I have a little problem with Adobe Lightroom 4. I just started using the program and it was all workin well. I do a lot of editing through the "develop" section. Anyways, I started to export some of the photos (made them be re named to edit# according to the original number of the photo) and I found that now the "last edited" on my exported pictures said 2014/04/09. Why has the edited time changed?
View 3 RepliesI did a bunch of editing on a large group of photos but did not export them from RAW to jpegs. Is there a way to do this without doing them one by one, like a batch export?
I'm using LR4.
Exporting files to hard disk with the original item set for file type. dng file shows up on the exported directory as the cropped / edited photo and there is no sidecar file.
When I click on the history panel for this export panel, it brings the photo up in the non cropped version just as I would wish.
I did do an unclick on "embed fast load data" in preferences and then an update dng preview as the fix for the banding problems when viewing dng files in irfanview and picassa and that worked, but hope it did not create my problem described above.
I have some old images which I have scanned and imported into lightroom. After imported, I went to "Metadata" > "Edit Capture Time" and I set the date and time correctly. Then, when I either export them or upload them to Flickr, I noticed the date/time I set with "Edit Capture Time" is not exported with the image. In Windows, if you right-click the image, select "Properties" then select the "Details" tab, the "Date Taken" field is missing. When I load the image into an EXIF editor, I see the image is missing the ExifDTOrig tag. This is a problem, especially when uploading to Flickr, since Flickr will then assume the upload date/time is when the picture was taken.

I'm trying to change "capture time" of multiple photos to a specific time.
I know that there is "Edit Capture Time" feature under Metadata. But when I try to edit multiple photos, it says that "Modify the capture time stored in the selected photos by entering the correct time adjustment for the photo displayed to the left. Other photos (but not vidieos) will be adjusted by the same amount of time". And it really does.
For example,
If A file's capture time is 1/11/2011
B file's capture time is 1/11/2012
C file's capture time is 1/11/2013
I would like to change their capture time to 1/11/2014. All the three files.
But the current "Edit Capture Time" feature of Lightroom just adds three years to each file like this:
A file's capture time -> 1/11/2014
B file -> 1/11/2015
C file -> 1/11/2016
So their capture times remain as different ones. And this is not I want...
I've googled a lot and tried several programs other than lightroom as well, but the "Capture time" recognized by lightroom could not be changed by other programs.
I imported 150 raw photos from my Nikon D5100 and edited them all.
Then I imported one raw file from a different SD card (same camera) into the same catalog and edited that photo.
Suddenly all 150 photos I had originally imported into my catalog in raw were now JPG.
The only raw photo in the whole catalog was the single one I brought in from the second SD card.
I didn't click any weird buttons. I didn't do any kind of export or extraneous things.
All I did was:
1. Import 150 raw photos and edit them
2. Import 1 raw photo from a second SD card and edit it
3. Suddenly all my 150 raw photos were JPG photos and not raw any more
I am using Lightroom 4.4 with OSX 10.8.3
I just upgraded to Lightroom 4 this week and am haing trouble getting CS5 to open the Lightroom-edited photos. For example, if I adjust the exposure, clarity, etc. in LR 4 and then hit command E to take the file over to Photoshop for further editing, CS5 isn't opening that edited file. It is opening the original file that was imported into LR 4 but not the edited version. These are RAW files.
Interestingly, all of the older files that I originally edited in LR 3 (they have now been moved into the LR4 catalog) will still move over from LR4 to CS5 when I hit command E. Only the files that were imported from my camera card directly into LR 4 aren't cooperating.
Not sure if this is a LR or CS6 issue. When CS6 finishes editing, it sends a virtual copy back to LR4 - I now have 2 copies of the photo. How do I then get the newly edited version to be the main photo in all collections etc - does this have to be done manually i.e. remove the original and replace with the copy

I have an old back up catalog with the right names. Or is my only option to copy my back up from my external hard drive to my computer and synchronise it in lightroom..
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a new Lightroom user .I have a folder of full of .JPG in ~/Pictures/2011/2011-07-21_Fjord that I imported inside Lightroom 5 using the "Add" option (not "Copy" nor "Move").
I modified a few pictures (mainly removing visual artefacts and fixing the level) and found out that ~/Pictures/2013/2013-07-21_Fjord still contains the originals.
After reading a bit about LR, I understand that is is the expected behavior. But let's say I know what I am doing and I no longer care about the originals, what is the best worlflow to overwrite the originals why the modified JPGs?
When I right click on a photo in LR3 and click on 'edit in Photoshop CS4', it opens the dialogue box that it has always opened: 'This version of Lightroom may require Camera Raw version 6.5 to be fully compatible,' or something to that effect. I have never needed to worry about that, and have always been able to just click on OK and it has worked anyway, however suddenly it doesn't.
So I checked (just in case the issue was my version of Camera Raw) and I am running Camera Raw version 5.70.213
So I tried to update it to 6.5. I downloaded it (and the Adobe installer manager which it seemed to want me to install), but when I try to install 6.5 I get a message: 'This is not required'.So one message tells me it is required, and another won't allow it to install and says it is not required.
I don't seem to be able to install the latest version of Camera Raw (doesn't bother me as I don't use it - I use LR, except if it is causing this problem), and I have the problem of being unable to edit any of my LR catalogue in CS4.
I have recently purchased Lightroom 4. I have edited my photos and saved them as JPEG. I exported them to my computer and wanted to select some for my Picasa web album. I have never resized previously and uploaded full size as I thought they are my back up if I lost everything here.
Anyway when I tried to upload to Picasa it said the image was too large. Some were around 3-4MB which i thought was ok?
using lightroom 4.3 when I edit a group of photos in lightroom, most of the files will only be edited in lightroom but a few will also be opend into PS6 (by right clicking > edit in>) Once the PS edits are complete the image is saved & I return to Lightroom. When I export the entire group of images - I set the file name to 'custom name - original file number'. The images I edited in lightroom only - all are renamed as expected (ie wedding photo-1234, wedding photo-1235). The images I edited in both lightroom & photoshop receive the custom name but lose their file name (ie wedding photo-, wedding photo-1, wedding photo-2, etc.) When viewing these PS edited images in lightroom - they do show the file #, it is only after export that the file # is lost..
I wish to maintain the file names for all of the images.
I edited a bunch of photos and then created a catalog. I can no longer find the edited versions of the photos. The catalog when opened does not show any pictures.

View 9 Replies View Relatedwhen I access in Lightroom 4.4 a folder which had been edited originally (and imported) in Lightroom 3, the options and settings for Developing and editing in LR 4 change to appear like the old options in LR3 (Exposure, Recovery, Fill Light and Blacks, instead of Highlights, shadow, whites and blacks etc..). Why is Lightroom 4 doing this. Most of the files I am trying to edit have not been touched before in LR 3 but were simply imported originally into the catalogue from LR3.

Looking deeper I found that they are saved as uncompressed TIFF files, this despite the default save format for Photoshop in Lightroom's preferences being set to ZIP compressed TIFF files. So why doesn't this setting work and how can I make Photoshop save things compressed?

At first Lightroom 4.4 seemed to skip certain photos when exporting and now I'm unable to export more than one image at the time. How can I fix this? I didn't seem to have this problem before the 4.4 update, but then again, the 4.4 update has been running for a few days now. I run on a 32bit Windows 7 with 4GB of RAM.
Lightroom has also been a considerable lot slower since the last couple of days, yet there have been no changes at all to my computer or system or anything - nothing's changed expect for the fact that Lightroom isn't behaving as it used to.
When opening my jpeg photos in Photoshop elements 9, once saved elements seems put the image in a format that my Apple Mac isn't compatible with. So when I then try and upload the images to Facebook or other software in a bulk upload the images are highlighted and I therefore can't select them and upload.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSay I have a keyword "parent" and a nested keyword (subtag) "child" under that keyword. Some photos are tagged with "parent", other are (only) tagged with "child".
Is it now possible to view all photos tagged "parent", but not see the "child" photos at the same time? Either using the keyword list or text filter, I always get to see the "child" photos also...
I know I can exclude certain keywords when searching (ie. "parent !child"), but in my case I'm having about 20 child tags, so it's not very practical to write all 20 keywords as exclusions.
Is there a way to shift the capture time (in EXIT) of multiple files by a long time frame? When you select photos and go to Metadata - Edit Capture Time, you can shift the capture time in the increments of hours.. I need to shift the capture time of some photos by years.. Is this possible at all within LR?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on a team of 3 photographers. And when we go to events, we syncronize our cameras in date and time so we can work easly in the editing stage. But the problem that I´ve encountered is that when I edit my photos in my lightroom and then export them, and then import them again with everyone´s pictures in the same lightroom, mine don´t mix, don´t syncronize with the times and dates of the other pictures and also, my red tags and stars don´t appear. And this is making us waste so much time, because the moments of a wedding for example, dont match and we have to order them manually...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 8 and for some odd reason I'm not able to export anything from Lightroom. When I try to press the export button from any location it will just freeze up. There are no error messages or anything, it just freezes. It was working fine before and I don't think I changed any export settings or anything and it just randomly stopped exporting. I always have to kill it off now with task manager. I had the problem in 4.3 randomly yesterday and then I upgraded to 4.4 and I still have the same problem. I made a new catergoy and that still didn't work. I'm still able to edit photos and such but its just the export feature that isn't working from what I know.
