Paint.NET :: Paste Words Onto Splatter Background?
Jan 13, 2012I'm making an ad for my group on ROBLOX. I'm using PyroChild's splatter plugin and I'm typing the words I want on the ad on a separate background (So I can turn them diagonally, ect) but if I "Rectangle select" the letters and past them, it puts white over my splatter, If I "Magic wand" the letter it doesn't get the whole letter (I'm typing In a font where each letter has a few different pieces.) How do I put the words on the background without messing up my background?

Oct 1, 2011This is a notation to a photograph that my grandfather took. The photo was mounted in one of those old albums that had black paper pages. The notation was written with some kind of white colored pen.
How to get the hand written words to stand out better and be on a pretty much pure black background.
I have played around with simple contrast, brightness, etc. and some other features but not gotten the effect I would like. I might not get it but I would like suggestions on a technique that would do this as automatically as possible. I know I could spend the time to get down to a pixel level and clean up the writing then drop it back on to a new black layer. This would be very time intensive and I would have a big learning curve on how to do this.

Photoshop :: Select Some Words / Change Color And Other Words Elsewhere Change Too?
May 1, 2013I'm having in CS6..I have a text block with a couple of styles in it (headings have one look, body copy has another). Here and there, some words are on bold. When I select some bold words and change the color of them, some other bold words in some other paragraph also change color. Not all bold words... just some. The behavior is unpredictable, so the exact words that get changed will vary, but once it starts to happen it won't stop. When I try to manually fix the other words (hopefully I noticed them before my client!) and change them back to black, sometimes that change reverses the color on the original words too. Sometimes not; it's like the effect is sometimes two-way and sometimes one-way. It becomes a real logic puzzle sometimes, a maddening game where every change affects something else and you can't find the combination of actions that will do the simple thing you want.
I haven't noticed it happening with non-bold text, but that could just be coincidence.
When this happens, the only fix seems to be to rebuild the text from scratch in a new text box. (Copying it all and re-pasting it does not seem to work—unless possibly I paste into a different document entirely.)
Paint Shop Pro :: Error When Trying To Scan A Document
Jun 29, 2011I'm trying to scan a picture using a LEXMARK Platinum Pro905 all-in-one printer with PSP X3 (v. 13.2.1.20). Lexmarx drivers are the latest available.
Please note I'm using a French version of PSP so I'll try to translate the titles, menus and messages in English. I'm going in File > Import > From a scanner or a camera (3rd option)
A pop-up windows is opening with settings for scanning. I'm able to modify every option if I want to. If I click on "Preview" (with a document in the scanner), I'm getting a preview of the document. Using the preview, I can select the area of the document I want to scan. So far so good.
When I click on the "Scan" button, the pop-up with the scan setting is disappearing (which is probably normal) but a pop-up error message is displayed right away :
The French says "Une erreur s'est produite lors de la lecture du fichier".
In English, it would probably translate by "An error occurred while reading the file". The only choice I have is to click "Ok".
I also tried with another scanner (HP Scanjet Q4010) with same result. Both (Lexmark + HP) are using an USB connection. In the past (few months ago), I was able to scan a document using this method with my HP scanner and PSP X2.

Sep 1, 2013Having a new problem with X3. Starting today, when I try to add borders to a raster image, I get the following message:
"Command could not be completed because the document type is unsupported"
Same thing happens if it is "Merged Visible"
If the image is flattened or is a background image all works fine. I do not have this problem in X2. I did reset the workspace, as sometimes that works, but not in this instance.
Paint Shop Pro :: X4 Document Control Icon
Oct 6, 2011In PSP versions prior to X4, when you had the current image maximized within the interface you'd get a standard MDI Document Control Icon appearing at the left end of the Menu Bar. This is a feature common to the most Windows programs built in the default Multiple Document Interface style. The new custom style of X4 removes this.
It's a not a huge deal, but I'm pretty used to doubleclicking that little doodad to close my images, so I figured I'd try to get it back.
Here it is in X2 (on the left) and the little "@" symbol is the version I've recreated to work around its absence in X4 (on the right):
To do this, open any image, start recording a macro, close the image, Save the macro and call it "Close Current Image" or something like that.
Restart X4 because customization changes don't stick if you've had an image open this session. (long standing bug)
Right click the empty space in the middle of the Edit perspective. Choose Customize. Hit the Scripts tab. Find your macro in the dropdown, pick an icon and hit the Bind button. Your script now appears in the Bound Scripts part of the dialog.
Switch to the Commands tab. Select Bound Scripts. Drag your script to the left end of the Menu bar. Even though you've bound an image to it, the image doesn't show (another bug, I guess). Right click your new rather wordy looking "Close Current Image" menu entry and select "Button Appearance". At the bottom of the Button Appearance dialog you can change the text to something nice and short like "@" or "X" maybe. Hit OK, and you've got a convenient close image button that lives visually in about the same spot as similar icons in most MDI-based software.
Restart X4 after customizing and before starting any work otherwise the changes won't stick.

Nov 6, 2013Is it really possible that there is no way to highlight text by selecting the text?? Creating and adjusting little rectangles, making them partially transparent, and putting them behind words you want highlighted seems extremely work intensive..... Not to mention having to move and readjust all of them every time you edit the text.....

If I click the radio button for the text in layers (other layers may be locked to prevent accidental selection), the baselines appears and I should be able to highlight the text, but I can't. If I highlight some other unaffected area of text successfully (unlocked layers), sometimes it will allow me to select the problem text directly after.

I reset the workspace to factory defaults and even tried the SHIFT-START - without luck. Photoshop :: Extract Tool (Smart Highlighting)
Oct 30, 2003I was exploring Photoshop and came across the 'Smart Highlight' tool via the Extract.
Buy choosing the edge highlighter (b) and holding 'Ctrl' I'm able to use the 'Smart Highlight' tool.
My question is what does this really do? I check the PS help but I'm still confused about its capability as a tool.
AutoCAD LT :: 2012 - Not Highlighting Object Before Select It

In 2011 I was able to (say preview the object) highlight the object before selecting it.
I noticed this when I have a few lines on top of each other and couldn't 'toggle' through to bring the correct line to the front.
Also occurs when hatching by Object, object doesn't highlight.its just a variable I can change.
AutoCad :: Selection Highlighting Changed To Solid
Apr 2, 2009Midway through my session I must have hit some key combination that changed a global setting of some sort as all of a sudden when selecting objects they no longer show up dashed to show they are selected, the grip points still show but there is no dotted line of the objects.
This happens everywhere including when picking boundaries to hatch......you cant see what boundaries you have selected because the selection line is solid.
This is making life unbelievably difficult, how to reset the selection to a dashed line as opposed to a solid line?
In case I am not being clear, draw a line. Then select it (click on it) and you see it becomes dashed and the grips appear. When I select now just the grips show up and the line stays solid.
AutoCad :: When Highlighting Text / Highlight Is NOT Showing Up
Jun 16, 2011I am running AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2012. When editting Text or MText, if I try to highlight some part of text, it does highlight BUT it does not show the highlight. What I mean is like if you were to highlight some text of this paragraph, on any internet explorer, it should highlight whatever text with blue. On every other version of AutoCAD, this is also the case. On my AutoCAD, I can highlight the text but it never shows the blue highlight, it does not show it as I am highlighting, nor does not show after I make my selection. If you are very careful you can still select the correct text, but this makes it very hard to know exactly what you are about to edit or delete. I was wondering if there is some setting that may have been in previous AutoCAD that I don't know about that somehow got changed or something?

Sep 11, 2012I have always been able to highlight separate objects in model space, and now i can only do one at at time??? I click on the second object, and the first one stops being highlighted.
I don't know if somehow i changed a setting on accident, but i don't know how to get it back to be able to do multiple separately.
Xara :: Highlighting Text - Lacking Basic Functionality
Mar 2, 2014Something that has been missing in Xara since the dawn of time is when you double-click on a word of text and then continue to slide the mouse over to the right, it does nothing. In just about any other Windows program, after highlighting a word, the sliding of the mouse over to the right continues to highlight whole words. Why, oh why, can this not be done in Xara, which is now supposed to be a mature text-handling application? It is infuriating when you have a word at the very beginning of a text box and you are fiddling about trying to get the cursor in front of the first letter of a word when all you should have to do is double-click the word and then continue to slide your mouse over the rest of the text you wish to select.
This is a Windows program. Windows has certain conventions that just about everybody sticks to so that you don't have this hair-pulling, pill-popping, bloody frustration when you switch between programs.
