Lightroom :: Unable To Publish To Facebook - Message Webpage Cannot Be Accessed?
Aug 19, 2012
When I attempt to "authorize" Lightroom to access my Facebook account I get a "webpage cannot be accessed" and the address [url].... and a ridiculously long string of jibberish afterward. Same thing happens with the built in publish service for Flickr.
I don't often publish to facebook, but in the past I have created several collections under the facebook publish service, each going to its own album of the same name.
However today I decided to add 2 photos to an existing album, but when I click publish they appeared in a new album called "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Photos" instead of the existing album.
Is this a change in the plugin or maybe something facebook has changed?
Is there any way to get it to publish direct to albums again?
I'm trying to publish (LR5 current version) to my facebook page (xyzphotography), but it posts to my personal timeline (xyz). They are both under the same account name (xyz). How to publish directly to a "Page"?
Ability to upload any videos to Facebook via Lightroom's publish?
I go to the Lightroom Publishing Manager, and in the middle it says, "Videos will not be uploaded into this album. Facebook organizes them under "My Videos". OK, but it doesn't have an option for selecting that album.
I get the "Photo upload failed, but no error string was returned from Facebook" and "Can’t update this collection. Photo upload failed, but no error string was returned from Facebook."
The plugin diagnostics report is as follows:
**** Error 1
This plug-in’s post-processing task did not finish successfully.
Photo upload failed, but no error string was returned from Facebook.
Now I have searched and searched for answers, which is normally it's a permission problem with facebook. Well it's on fb page, it's set to public and app has a permission of public.
I have removed the app from fb, removed authorisation from lightroom, deleted the prefs file, logged out of fb, tried to publish when all access to fb was logged out etc, etc and still no joy.
It doesn't matter if it's a new album, an existing album, my profile or a page!
I'm using Windows 7/32 + LR 3.2 + FF as my default browser
For the last several days I've been trying to get the Facebook Publish Service authorized against my facebook account without sucess. Facebook would add the lightroom application to my list of approved applications, but LR would not recognize that the auhorization was sucessfull after I clicked the "Allow" button in Facebook. I tried this with Firefox, Chrome, and IE and all three browsers failed. Firefox threw an error about the (lightroom) protocol being unknown and then redirected to my Facebook Wall. IE would simply say that it could not open the web page. And Chrome did something similar but I cannot remember the details (I think it redirected too). In all cases LR would report that the Facebook Publish Service was not authorized. I tried reinstalling LR several times and I tried adding the lightroom protocol to FF and associating it with LR but to no avail. Finally I stumbled upon a process that worked for me.
If this is the error you are seeing, then the procedure below should allow you to get properly authorized in LR:
If you already tried and failed to authorize then go into you Facebook Application Settings (Account --> Application Settings) and remove/deauthorize the LR application (using whatever browser you like to do this).Make IE your default browser. This is just temporary, unless you like it like that. You have to use IE, FF won't work and since IE worked here I didn't try Chrome. When LR opens the browser to authenticate you it needs to open IE, not FFOpen LR and click the "Set Up..." link for Facebook Publish Service. Then click the "Authorize on Facebook" button. When IE opens log into FB if your not already, then click the Allow button to authorize LR.If your having the same problem I did then IE will immediately throw up an error saying that it couldn't open the requested page. Look at the URL in the address bar. It should begin with "lightroom://...". Select and copy the entire URL to you clipboard.Go back to LR and click the "Done" button. This will return you to the Facebook Publish Service Setup Dialog and you should see that you are still not authorized. Dang! But you'll notice that the "not authorized" label is not a hyperlink. Click it. This will open a dialog prompting you for the authorization URL. Paste the URL you copied from IE into this box and click OK.You should now be authorized. You can now restore you prefferred default browser.
Tried to publish to face book in Lightroom 4 and 4.4 on both PC and Mac. You can create a new empty album in FB from Lightroom but Lightroom will not the allow you to select the album to upload the images. You just get an error message at the bottom of the screen telling you "error - no album selected" Wasted hours trying to get it to work as per Julian Kost video tutorial.
When I try to authenticate facebook in lightroom, My browser (IE) opens and I log in.
Now a window appears with the following text:"no apps are installed to open this type of link (lightroom)".
And when I click "Done" in the lightroom dialog, I get a "failed to receive authentication token".This worked fine in Windows 7, but it seems there are some problems in Windows 8.
I am not able to publish my pictures on Face Book, after dng conversion , its not letting the face book album to publish on wall, its not letting the dng photos, the errormessage coming that "cant upload to the facebook album named cover photos please make sure the adobe photoshop lightroom app has permission to upload with the privacy level off this album''.
we have checked the privacy level is ok, the light room is not permitting to publish the photos on the wall, it only comes as cover photo,
I can no longer Publish from LR3 to Facebook (FB) since I had to change my FB account password (someone had tried to hack my account). I right click the account in LR3 and select edit settings. I then clicked on the Authorize on Facebook button (since its no longer authorized). This opens up my web browser and brings me to the Facebook login page. I enter my user name and password and then it opens up a Request for Permission page. It says, "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is requesting permission to do the following - Manage my Pages -Adobe Photoshop Lightroom may login as one of my Pages". There is an icon on the right to click on in order for it to be able to do so, but it is grayed out so I can do nothing. What do I do to correct this ongoing problem?
With the new LR5 I've problems in uploading pictures to facebook. The folder is created on Facebook, but I can't upload any pictures (I've the German version)
Randomly, a few times a week, I get an error in AutoCAD LT 2012 when trying to save a dwg file. It says
"Unable to save to drawing {filename} as it is being accessed by another session. Drawing saved to {filename}.tmp." The file then turns into Read Only and says
"Drawing file is write protected."
We have to do a Save As to a different filename in order to regain functionality.
I have a file where I can't save, because it says its being accessed by another session. The problem is no one has it open. I did a save as and tried changing the name of the original file or move the file with no luck. I need to keep the file name for purpose of company file structure.
We are seeing some issues with some users regarding what looks like a timeout in licensing?Basically our users are opening drawings, making amendments and trying to save, however, when the user or users try to save the drawing. It will state that the drawing is being accessed by another session.
We have removed all instances of the DWL's to see if we can resave but the only option we can use is to save them as *.tmp files.I do know that we have replaced the server in the office that is now experiencing this problem, previously they weren't having any issues.
Any good place to start looking into this as it seems there are too many things to consider and we would like to pinpoint the issue sooner rather than later..I want to be able to quickly identify if AutoCAD is at fault or the server.
I'm trying to export photos to Flickr using the Flickr publish service. When I try to log in to Flickr in order to authenticate my account, I get the error message "Could not contact the Flickr web service. Please check your Internet connection." Similarly, I have tried to use Jeff Friedl's "Export to Flickr" plugin. When I try to enable this plugin, Lightroom can't contact Flickr - I get the error message "cannotconnectToHost", and Lightroom just keeps retrying to connect with no success.
I have Internet access, and can log into Flickr without any problems using my browser.
I downloaded the LR4 upgrade. LR4 Image shows up on my desktop, dmg icon and READMe shows up, when I double click on dmg, I get message saying unable to open. Using Mac Pro and upgrading from LR3.
I'm trying to update my Smugmug Publish Plugin from version 2.0.3.1 to the current 2.0.7.0. I keep getting the message "Unable to perform Plugin Update. Failed to move the old plugin out of the way."
why my Lightroom 4 program will not open? Yesterday it worked fine. Today I get a message that "an unexpected error occurred". If I try to repair the Lightroom 4 program in the control panel, I get the message "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable". SO much of my work is sitting in those catalogs.
I downloaded LR 4.0 as an upgrade to 3 for my iMac. When I try to install, the error message I receive is Operation could not be completed ([url]... error-1). What's the problem?
I get the following error message when trying to export a file from LR 4.1 using Windows 7:
Unable to Export: An internal error has occurred: Win32 API error 2 ("The system cannot find the file specified.") when calling ShellExecuteExW from AgWorkspace.shellExecute
'The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.'I receive the error whenever turning on my laptop, and have ever since installing Lightroom4
I attached two external DWG using the add source drawings in map, then I queried a single drawing into my current drawing. Which I must admit was pretty cool. However know every time I save, autosave, or Publish I get the message below.
i cannot upload photos from Elements Organiser to facebook .. the upload gets as far as 1% and sometimes 12% but stops .. message pops up saying " There was a problem with your internet connection .Please check that the firewall is not blocking Elements Organiser from accessing the internet and that you have a internet connection
1 - Firewall is not blocking EO as i turned of my firewall but still get same message. 2- Have internet access as how come i am typing this on the Adobe site.
have also tried - Edit - Preferences- Adobe Partner and refresh but still same message.
I'm using Photoshop CS5 on a mac. The photos saved in jpeg is only recognised by photo editing software. E.g. photos are unable to upload to facebook, nor view on a PC unless using paint.
What file settings and image sizing (eg- quality, resolution, colour space, pixels etc) should I use to upload photos to my webpage? I dont want to use the web galleries tool.
