I have recently purchased Lightroom 4. I have edited my photos and saved them as JPEG. I exported them to my computer and wanted to select some for my Picasa web album. I have never resized previously and uploaded full size as I thought they are my back up if I lost everything here.
Anyway when I tried to upload to Picasa it said the image was too large. Some were around 3-4MB which i thought was ok?
I just upgraded from LR3 to LR5 - when I export and upload to Facebook - the photos look horrible. Very unclear. Looks like they got compressed in a strange way. I am doing everything the same way I did it in LR3 but getting differnet results.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working with Lightroom 4.4 to upload photos to Blurb. Two weeks ago, I tried this with 44 page photobook and it worked fine. In the past few days, I made a new book (205 pages) and it simply give an error message in the middle of an uploading process. I'm wondering if starting this all over again is the only option. The error message simply states there was an error during the uploading process and nothing more.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a new issue with my Lightoom (4) Suddenly, every time I try to upload photos into Lightroom, I get a "Files Cannot be Read" message. I have never had this problem before. SOmetimes it will upload a few out of the bunch, but not all of them. I have tried to change all my permissions settings to "Read & Write" but am still not having any luck. It seems that it works sometimes, but mostly not.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am relatively new to Lightroom 4 and have had some issues with uploading files to a website that I have already exported from lightroom. I have exported many photos from lightroom to my desktop and then brought them into iphoto. I then went to upload some of those photos, now in iphoto to websites like snapfish, etc. to develop prints or make cards. When I upload these photos to the website, they often look poor in comparison when I look at the same image in iphoto.I then emailed myself the same photo and renamed the image. The photo then uploads true to what it looks like in iphoto. Am I not exporting these images correctly?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Lightroom 4 this week and am haing trouble getting CS5 to open the Lightroom-edited photos. For example, if I adjust the exposure, clarity, etc. in LR 4 and then hit command E to take the file over to Photoshop for further editing, CS5 isn't opening that edited file. It is opening the original file that was imported into LR 4 but not the edited version. These are RAW files.
Interestingly, all of the older files that I originally edited in LR 3 (they have now been moved into the LR4 catalog) will still move over from LR4 to CS5 when I hit command E. Only the files that were imported from my camera card directly into LR 4 aren't cooperating.
Not sure if this is a LR or CS6 issue. When CS6 finishes editing, it sends a virtual copy back to LR4 - I now have 2 copies of the photo. How do I then get the newly edited version to be the main photo in all collections etc - does this have to be done manually i.e. remove the original and replace with the copy

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I right click on a photo in LR3 and click on 'edit in Photoshop CS4', it opens the dialogue box that it has always opened: 'This version of Lightroom may require Camera Raw version 6.5 to be fully compatible,' or something to that effect. I have never needed to worry about that, and have always been able to just click on OK and it has worked anyway, however suddenly it doesn't.
So I checked (just in case the issue was my version of Camera Raw) and I am running Camera Raw version 5.70.213
So I tried to update it to 6.5. I downloaded it (and the Adobe installer manager which it seemed to want me to install), but when I try to install 6.5 I get a message: 'This is not required'.So one message tells me it is required, and another won't allow it to install and says it is not required.
I don't seem to be able to install the latest version of Camera Raw (doesn't bother me as I don't use it - I use LR, except if it is causing this problem), and I have the problem of being unable to edit any of my LR catalogue in CS4.
I did a bunch of editing on a large group of photos but did not export them from RAW to jpegs. Is there a way to do this without doing them one by one, like a batch export?
I'm using LR4.

Anyways, I started to export some of the photos (made them be re named to edit# according to the original number of the photo) and I found that now the "last edited" on my exported pictures said 2014/04/09. Why has the edited time changed?
View 3 Replies View RelatedExporting files to hard disk with the original item set for file type. dng file shows up on the exported directory as the cropped / edited photo and there is no sidecar file.
When I click on the history panel for this export panel, it brings the photo up in the non cropped version just as I would wish.
I did do an unclick on "embed fast load data" in preferences and then an update dng preview as the fix for the banding problems when viewing dng files in irfanview and picassa and that worked, but hope it did not create my problem described above.
I edited a bunch of photos and then created a catalog. I can no longer find the edited versions of the photos. The catalog when opened does not show any pictures.
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen I access in Lightroom 4.4 a folder which had been edited originally (and imported) in Lightroom 3, the options and settings for Developing and editing in LR 4 change to appear like the old options in LR3 (Exposure, Recovery, Fill Light and Blacks, instead of Highlights, shadow, whites and blacks etc..). Why is Lightroom 4 doing this. Most of the files I am trying to edit have not been touched before in LR 3 but were simply imported originally into the catalogue from LR3.

Looking deeper I found that they are saved as uncompressed TIFF files, this despite the default save format for Photoshop in Lightroom's preferences being set to ZIP compressed TIFF files. So why doesn't this setting work and how can I make Photoshop save things compressed?

What I did was change the folder names in Picasa (and found out I cannot undo folder name changes). I can locate the files in LR3 by keyword, but dont know how to reassosiate the files to their new folder.
Whats the the best way for LR3 to find these files again? I dont want to have to delete and reload the images, but will if its easier
I just came back from a long trip out west and almost all (a very few do open) .nef images in Lightroom 5 64bit give me the "unsupported or damaged" message.
I imported the files using Picasa and can view them just fine on there and can see the EXIF data.A lot of searching online led me to try converting the files to .DNG using the DNG converter 8.1 but I get the same "unsupported or damaged" message.
I've just inherited a 500GB HDD from my Dad and I'd love to be able to work all his photos through LR, although there's no way I'm sitting there and importing each and every directory!
As Google Picasa can be told to monitor a directory (eg My Pictures) and each time a new directory or directories are added, on startup it scans for and locates these new dirs and imports the pictures.
Can LR3 be set up to do this please as it would save me hours if I could just leave it overnight to import all of his pics straight into LR.

View 32 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem saving photos after editing them in Photoshop. I had a similar problem in a previous photo-editor, so I realize this may not be Photoshop-specific but am hoping someone might have an answer.
I open a photo normally in Ps, edit it, and save it as a jpeg. Then if I go to reopen the file in Ps it tells me that it can't because it is the wrong file type.
In the file properties it shows the file type simply as 'file', and Vista displays it as a blank page icon. I am able to open the image in the default Windows image viewer.
The oddest part is that this seems to happen only to some photos, with others working problem-free I am completely at a loss on this one.
I know there is a thread all about DPI and what not but to be honest I have never truly understood it. I am working on some photos for my mum for mothers day in a couple of weeks and have 2 ideas the first is some photos she took up the Whanganui river I want to edit them all like so ( with different NZ iconic images in each one there will be four in total ) and then print them out and put them in a frame I will be using a shop service for this as I do not have a working printer.and the other idea is the same thing but for her cats like so.
how the NZ ones will look.What I need to know if I print these out at 10'' x 8'' or 6'' x 4'' what size should the originals be ? The native photos are 2048x1536 but normally I have to resize these to 800x600 otherwise my comp goes very slow.
How should I save edited photos for clients? Save as or Save for web and other devices? When I "save as" the client can't upload their photos into i Photo. When I "save for web and other devices" my resolution drops from 300 to 72? I am using JPG.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI edited some photos today using GIMP 2.8.
I am now unable to delete the edited photos, rename the edited photos, or move the edited photos to another folder. Basically, they are stuck in their spot. I'm not even able to pull up the "Properties" selection from right-clicking the edited photo.
I tried to open them using IrfanView, but when I go to delete the photo using that program, it makes it not respond.
I can open the photo up in Paint, save it as a different format, and delete it - but the original edited photo is still there.
How can I move and delete edited photos? I've never ran into this problem in all the years I've been using GIMP.
