Lightroom :: Apply Slight Boost In Exposure To Multiple Images?
Jan 18, 2013Is there a way to apply a slight boost in exposure to multiple images that have different exposure settings?

View 2 RepliesIt seems that even with a calibrated screen and across multiple print labs and colour profiles, my prints will always come out about a third stop darker than what looked good on the screen. I attribute this to the screen emitting light vs. the page only reflecting it. My question: is there an efficient way to give an equal exposure boost across an entire shoot? I don't want to sync a specific exposure setting. I want to make virtual copies for print and then add maybe 0.3 exposure to all files, on top of their current setting.
The only way I can think do to it now is to export 16-bit tiffs which will reset the exposure to 0.00 for those files, and then sync them all at +0.3 exposure. This is really inefficient for time and hard drive space. Even a preset will only set a specific overall exposure setting. I want a preset that adds exposure to the existing number.
I will be shooting a series of photos that inludes a gray card in each image. How can I use Lightroom to obtain the same exposure in each image relative to the gray card?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a group of about 500 images I took yesterday. I want to find all images out of that group that have a certain exposure compensation (exposure bias). I am trying to create a smart collection of these but am seeming to have problems doing so. I have set up the following criteria: Date = 2013-31-13; and Searchable EXIF = 1/3. I've tried other variations. The best I can do is get 17 images put into the smart collection, but only some of them have an Exposure Bias of 1/3; others have a bias of 0. I know I have quite a few more with exposure bias of 1/3.
How can I do this....again, I want to find all images with a certain exposure bias, either 0, 1/3, or 2/3.
I have LR 4.4.
I have a folder full of icons (.png) that I have created for an application at work but they now need greyed out versions for use as disabled buttons. There are 71 icons and it will be time consuming to do it manually so I wanted to see if there was a way to turn all images to a grey state in one go?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIts a small school project which I have chosen and cant really find a way to do it. What I want to achieve? I have an image and I want to have like 50 variations of it.
What I did? I loaded up an image, recorded an action which applies the filter called "Wave", the the wave dialog box I selected Minimum and Maximum range for values.
Problem I am having:
I made 50 copies of the same image, and then I applied the action via batch processing to these 50 images. However, it applies the exact same settings/values which I recorded. It doesn't really use the range i.e maximum and minimum values I selected in the wave dialog box. It looks like when I closed the wave dialog box, the action creates a new value called "Random seed" when recording and perhaps this random seed number tells Photoshop what to choose from the min and max range supplied by the user.
So is there any way so that when I run the action, it will pick up a new random value from the supplied min and max range?
Is there an easy way to apply multiple effects on a set of images or individual images, similiar to something like a preset in LightRoom.
For example, if I run the following effects I have to apply it to each image one effect at a time and repeat for each image that I want the exact same effects applied but would prefer to do it all in one go
Blur/(GPU) Gaussian Blur
Noise/Reduce Noise
Photo/Sharpen+
I use these to clean up the moire from scans and reduce dust/dirt then apply a mild sharpen effect to bring back the now softenend image back up slightly. Being able to have presets would be a real bonus for quick clean ups, of digital camera images or camera phone images
I found it by spending a bit more time looking through the menus, under the Effect menu and the Advanced tab and creating a custom effects script ......
But now would like to see if I can have a list of presets instead of having to load them through the script engine one at a time, maybe an option under the 'Effects/Presets' menu option listing all the scripts that are currently saved.
I was wondering how many people are using a 10000 RPM drive as their OS hard drive. My OS backup drive is dying slowly, and I'm thinking whether or not it would make sense to spend $300 on a faster drive (and use it as the OS drive). Mainly I'd like to speed up Lightroom and Photoshop.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a set of images in 32 bit .hdr format, which I would like to turn into 8 bit png files. Specifically, they are 6 sides of a cubemap, which join together seamlessly, and still need to do so after the conversion.
I've played around with the options in the HDR toning dialogue and have a setup I really like the look of, based around the 'local adaptation' method. The trouble is, if I apply those settings to each of the 6 images individually, they are no longer seamless (some have higher/lower contrast and brightness etc), presumably because these settings are 'relative to' the image being processed.
how can I apply the same kind of operations to each of these images (so they remain seamless), mimicking what the 'local adaptation' method is doing?
The specific settings I have changed in the dialogue are the edge glow radius and strength, the 'detail', and the colour vibrance and saturation.
We have a bunch of shots taken using natural light - the shots all have completely different exposure and white balance adjustments.
Now that the shots feel like they've been shot at the same time of day (and on the same day) we'd like to start adjusting the white balance accross multiple shots - but use the current white balance/exposure from each individual shot as the starting point - not reset the adjustments.
Kind of like baking the current settings or making adjustments on top of current adjustments - or make new adjustments relative to the current adjustments.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have expanded my keywords over several years. There are bird images taken several years ago that lack keywords but when I bring them up now I also have the keywords from that time which are quite inadequate today. Is there a way in which I can apply my current keyword listings to older images, i.e., change the old keyword folder for my current one?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems selecting images in the library module when multiple images are in view (not down in the timeline, but in the main window). It seems sporadic with which ones it won't let me select, it somehow manages to be the ones that I need to click....!! I just literally can't click it as if it were an image I already imported or something, but it's not grayed out like that. I've been having to select a nearby image then use my arrow keys to navigate to and click the image I need.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Nikon D7000, I use Photoshop CS5. I took multiple exposures in-camera in RAW and they appear fine on the back of my camera, and in the finder window on my Mac, but when uploaded and viewed through Bridge and Photoshop the images are monochromatic RED in color. I have contacted Nikon and they say they can not guarantee compatibility with 3rd party software. No amount of editing, that I have found, returns the colors to where they should be (NOT RED).
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Lightroom 4.1 when rating (flags, stars or colors) a selected group of images all images selected will have the same flag applied. For instance if I select 10 images to view in the survey mode to compare and select 1 to be flagged as rejected all 10 will be flagged rejected, not just the one. Is there a way to turn this off to select a group of images and flag each differently?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI built 3 profiles with ColorMunki for three different papers (I print with an Epson 3880). Using each of the profiles, a slight bluish tinge appears in what I'll call the "margin" of the prints. My tests were done on 4x6 paper, but the image was only about 5" wide--so there's a 1/2 inch "margin" between the edge of the image and the edge of the paper. The bluish tinge shows up here, but doesn't extend into the white border of the print. The weird part: the bluish tinge appears ONLY using the profiles. If I choose "Managed by Printer" everything is fine. No bluish tinge.
This could be related to LR 4.3, which I downloaded just before making and installing the profiles.
I have been shooting RAW for a while and have notice that after I import the images and then start to view them in the Library Module I will see a slight color and quality shift - almost looks like a white balance shift but not quite. I was thinking that perhaps there was some automatic preset being applied but I don't have any presets at all.
I am shooting with a Canon 1DX as well as 7D. I have not checked to see if I get this situation with the 7D, but I know for sure that I get it with the 1DX.
Today I was reviewing some images in Bridge and decided to open one of them in Camera RAW. At that time I discovered that the camera's Image Style Settings were available, Faithful, Standard, Portrait, etc. I noticed that the images did not have one of the camera styles applied to them but rather the Adobe Standard Style. At that point from within RAW I selected one of the camera's styles and bingo thats the kind of shift I am seeing when I first view an image in LR4 Library.
So as far as I can tell the RAW images are getting the Adobe Standard style applied in LR. I have no idea if this is a default behavior of if I have done something to cause it. I'm also thinking that perhaps LR does not necessarily apply the Camera's Styles automatically even though the particular style has been set in the camera -- perhaps is not imported as part of the metadata during the import and thus defaults to the Adobe Standard.
1. Should I expect LR4 to apply the Style as set from the camera automatically or not at all?
2. Can I prevent LR from applying the Adobe Standard Style and apply no style?
3. Can I cause LR to apply the Style as set in the camera for the particular image to be appied automatically upon import?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a smart collection with the only criteria "Is greater than or equal to" 5 stars having changed from "is" 5 stars. I'm gettin 4 copies of each image.
When I go to folder view and all photos I have only one copy each.
How can I make this not-so-smart collection smart?
I keep my photos on two main drives: one archival drive which is the main storage for ALL my images and lives in my studio, and one that is my portable working drive which travels with me wherever I go. Using Lightroom 3, I import images during a shoot onto the portable drive, and then later I copy the images using Finder to the main archival drive. I don't do the copy while importing from my card because I don't have the time to wait during the shoot. Since I carry the portable drive with me, I make metadata and develop and other changes to the images from a particular shoot in Lightroom, all of which are saved to that portable drive.
My question is, is there a way to have Lightroom sync these changes over multiple hard drives? In other words, how do I sync all the changes I made to the images on my portable drive with the images I previously copied to my archival drive? If I make develop, metadata, and keyword changes to the images in a folder on my portable drive, the idea of having to do it all over again for the same folder on my archival drive seems intensely ponderous, and the idea of copying all the files again every time I make changes seems very time-consuming. Lightroom is so brilliant in so many ways, I'm hoping this is something it knows how to do as well.
To explain, the portable hard drive is a small USB powered drive that I can have with me at my day job or take with me to shoots, where I might find time to rate images, make develop settings, add keywords, etc. It's not possible to bring the archival drive with me everywhere, which means I work from the portable drive quite a bit. But I need for the archival drive to be in sync with the portable drive as much as possible, for obvious backup reasons.
I am in the process of organizing my Literoom images and filter displays MULTIPLE IDENTICAL IMAGES, under METADATA STATUS changed. .
Computer info - Literoom 4.3, windows 7, some 55,000 images on the hardrive, one catalog used.
When I go to folders, and click on J drive which holds these images, they all come up if filter is off of course. Now using metadata I search on a date, a camera, lense, etc. But I just want to find all of my images on a particular day. I can find those with no problem. My problem is that I may have 2 or more identical images display in grid and view as well as film strip. Looking up metadate status I find that these images are CHANGED. I understand that status, but there is no way that these multiple images would result from my work.
I searched for multiple files located in multiple folders - What is creating those multiple files, they are identical as to date, how they look, etc?
If I go to CATALOG, and work with the all the images there, found at the top of course, I get the same functionality, BUT THE MULTIPLE IMAGES ARE ABSENT.
It makes it difficult to keyword on images on a certain date, because of the multiple files.
Filters are NOT a powerful tool for organizing collections and keywords when this problem exists. My problem is not using filters, but understanding why multiple images.
I'm using LR3.6. Haven't upgraded to 4.1 yet. I created a PS droplet that I want to use in my LR Externa Editor. Everything works fine as far as calling the droplet from LR. However, when I select multiple images in LR, then go to external editor and select "Edit In <droplet name>", wait for the "What do Edit" dialogue box, select "Edit a copy with LR adjustments" and hit "edit", it only takes the very first highlighted image in the selection into PS to run the droplet/actions. Even if I just choose the droplet name as an external editor preset (instead of the "Edit in" option), it still only applies to the first image in the highlighed selection.
On occassions I get lucky and get it to work for multiple images but I can never get it to work again. For instace, I tried it from the Library module (instead of the develop module) and it worked flawlessly. On the next set of images, I could not get it to work again.
I really need to be able to run this over night. By the way, I know that I can use the droplet on Export, but I really want to round trip my images from LR to PS and back into LR without having to Export, run droplet and reimport.
In LR5, when two images are selected in Library view, the results in the Keyword Tags panel are incomplete. In my instance, two images were selected. They have some common keywords and those are properly displayed. However, the keywords assigned to only one image appeared with an asterisk in previous versions of LR, a behavior I would like to see continue.
In my instance, one keyword for, we'll say, Image A only, appears but with no asterisk, it should display an asterisk. And, one keyword unique to Image B does not appear at all when both images have been selected, it too should appear with an asterisk.
I'm on a Mac running 10.8.4 and LR CC.
The problem I have is that my cameras internal clock drifted out and I need to adjust the capture time of a number of images by an odd amount i.e not an integer number of hours.
That is alter the capture time on multiple images by an amount such as -1h 25m 35s and they are RAW image files.
