly, but the transparent part turns solid so nothing inside is visible. Is it possible to do this?

I have created the part based on piece of standard angle taken from library. Now I want to make a mirrored copy of this part by Component-Mirror.
Inventor does not let me do it with standard part.
The question is: How I can transform a standard part to normal one, I mean I could get rid of belonging to standard part? Making a copy does not work. The only way is to derive and mirror this part but I wish there could be easy way.
I started out with a single 3 dimensional piece i had made using sketches, and split it into two using the split feature under the modify tab. Now I would like to take each of those two pieces and copy them into their own individual part files. I could do this by remaking them, but was wondering if I could simply copy and paste them into separate files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried searching the forums for "Transparent Grid" and "Transparent Hex", but I could not find anything.I would like to create an image which is a Transparent Grid or Hex which I could lay over other images, like maps for roleplaying games.
I tried to use the eraser tool to remove all the white space from the image "TransparentHexes.png" (see attached). It was long and labor intensive, but when I tried to copy the image and lay it over another image, it removed the transparent parts and made them white space again, completely covering the underlaying image.
Perhaps there is a way to use the "Paint Bucket" to replace white with transparent? And how do I lay a mostly transparent grid over another image?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a folder with about 600 transparent PNGs that I use in my photomanipulation projects in Gimp... about 100 of those are the most used of the 600.... would it be a good idea or a bad idea to make Gimp brushes out of those PNGs? or should I just stick to using transparent PNGs via copy and paste?

I want the corners to be transparent. When I outline the area I want to make transparent and then select clear it changes the current color (black) to white. All my tools do not work. I can paint onto the exsiting image but when I try to paint over transparent parts of the layer nothing is shown. There must be some simple setting I dont know about right?

The part which needs to be visible is a switch underneath a vacuum formed polycarbonate cover. When the cover is positioned open such that the switch would be partly visible even if the cover is opaque, the switch is rendered. When the cover is positioned closed, the switch is no longer rendered. I have attached JPG's of the two states.

Using Lightroom 5 I made several changes to a photo. One of the first changes I made was to crop. I now find I cropped too much. Is there a way to copy or save the several correct changes and redo the crop? Is there a way to start a new copy of the photo with some of the changes from the first copy?

If I want to select part of an image and copy it to another area or to a new image/layer, and also FEATHER the edges, here's how I'd do it in an old graphics app I often used years ago:
1. Select the area.2. Hold Ctrl while moving selection with Move tool.3. Use the slider to soften the edges to my liking.4. Press Enter to anchor selection. Done.
And there were sliders also for opacity and other things. So very SIMPLE because the prog. was designed very intuitively. How would I accomplish the same in GIMP? Well, most of the time, I WOULD ACCOMPLISH NOTHING! At best, I'd enter values into the box, not like the result, enter new values, repeat. And that's on a good day.
Somebody write a SCRIPT/PLUGIN that allows the use of sliders exactly as described above! I desperately want to be a HAPPY GIMP user, but I'm growing ever more hopeless. I don't want to turn on my older PC just to use a graphics app that actually lets me get things done.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a folder of all my photo's with my Sony NEX camera - which I have set to capture RAW+JPEG, so the folder contains a RAW and JPEG copy of each photo.
I've just started using Lightroom and run an import on that folder with 'Copy as DNG', discard duplicates, with the destination directory structure set to use photo dates. The source and destination folders are both on remote directories on my NAS.
After the import I expected to find lots of folders, ordered by date, containing just DNS files. However I find there are DNG and JPEG files for each photo.
My understanding is the standard previews and smart previews are stored locally with the LR catalog. So what are the JPEG files that have been created?
