I'm using a imac 2011 and I was trying for the first time to transfer an image from lightroom (version 3) to PS (version CS3 10.01) using these steps:
select image, right click to "edit in", then selected "open as a smart object in ps" and then PS opens BUT no image is in it..I have checked for updates but it says it's all good. I have also tried just "edit in PS CS3" but same thing!
In the past (but only once), I have used an online service that allowed me to zip a large amount of high-resolution images and upload them to their website in order to transfer them to another person (the other person would download the images at their convenience, within an allotted amount of time), while maintaining their full image quality. I can't remember the name of this service, though. I recall, that, in order to use it, I had to sign up for a free 14-day trial, so it is a paid service, although at the time, I only needed it once (or so I thought).
I've been having problems with LR 5.2 when I do sharpening (and sometimes spot removal) in the develop module. It looks fine in the develop pane, but when I move to library module the sharpening and spot removal disappear (and reappear when I switch back to develop). The exported images are the same as the view in Library mode. How do I get the exported images to have the sharpening and spot removal that I've done in develop?
A recent book by Philip Andrews - ELEMENTS 10 FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS gives instructions on Page 34 of how to transfer images from iPhoto on my MAC to Elements 10 - Organiser.
However the Dialogue Box - "Import from iPhoto" does not open and therefore will not allow me to select the iPhoto EVENTS folders and transfer them to Elements Organiser as Albums.
It only provides the option to transfer all my images in i Photo as a complete block.
GIMP won't recognize images I downloaded using Nikon Transfer. They are in the Pictures library and a Nikon Transfer file shows with everything else when I click File Open, but I can't bring them up to work on in a normal way. I was able to physically move one of the images, listed as DSC, from Nikon Transfer to the Gimp window and modify it normally, but the image was very tiny in a full-screen Gimp window, (which lately I can't permanently get back to the normal size). Saved the image as xcf and jpg and placed in a new file, but still can't work on it.
So I just transferred my Lightroom catalog to a new computer. But none of my presets were transferred. Do I have to do that seperately? Also I'm having trouble even getting to my presets on my old computer. I can see them through Lightroom but can't seem to find them again out of Lightroom. Lightroom 4. Mac.
I will giving a presentation on editing options to our photographic society in a couple of weeks. One of members raised this question to me.
He is currently using PSE 10 to manage around 11,000 photos. He is getting into problems with the data base crashing and is looking at moving to Lightroom. He has been told that there is no way to make the transfer and will need to wait for LR 4 for a fix.
I edit my images for the most part in LR4 then export as a raw file into a new folder. Then when I view the images in bridge my edits don't show up. Do I have to convert to JPEG for my edits to stick?
I would like to purchase a new Mac before this good old Mac revolts completely. I store my images on external hard drives and have heard nightmares about others attempting to transfre to a new Computer. How do I safely transfer Lightroom to a new computer with as little stress as possible?
I have another person tagging my photos but transferring my RAW files is time consuming. If I export the RAWs as JPGs, then have them tag the JPGs, can I then get those tags transferred to the RAW from which they came?
Love the new basic editing sliders. But, finding when I "edit in > PS > edit with LR adjustments", the image in PS is NOT the same as in LR. It's "darker", the histogram isn't transferring properly.
I've been using Lightroom 4 on my Mac. My catalog is on my external hard drive that's been formatted to Mac (all my external hard drives are formatted to Mac right now, but as you know, those can be easily re-formatted).
Now I have a PC with Lightroom 5 and would really love to know how to safely transfer my catalog from Mac to PC?
I transferred my photos from Lightroom 2 to 4. Unfortunately all the changes I made in the develop module have been reset. In the develop module each photo still has a history of changes, with the last entry being 'Reset Settings', so by reverting to the prior entry I can bring the photo back to its developed state. But I would have to do this manually for every single photo. Is there any way I can reverse the reset on all photos?
I subcontract a lot of event work. I'm still using an older MBP which is 32bit so I can't upgrade to LR4 yet which requires a 64bit processor.
The studio that contracts me is running LR4 and they don't seem to think that the develop settings I make in LR3.5 are transferring to LR4. Is this possible?
I'm thinking an easy work-around would be to export all the files as DNGs? This would automatically include all changes that I make wouldn't it?
when I upgraded my catalog from Lightroom 4 to Lightroom 5, it appears that not all of the my develop settings transfered for all photos. If I am to open the catalog in Lightroom 4, the appear to still exist. How can I see all the settings in Lightroom 5.
I bought a new computer and am trying to transfer my files from the old computer to the new one. I thought I had it done right, brought the photos into the new computer, and then started working away. I have now discovered, none of my .jpg photos brought over the changes made. For instance, if I go into the Develop mode, all controls are set to "0". I revisited the old computer, and they are not all set to "0" there. What have I done and how do I correct this? I'll never change computers again with Lightroom.
