Lightroom :: Virtual Copies Didn't Import With Images
Jan 11, 2012I imported a large group of images from last October and 14 of them had virtual copies created from them, mainly the final copies of images I was using. When imported into a new catalog I created in Lightroom 4 beta, only the raw files came over, not the virtual copies. I do notice that they have all been updated to the 2012 process and I did not tell it to do that. I need to remove and reimport them? This could be a big problem for me as I really like to use Virtual Copies.

Jun 18, 2013The installation...seamless if slow (45min at least to install from the get-go). A bit of confusion over the fact that Bridge is now independent from PS.The first thing I noticed is that the workspace is really clean, almost elegant. It it a joy to my eyes to use. Next I went to my favorite tool about which I have had severe criticism in CS6, the crop tool.
It now works far better than CS6. You fixed the major objections I had. The only thing to catch may attention is that there is a switch to not center the crop. It doesn't work. Or maybe I don't understand what it actually means. Also, the additional crop proportions I added to CS6 did not transfer to CC.
But then I saw there is no Close or Minimize button! Not being able to minimize is a problem as I frequently have 2 or more windows running.

Nov 3, 2013Upgraded from PE9 to PE12 and the ratings and tags did not transfer to the organizer - or maybe they are there, but I do not know how find.
I also upgraded from Vista to Microsoft 7. Do I need to uninstall the Vista version and reinstall, or is there a different solution?

Jun 20, 2012I'm using a imac 2011 and I was trying for the first time to transfer an image from lightroom (version 3) to PS (version CS3 10.01) using these steps:
select image, right click to "edit in", then selected "open as a smart object in ps" and then PS opens BUT no image is in it..I have checked for updates but it says it's all good. I have also tried just "edit in PS CS3" but same thing!

I can't remember the name of this service, though. I recall, that, in order to use it, I had to sign up for a free 14-day trial, so it is a paid service, although at the time, I only needed it once (or so I thought).

It looks fine in the develop pane, but when I move to library module the sharpening and spot removal disappear (and reappear when I switch back to develop). The exported images are the same as the view in Library mode. How do I get the exported images to have the sharpening and spot removal that I've done in develop?

Jul 29, 2012Images coming from my Nikon D-90 (.jpgs) open into Photoshop CS6 just fine. However, CS6 now automatically un-flattens them. I'm only doing simple edits to the image like cropping and color-correction. If I click to close/save, I get prompted to save as a .psd file. I have to close the save window, flatten the image from the layers menu and then click save.
I know it's only a few clicks but I process dozens of images like this at a time. I've been all through the preferences and can't find anything that says "don't flatten."
Lightroom :: Upgraded To 5.3 - All Presets Gone
Dec 14, 2013i upgraded to LR 5.3 this morning, using the Store Presets with this catalog option, as well as the Upgrade wizard. When LR5.3 opened at the end of the process, all of my Import, Export, or Develop presets were gone. all of those folders are empty (for example C:UsersmePicturesLightroomLightroom SettingsDevelop PresetsUser Presets shows "This folder is empty"), and when i open LR 4.4 (the previous install), the presets are gone as well.

I would prefer to have just one.

Is there something else I need to do to allow me to use the tools on the existing catalogue? I have tried deleting the “Lightroom 4 Catalog.lrcat” importing the catalogue from within LR 4but I get the same result.

Oct 10, 2012Updated to LR 4.2, then when switching to 'edit in' Photoshop CS5 getting "This version of Lightroom may require photoshop camera raw plug-in version 7.2". However, checking for updates in Photoshop CS5 says all up to date as does LR. In the dialog I would say 'Open Anyway' and at some point I must have clicked the button to no longer show this message.
Now when I 'edit in' PS and come back to LR there is no entry in History, it's blank. In the past I would see one entry 'edited in PS' and then make further LR edits from there if needed. What happens now if I make an edit in LR I can't 'Reset' back to the original 'edited in PS' to start over because that doesn't exist in History. If I reset it will reset just above the last LR edit. This is awaful and has screwed up my workflow. It's damaged several PS -> LR edited images.
After LR 4.2 upgrade LR still showed an older version of RAW. Somewhere after I unchecked that box to stop the message, now when I look it says Camera Raw 7.2 even though I didn't do any further updates, and both LR and CS5 had reported they were up to date.
EDIT/UPDATE: I just found 'Reset all dialog boxes' in LR preferences and now I get the message again. It appears before I checked the box 'Don't show again' the last time I also clicked 'Render using Lightroom' rather than 'Open Anyway' which I was doing before that.
Now PS CS5 About -> Plug-in - Camera Raw is 6.7.0.339 and Lightroom 4.2 is Camera Raw 7.2 (?)

Dec 15, 2013LR 5.3 ask every time which catalog should be used. I select standard and all work fine. I select the catalog also at LR 5.3 Settings but if I quit LR and start again, LR ask the catalog question again.

I have setup smart collection to show all images that need to be saved to disk - "Metadata status has been changed". I did the update in smart collection and also in Library folder. On the disk xmp-file seems to be changed but in LR Metadata status is still "Has been changed". The files are CR2-files.After command status was one second "Up to date" but changed very soon "Has been changed". Metada Date was changed OK. Same happend with tif-files but not with jpg-files. All changes are in the sidecar file.
Lightroom :: Won't Export All Files And Doesn't Notify Which Ones It Didn't
Nov 29, 2012I have a large library and one day i wanted to make sure that none of the files were corupt so I thought of an idea to export my entire library to see if i get a notification if any of my files didn't export. I could then check on those files to see whats wrong. But trying to export that many images caused lightroom to crash so I exported by year instead. Some years were fine, but others like 2011 for example, out of 13906 images, only 9824 exported. I would be ok with that if lightroom notified me which images didn't export. Normaly, when i try to export images that are ofline, lightroom will tell me which ones didn't export and say that they can't be found. How am i supposed to find those 4000 images that didn't export if i don't know what there file names are? I tried exporting the previews as a catalog and all 13906 exported fine. I updated my dng previews and I even genereated new standard sized previews as well. I also ckecked for missing images under Library/Find Missing Photos, and there were none missing.

Lightroom :: Auto White Balance Didn't Work - Photos Turned Out Very Purple / Pink All Over
Jul 13, 2013I shot an event for a couple (a reception) and I didn't have my gray card so I set my Canon 5D mkII on auto white balance (shooting with a Canon 24-70 2.8 and a Sigma 85 1.4). As you'll see from the two example photos - the shots taken in the venue lobby looked fine, but the shots from inside the event itself were amazingly saturated. The room had a ton of very bright uplighting in purple and pink - the shots looked fine in the viewfinder, but once I brought them into LR4, there was a nearly complete purple/pink cast over everything. Setting the white balance in LR to auto, tungsten, flourescent - nothing worked. Adjusting the temp sliders - only slightly better. Reducing vibrance and saturation useful a little more, but I'm really having a hard time finding a fix!
