Lightroom :: Stopped Listing New Sub-folders?
Jan 22, 2014When I try to add the subfolder, Lightroom says they already exist but will not list them in the directory. I haven't changed any settings lately.

View 6 RepliesLR 3 just recently stopped saving my imports into the folders. Luckily, I exported the edits as jpgs so at least have the edited images saved elsewhere, but only my most recent imports show up in the LR catalog. I'm a relatively experienced LR user, and don't know what suddenly went wrong.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI had two 2013 folders, each with about 100 daily folders. The dates were differnt in each annual folder. I dragged one into the other. The folder where the daily folder was dragged from is now empty but those folders do not appear in the recieving folder. All the photos are still in the catalog, but do not show in the folders (left side panel).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI renamed a lot of my photo folders in Explore. Now in LR4, all these folders appears with an ?. I can't work on pictures from these folders - I get the message: File named xxx is offline or missing. It does not sync the parent folder. Nor does it sync the folder it self. If I right clik on a LR4 folder with a ?, and try to locate the folder, I only get the option to merge the identical folders. Is there any way to sort this. I can't restore the old folder names.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using LR3. I appear to be digging a massive hole for myself trying to sort out the catalog. When I first got LR, I had initially added just a small number of files just to see how LR worked. At this time I was still completing sorting out my full photo collection in 'my pictures' which were also copied to two external hard drives. Once that work was completed, I imported a complete folder (some 4000 images) into LR. The folder/subfolders appeared in the folders panel but the sub folders I had initially imported were displayed with a ? and a message 'file is missing or offline' Going down the road of 'find missing folder' eventually led to my problems.
About 6 sub folders are involved so I eventually took the decision that it could be easier just to remove them so I could then re-import them from 'my pictures'. That hasn't worked out as planned. When I go into 'file' to import photos from 'my pictures' the missing sub folders are there but the images are 'greyed' as well as the import button. When I put the cursor onto one of the greyed-out images the message 'appears to be a duplicate of another photo already in catalog' appears.
how I can restore the 'missing' sub folders into the folders panel.
How do I delete sub-folders in Lightroom without deleting the photos in those sub-folders?

View 5 Replies View RelatedIm using the most recent version of Lightroom 5.3 (updated through CC - even though this has shown up on previous version) on Windows 7 and all the folders in my library are showing up with the directory path in front of my folder names. How can I get rid of this? I do not see any options in preferences to turn this off. I have also turned off preferences in Windows > Folder Options Control Panel "Display full Path in Title bar" option.
I have Lightroom on several computers and have set up preferences the same on each workstation, and this only shows up on one workstation.
After recently installing LR 5 today this message starting appearing. I cannot get around it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Lightroom 5 has virtually stopped working. Starting around the time I installed the 5.3 upgrade, when I click on anything, the program is non- responsive literally for several minutes. sometimes as much as 15 minutes. For example, I'll click "Import", and have yo wait several minutes. Then when it finally responds, I select the folder on the hard drive that has the photos I want. Several more minutes, I select "Move", and wait several more minutes. The whole process for the simple thing I am trying to do can take a half hour.
I have rebooted my machine several times. I have restored the operating system to a time a week ago when I did not have these probalems. I have reverted back to 5.2. I re-installed 5.3.
My Lightroom 3 has just stopped working. It was version 3.6 and when I went to use it yesterday it just shutdown on me and threw me back to my desktop. I removed it and reinstalled it but the same thing happens.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7. I have been using Lightroom 4 for several days with no problem. Today it stopped rendering previews. When importing for a card or adding from a drive the files get added but then the program says "Rendering Standard Previews" but they never render. You can see the images in Develop but the previews do not stay.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling the program. That didn't work.
I went back and tried Lightroom 3 with the same setup and it worked fine. I tried this in case it was a drive problem.
My Lightroom 4 on a Mac has stopped importing from a memory card. It used to do so, but now it hangs up and never actually imports the photos. If I save the photos from the card to a folder on my desktop, it works just fine. I have tried several different memory cards at different speeds, sizes, fullness, and it doesn't seem to matter. What can I do to go back to importing directly from the memory card?

Yesterday Lightroom handled a bunch of files from these cameras and today it gives me a message "The following files were not imported because they could not be read." same answer for both ORF (Olympus raw) and jpeg's. The files will open in Elements. Reformattng cards both CF and SD) uninstalling LR and downloading a new install.
Within Lightroom 5, I set up a print template for a new Canon ix6550 printer and used it for some months. I happily printed around 40 images.
I sold a few prints, and needed to print identical copies. Up until a few weeks ago, all worked fine.
Then, a few weeks ago, I tried to re-print 2 copies of a single image. The first copy printed OK (it looked like the original), I pressed the 'Print' button once more and the second print came out 'trashed' with extreme increases in saturation and contrast plus a decreased exposure.
I tried altering all sorts of things and printing test strips, but could not get a viable print.
I did not save any changes to the template or to the development settings of the images.
A few days later, I tried again. Without changing anything, the first test strip looked OK, so I went on to successfully print two A4 prints, then the third and all subsequent attempts to print resulted in trashed prints as described above.
Since then, I have determined that if I allow the printer to manage the colours, the test strips look fine. I don't know if I would see a difference on the full sized prints.
So I thought maybe the profile is corrupt? So I downloaded the drivers again from Canon and re-installed - no difference.(Although I do not know enough to locate and delete the originals first.)Should I let the printer manage colours? Will it matter?
I'm a photography student at the Art Institute's online division. I've been working with LR 3 for the past couple of weeks. Suddenly the program shut down; I got an error message from Windows, saying it would keep looking for a solution, but then I couldn't even open Lightroom at all. I was having the same problem with PhotoShop from the Creative Design Suite 5.5.
I uninstalled both programs, then re-installed. Now PhotoShop's fine, but Lightroom is still doing (or rather NOT doing) what it was before, with the same error message.
Oh--one more thing. I recently bought a Nikon D5100, so I uploaded the two software disks when I was ready to transfer photos directly from the camera to my laptop. I don't THINK this is the problem, since I didn't start using Lightroom until after I uploaded the Nikon software, and both worked fine last week. However, just in case, I uninstalled the Nikon software & haven't yet re-installed that.
After deleting and recreating the "publishing service" in Lightroom, I was able to export a single photo. That's it. Doesn't work. Very similar to the Facebook publishing plugin, which does not work either.
Also, why do I have to wait for "downloading comments" and similar stuff? We have the web browser to interact with the website, only a fool is going to do it in Lightroom.
I'm wondering if the people designing and coding these things for Lightroom do actually ever get to use it. The answer obviously is no, because then they would know that their software doesn't work.
When I make adjustments to a photo in Ligthroom, such as Lens Correction, those adjustments are not applying to the image when I pull it into Photoshop.
All the sudden it just stopped carrying the adjustments over.
For more than two years I had no problems that were encountered using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.2 (which was upgraded to Adobe PS Lightroom 3.6). Until last month I could not open my Lightroom v 3.6. with this message on the screen --- "Lightroom -- Opening Catlog Studio Session-003.JPG.lrcat"
To remove the cause which I believed was in the later version of Lightroom v 3.6, I uninstalled Lightroom v 3.6 and reinstalled the Lightroon v 3.2 from the DVD I purchased more than two years ago. After reinstalling LR 3.2, I restarted my computer and after that I double-clicked the LR icon giving me this message: “Lightroom – Opening Catalog: Studio Session-003.JPG.lrcat”
In the box I saw this message:
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Close program
LR 3.6 Import function has stopped working. Worked fine one day and stopped working the next. No Files Found to Import yet you can see the files trhough LR in the import step while the little message in the bottom right corner says "Finding Files".
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to have the organizer folders set up the same was as Windows Explorer? I have a main folder called Family with sub folders for all the years and in each of the subfolders there could be other subfolders. It wouldn't allow me to click on main folder and get all sub folders. I had to open main folder and then it shows all folders and sub folders separately. They are no longer nested.
Along the same lines, I wanted to create an album of Family with all subfolders, but that doesn't work.that is definitely a short coming which is why I never have used the organizer program, but just PSE for editing.
LR 3.6, Win 7 ultimate 64 bit. Yes, I am so afraid of all the talk I hear about LR 4 being slow (it DID slowed down from 2 to 3) that I still work in 3.6 It is no longer showing/updating my export presets (see left column). Whether I add folders from the OS or from withing LR, they are not visible. If I select them in FOLDER CHOOSE (see right side of the screen shot), then it will export them properly to the right folder but I have no way to UPDATE FOLDER WITH CURRENT SETTINGS.
