Lightroom :: How To Off Load Data To Cloud Storage
Jun 23, 2013
A short time before Adobe released Lightroom 5, Flickr announced that it is enhancing its service by offering 1TB for free to regular users and (most important for me) expanding the limit for videos to 1GB, which full playback and embedding support. The previous video size limit was 500MB. Unfortunately, LR5 will not let me publish my videos to Flickr because LR5 is enforcing the old file size limits. Is this something that can be changed in a configuration setting somewhere? Or do we need these constraints updated in an upcoming patch?
The Flickr integration is huge for me. Having limited storage, I need to offload data to cloud storage whenever possible. Flickr is a great value in media storage.
I was looking at some of the image saving features in the cloud. Occurred to me that it would be great to have cloud capabilities in the PDN file menu.
while i am trying to load my point cloud files the points appeared in the model but not all points
i entered to the setting of the point cloud from the toolspace toolbar , i found that there are about 32 million points but only 700000 points are displayed in the drawing. Is there a way to display all the loaded points in my drawing to show all the points since i need to render a high resolution pictures for my lots.
Is it possible to ask Photoshop to save TIFF images using tile internal storage rather than strip storage? A little-known setting, a registry patch perhaps?
2012 SP2. I get this very descriptive message while trying to create a point cloud: The following error occurred processing the point cloud data: An error ocurred in data processing.
I've previously created point clouds from the same data (ENZ comma delimited) without a problem. I believe this was done before applying SP2. Any problems creating point clouds since SP2?
I'm hoping this could be a quick fix without completely reinstalling CAD.
I jammed too much LiDAR data into my Index file for point cloud data, and now I can not even open it. Even new drawings are trying to open the overall index with everything in it.
What I want to do is just delete the whole thing and start fresh again, but not sure how to do that. If I could open it once I could start deleting stuff from it, but it is too large to even open.
It was in Feb - March 2012. I was then using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012. I had faced a problem of getting ground data for a large surface by using satellite imageries processed by some government wing of USA (NASA?), have lost track of it.
Is there a plugin that will allow the loading of binary data as an image?
There is a similar capability in Photoshop and PainShopPro. I'm not writing about a RAW image loader ( to handle camera data ). I'm writing about a loader for a data matrix.
For example, I have 8-bit data, a 257x257 matrix, that can be viewed as 8-bit greyscale, and could then be assigned a palette in PSP version 8. After reworking the data visually, it could be resaved as a binary matrix without the palette, resulting in a new 257x257 matrix.
I deal with flight simulator data, and often have use to edit land classification data this way. I can do it in PSP8, but I much prefer wortking with Paint.net
I also deal with 16 bit data for elevation... I don't know if Paint.net even would have this capability.
How to change the storage location in Lightroom 3.6.?
I use my internal hard drive NTFS of my MacBook Pro as my storage location of Lightroom 3.6. being installed in Snow Leopard now but the data of my photos get too big now. I have two fast and big external hard drives eSATA now which I want to use for my data/photos. I know how to copy the data from one hard drive to another but I don't know how to change the settings in connection with Lightroom easily. I still want to watch all fotos on my MacBook Pro but don't want to save any fotos on my internal harddrive any more. Isn't it possible to have the programm Lightroom on my internal harddrive but the data on two times on two different extermal hard drives? If I look at Lightroom - settings of catalogue - I see that the internal harddrive location is my storage location now but I my two external harddrives don't appear as folders. Why? How to change that so that the external hard drives appear in Lightroom and I can watch all my fotos immediately (sometimes using external hard drive 1 and sometimes using external hard drive 2)?
My external hard drives are in HFS+ but I use the software of Paragon so that there shouldn't be any problem to read and write the data (I use also Final Cut Express so my external hard drives are HFS+ and not NTFS).
I want to impert many data from CDs - should I copy the fotos first to my external hard drive and then import it into Lightroom or is it easier to import the data directly from the CD in Lightroom so that I don't have to name the folders two times? I see that I have to sort the fotos from the CDs in new different folders and an used to do that in Finder of my MacBookPro. In Lightroom I don't want have to click each of hundreds of fotos to be able to put it into the right folders ... But how to import only a part of a CDs quickly into the right (newly created) folders?
I downloaded the images from my camera to IPhoto and then 'dragged' them into Lightroom 5. After I have develped them and created a collection, can I save them back to IPhoto to replace the old source file or they just stay in Lightroom permanently?
I have been using an external hard drive to store my photos but am leary of possible impending failure and so would like to convert over to a SSD. Question: anything wrong with using SD memory cards. 128 GB are awfully cheap these days.
I want my laptop to function as a quick viewer for showing a portfolio.
I thought I'd experiment (for the first time) with the web creation options in LR5.3, but at "Save" time point all materials, files, links, etc. inside my own hard drive or SSDs on the laptop. There are times when I want to show someone images without depending on a connection to the Internet. I have web-delivered services I can use but I am looking for the quickest appearance and on the screen and some control over navigation (able to organize the materials). I want ease of replacement or addition of images from LR as circumstances dictate.
I own Dreamweaver from CS4, and have a little experience setting up links. Perhaps I would have to do some work in Dreamweaver?
My "real" portfolio is a WordPress.org install hosted at my ISP and I might even pay to have that template duplicated on this "local web server" but that's a different question.
1-When shooting tethered, is there a way to have it place the incoming raw files in two locations at once? Such as on an external as well as the internal drive for backup purposes?
2-When I plug the camera in (D300s), Windows 7 sees the camera almost instantly. However, Lightroom takes a minute and 30 seconds before it sees it to allow tethered shooting.
I'm trying to figure out if it's practical to use Lightroom to access/manipulate files on network attached storage.
Specifically, suppose I've already generated the 1:1 preview files, and these preview files are on the local hard drive. Does it matter then if the raw files are located physically on a NAS v. on the local hard drive in terms of the speed of Lightroom and ease with navigating from image to image?
When building the first catalog, is there a way to prevent Lightroom from scanning everything connected to the computer?
I want it to scan ONE folder, something without a few hundred thousand TIFF and RAW image files (along with various copies of each of them in full and low res versions of JPG & PNG).
I had my Lightroom 3 catalog on an external hard drive which became corrupted . the only thing I could do was drag and drop it on another one. when trying to open it I got this Error message."Lightroom cannot open the catalog named “Lightroom main Catalog-2-2” located on network volume “Public”. Lightroom Catalogs can not be opened on network volumes, removable storage, or read only volumes".? I didn't have the ability to export catalog.
Have just installed Windows LR4 trial, told it to Import files from my photo collection in a folder + subfolders on a network attached storage (NAS) unit. Windows Explorer tells me that there are 10,308 files in 408 folders in the main folder, totalling 38.8gb but on scanning the folder prior to import LR4 tells me that there are only 9,612 photos.
My photo collection folder contains only photos and no other file types.
Why is there this discrepancy ? I've searched around to see whether there is some hidden filter that is excluding certain photo files but cannot find anything of that nature.
no matter what i try, Creative Cloud pops up and has the list of apps but lightroom 5 is nowhere to be found. i just bought Photoshop CC, and Lightroom 5. I had the trail for photoshop cc, and i believe i have the full version of it now. but light room 5 isn't even listed as an app.
I just signed up for the monthly membership to CC and downloaded LR and PS, both downloaded ok. PS is working but when I went to register the LR I get finished and it gives the error "assertion failed".
I have used LR 3 on this computer, but a few months ago it stopped working and I had my son uninstall it from this computer, so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Why can´t I publish pictures from Lightroom to Creative Cloud with LR Publish Services? The only reason I bought a Creative Cloud membership was because I assumed it would work seamlessly with Lightroom publish Services..
i recently purchased creative cloud and found out that my camera is not supported in tethered shooting ... how do i add my camera model so i can shoot tethered
LIGHTROOM 3.3 REINSTALLATION PROBLEM. I had an operating system problem with my pc. A friend took an image of my disc. I have the computer running again now but I dont have any of my Loghtroom edits. I was advised to get a .lrc (or something) file but that only had a copy of the very first backup that I did. I didn't backup using the Lightroom backup that pops up when closing te program. How can I retrieve all my edits, it amounts to many, many hundreds of hours work?
I dont want it. Im not interested. But hey we are changing all your icons to cloud. Screw you I have to login and am scard these fools will use my credit card#
Adobe is really good at graphics I dont trust them as far as I can throw them with my credit information. Why are you changing my desktop icons without my permission. Yea do whatever you want to. Down here in the south we have a little something called uninstall.
I have few terabytes of photo's that are cataloged in lightroom. Only a few hundred gig are photo's that I rated 3-5 stars and are the only ones that I would want to be 100% certain I don't loose in a perfect storm data loss scenario.
I currently use windows 7 import everything into one master folder for my catalog, then sort and rate them all. Is there any way to direct lightroom to separate all photo's with a 3-5 star rating on my actual hard drive into a separate folder or duplicate them into another folder for cloud back-up? I've tried showing the rating column in window, but it doesn't seem to bring my lightroom star ratings into windows.
