View 1 Replies View RelatedI know there was a recent issue on this, but I have the same problem but it seems not the same solution. I've transferred from PC to Mac, installed LR4, copied across my catalogue and preview files. I've imported my images (though should I have needed to do this if the catalog and preview were already there?) from the NAS where they live. The images are there, my keywords are there, but not the editing history and collections, which I really need.
View 13 Replies View Related I have two machines running LR3, a mac laptop and a windoze desktop. Both are using local disk and a central NAS. All files use sidecar (XMP) files.
Frequently I'll copy my pictures directory over to the NAS to back it up or, if I'm upgrading the big windoze box, I'll copy it's images over to the NAS in a different directory. I've also been known to prune the local folders since I know they're backed up and because I need the space for a project. This creates a situation where one folder on the NAS may have duplicate subfolders (say "2008 May") same as the notebook but may also have folders (say "2008 November") that don't exist on the notebook.
I could live happily with this mess except that now I want to make one big master catalog of ALL the images on the NAS, minus the duplicates. In other words, I want to clean stuff up.
If I just import the photos (as opposed to the catalog) I get the duplicates removed but then I lose all the collection sets and previews. If I import the catalogs then I get the collections and previews but I also get duplicates.
What I want is either a tool, or a means in LR3 to eliminate (or merge) the duplicates.
It could be an external file utility that compares two directories and eliminates the duplicates (followed by a LR3 catalog cleanup of missing files) or a way to import the catalogs, remove the duplicate entries and then export as a single file structure.
Id like to be able to put all of my select images in one folder so I can easily find images to develope at any given time.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have hundreds of DVD disks that I want to Catalogue. I import the files using just the ADD function into a newly created collection, yet once he DVD is ejected the files loose their path. I thought that files from external media did not have to exist on a hard drive to be catalogued. I used Portfolio before this adventure into Lightroom and I had nop problem at all. I have studied tutorials and the only discussion within these lessons is about files on connected hard drives or RAID systems.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIn the past (but only once), I have used an online service that allowed me to zip a large amount of high-resolution images and upload them to their website in order to transfer them to another person (the other person would download the images at their convenience, within an allotted amount of time), while maintaining their full image quality. I can't remember the name of this service, though. I recall, that, in order to use it, I had to sign up for a free 14-day trial, so it is a paid service, although at the time, I only needed it once (or so I thought).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with LR 5.2 when I do sharpening (and sometimes spot removal) in the develop module. It looks fine in the develop pane, but when I move to library module the sharpening and spot removal disappear (and reappear when I switch back to develop). The exported images are the same as the view in Library mode. How do I get the exported images to have the sharpening and spot removal that I've done in develop?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have several overlapping catalogs in my elements 10. The largest is coordinated with the online backup (which is due to be terminated). It has over 400 missing images that cannot be reconnected via the online backup. Some of the wayward images may be in one of the other catalogs or a download to the external hard drive from the online backup (done last year).
1. How can I merge the several catalogs, and should I?
2. How do I search the the file in the external hard drive? I.e., how do I designate this file in the "browse" dialogue box for where to reconnect? I can navigate to it, but then what?
A recent book by Philip Andrews - ELEMENTS 10 FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS gives instructions on Page 34 of how to transfer images from iPhoto on my MAC to Elements 10 - Organiser.
However the Dialogue Box - "Import from iPhoto" does not open and therefore will not allow me to select the iPhoto EVENTS folders and transfer them to Elements Organiser as Albums.
It only provides the option to transfer all my images in i Photo as a complete block.
I recently learned using presets in LR. I currently use LR5.2.
I recently installed a few third-party presets to LR.
I am very happy with the performance of these presets.
Here is a problem: I have many LR catalogs.
Is there a way to install all presets to catalog whenever I create new one (just like a default preset) and also to old catalogs?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I delete old copies of LR5's catalog off of my backup external drive, I leave the 3 most current. For some reason the next time I start LR, it cannot find the catalog, and I have to manually point to the backup, since I know that one is current. I'd assume the one in My Pictures is current also, but for some reason I keep getting this error.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several versions of my catalog due to "updates / upgrades" of the catalog. View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently converted to Mac from pc, and upgraded from LR 3.6 to LR 4 at the same time.Apple transferred all of my pc files transferred to the Mac, and then I downloaded the LR upgrade. That may have been a mistake, as all of the 3.6 catalogs remained on the PC. How do I get the 3.6 PC catalogs into the new version on the Mac? I'm thinking that perhaps I should uninstall LR, have Apple repeat the data migration, and then reinstall the LR 4? Or, is there another way?
