When I select an image against a solid background to convert it to a transparent background, there are often extra half-background pixels due to the anti-aliasing. Is there a way to either a) scale the selection toward the center instead of from a corner, or use a smarter selection tool to outline an object and convert anti-aliased pixels to their semi-transparent equivalents?
View 2 RepliesI use the Q hotkey for the square selection tool. However, pressing Q multiple times (always by accident) switches things to the circular selection tool or something else depending on how many accidental clicks.
Is there a way to lock it to the square one only so that no matter how many times I hit Q it only goes to the square one?

Our company has a nice graphic that it paid for, and I've got a high resolution version of it. I want to create a graphic of some of our products, and instead of having the boring looking "stamp styled logo" at the top or bottom of my graphic, I'd like to add it in as a new layer, then bend it around the image.
I often use Paint.NET while creating documentation for users of various computer applications, mainly working with screenshots. For awhile I've thought that instead of simply circling a spot on the image and labelling it with an arrow, it would might better to 'pull' that section of the image up, so that it appears larger and in-front of the rest of the image.

I've got multiple objects selected, and I can set "Use Selection Center" to rotate all around center, but NOT if the animation button is on! "Use Selection Center" disappears! How can I animate these three object on center (or single pivot point)?

CENTER lines are scale 0.1 (works fine in all drawings and in both 1:30 and 1:4 viewports)
HIDDEN lines are scale 0.3 (work in one drawing but failed in the second drawing in both 1:30 and 1:4 viewport)
Setting the HIDDEN lines to 10 works with most other drawing.
I want to know first of all why this setting of 0.1 CENTER and 0.3 HIDDEN works on one drawing and not on another one in spite of the general settings set alright.
how do I center my current selection to the artboard? just like hitting the "horizontal align-center" and "vertical align-center" buttons. I've been searching for the last two hours and before my head hits the keyboard.

my problem is that holderDoc = app.documents.add(); always creates a document that is not the same size as my initial document where the layers get copied from.

which from what I've read on the web means that illustrator doesnt know what document to pick. but i have called it directly. I do not want to fit the artboard to the images/layer. the artboard should always have a certain size. (for me 128px by 128px)

i now added a new artboard to the new document with the same size as the artboard on the initial document.i remove the predefined artboard on the new doc and set the new artboard as active the artboard is now not centered into the window. which lets illustrator place my image with ctrl+c -> ctrl+v somewhere outside the artboard.
i now need to align my selection to the center of the artboard. but i cant find any reference on how to center a selection to the artboard.

But it takes some seconds! (gimp interface method needs milliseconds).
When I omit the first step (no selection_save first), then there will be a floating selection, and that isn't really what I want.
I selected a layer in order to scale it. When I click the link between height and width and then change the percentage up or down the object I'm trying to scale simply disappears. I can see the edges and the transform tool 'handles' but the layer is not there. I've never had an issue in any other version of Photoshop. What the heck is going on?
Doesn't matter whether I use the percentage tool in the upper palette of Photoshop or just shift and drag to scale. The scaling object becomes invisible.
Is there a plugin that allows real-time rotate/scale of a selection (like in photoshop) ? The way it works stock is the only annoying thing in gimp that makes my work unnecessarily harder.

To try to do this, I made a rectangular selection box, then dragged and dropped a pattern into the box. This created a new layer called "clipboard". I right clicked the clipboard layer, then left clicked "Scale Layer". Then I entered a width and height in pixels that matched the size of the canvas. The selection does expand, but it doesn't fill the entire canvas.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I select a "New" document in CS5 I find that I am only able to paint or fill in in grey scale. This is new. In the Color options panel the grey scale slider is ticked and all other options are greyed out.
How do I remove the tick by the side of the grey scale slider and make the other options available for selection as normal. I note that if I open a previously opened document all options are available it just seems to be new blank documents.
I'm creating a sprite-sheet and therefore need to be able to focus on certain parts of the image, at a time.
This however, is proving surprisingly difficult as I can't figure out if there is any way to pan my view of the image so that any part of its edges is centralized on my screen. Is there any way to do this or are there any relevant plugins available?
For example, say I had a dot, and I selected it, and it was on a corner of a 500x500 pixel square, how can I center it in the middle of the whole screen?

I wonder if there's any way of centering one layer (moving it) depending on a selected area or spot. I have a big map which is a huge layer and I'm supposed to cut it into many smaller pieces highlighting only some selected areas (see picture below). Since there's alot of areas I'd like to make as much of it automatically and I've managed everything else by by using actions but I can't figure out how to center the layer so that the selected area is the one in the center.
Can this maybe be done using scripts? If so, how? I know nothing about scripting..
I'm also interested in a script that can save and image to something based on a text layer, eg: myimagename + "_" + textlayer1.contents + extension
or something similar..
I've got lots of pages of B&W scanned images that are not quite centered. My usual method for centering them would be:
1. Open image.
2. Ctrl + Shift + N to create a new layer.
3. Select the Paint Bucket tool and fill the new layer with white.
4. Move the new layer down using the arrow button on the Layers window.
5. Select the top layer again by clicking on the Layers window.
6. Select the Move Pixels tool and drag the image until it visually looks centered.
7. Ctrl + M to merge layers down.
8. Save.
Is there any smarter, faster, fewer clicks way of accomplishing this? Is there any way of programming this so I don't have to visually center each page?(Also, I usually have to close and reopen paint.net after about 10 pages because the program isn't freeing all memory when files are closed.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to select single color areas in the picture and paint them with different color. There are quite some of these areas in the picture, which is a problem for me. I have been using Magic Wand tool (with Shift click) to select all these areas with same color but I am not able to paint these selected areas with "one click".
Now I need to use Pain Bucket tool maybe 100 times to paint all the individual selected areas one after another. Is there way to paint the whole active selection at once?

When I go into Full Editor I have The Learning Center on the left and to the right of that I have the Tools Toolbar.
My problem is that these overlay the photo I am trying to work on. I do not think this happened before. I am sure I did something to cause this but I do not have a clue what that would have been.
It seems to me that the workspace for the photo was to the right of whatever was on the right.
I have two related questions:
1. I am not able to do a somewhat basic task. I have an image on a seperate layer and I want to merge it, but I want the edges to be more softened.I used to use photoshop deluxe, it had a paint brush with a soft round tip that you could make hard edges softer. Its not like smudge, more like a softer eraser. Is there a way to do that?
2. Is there some way to make any image gradually more transparent either from one edge to another or from the center out? (Like the effect you get using gradient, but with a gradual opacity to an opaque object/image)
When you zoom into the picture that's being edited, scrollbars appear but you can scroll only to the edge of the picture, pixel in pixel this way it's pretty hard to capture the edges with selection
How to add a free space to all sides so it will be possible to move edges of the picture to the center of the screen and work with them easily?

I'm trying to center a logo for a website header. Unfortunately, the website builder I'm using won't let me center my image (or I can't figure it out).
The jpeg I want to center is 331x250. I need to center it in a 1000 pixel horizontal space and 331 vertical. I thought I could put the image on top of a white background/image at 1000x331px and center it.
Seems like Layers is what I need, but I can't seem to figure it out. I've watched the tutorial on Layers and am still lost.
I want to know how can I scale down the red rim proportionally like in this picture? Is there some plug-in for it, or am I missing some feature which can do this?

The first layer you start with is the background, I want to know how to scale/re-size it around the image imported. I am trying to create my own Minecraft skin, so I want to re-size the entire default skin image so I can work with finer detail. But i need to create a border around the original image so I can re-size it back to its proper size to be successfully uploaded to the Minecraft webiste as my skin. I cannot make a border because if I do with its current state the border will go over the first outer line of pixels of the image; I just want it to be a pixel outside the image, not on it.
