Updated my preivous copy of Ligtroom 4.2 to 4.3 when I opened lightroom 4.3 it was a new copy without any of my previous catalogs or images or publishing. How can I transfer 4.2 information to 4.3?
View 2 RepliesAfter importing my images into Lightroom 5.3, I discovered that the GPS location data was imported for some images, but not for others. When I checked the metadata files for the same images in Bridge, the location data was present for all of my recently downloaded images.
Why would Lightroom import the GPS data for some images and not others?
Is there any way to import the location data from the Bridge metadata files into Lightroom?
I prefer using multiple catalogs rather than 1 large one, as I prefer to organize via event/date. The issue I've encountered is, that every time I create a new catalog, I have to reenter my information on the flickr plugin, and assume that all the plugins work this way. So simply, is it possible to enter the login info the 1 time, and have it load for every catalog? The other option I can explore if there is no simple fix for this issue is to edit the existing flickr plugin, the biggest issue with this however is that the 1 in SDK 5.0 is now outdated/unuseable and the plugin installed is a single file and not multiple editable lua files.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen metadata is saved in the underlying photo (whether JPG, DNG or side-car XMP) it would be very nice to include the Lightroom develop history states. This allows the photo and state to exist outside Lightroom or later be moved to a different catalog or different machine without the need to export/import catalogs themselves. It would also assist in rebuilding a catalog from scratch if the catalog were damaged but the underlying files were not.

I do not have the LR 1 or 2 serial numbers. I don't mind matching everything up manually, I just want to make sure LR4 will read my previous catalogs.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have images that I export as a catalog from my notebook and external drive to my desktop . Did this all the time before the release candidate 4.1 without a hint of problems. With 4.1, it crashes 90% of the time....average export/import of a catalog I am running is about 3000 images. What is particularly wierd is that it crashes on multiples of 500. Normally first crash is at 500, the next at 1000 or 1500 and so forth.

The thing is that I lost my main catalog in a hard-drive failure and my last backup is too old. Fortunately I always "export a folder as catalog" into the original pictures folder, so I always keep starring, color editing, etc.
What I would like to do now is to import each of these litle catalogs into one new main one, without having to import each at a time, but all simultaneously, which would save me an enormous amount of time.
Is there a way to do this?

View 1 Replies View Related I have two machines running LR3, a mac laptop and a windoze desktop. Both are using local disk and a central NAS. All files use sidecar (XMP) files.
Frequently I'll copy my pictures directory over to the NAS to back it up or, if I'm upgrading the big windoze box, I'll copy it's images over to the NAS in a different directory. I've also been known to prune the local folders since I know they're backed up and because I need the space for a project. This creates a situation where one folder on the NAS may have duplicate subfolders (say "2008 May") same as the notebook but may also have folders (say "2008 November") that don't exist on the notebook.
I could live happily with this mess except that now I want to make one big master catalog of ALL the images on the NAS, minus the duplicates. In other words, I want to clean stuff up.
If I just import the photos (as opposed to the catalog) I get the duplicates removed but then I lose all the collection sets and previews. If I import the catalogs then I get the collections and previews but I also get duplicates.
What I want is either a tool, or a means in LR3 to eliminate (or merge) the duplicates.
It could be an external file utility that compares two directories and eliminates the duplicates (followed by a LR3 catalog cleanup of missing files) or a way to import the catalogs, remove the duplicate entries and then export as a single file structure.
Id like to be able to put all of my select images in one folder so I can easily find images to develope at any given time.

I import the files using just the ADD function into a newly created collection, yet once he DVD is ejected the files loose their path. I thought that files from external media did not have to exist on a hard drive to be catalogued. I used Portfolio before this adventure into Lightroom and I had nop problem at all. I have studied tutorials and the only discussion within these lessons is about files on connected hard drives or RAID systems.

I am just about to replace my PC. I assume that when I connect my external drive to the new PC, it is unlikely to be Drive M. How do I maintain access through the catalogs with all the stored information?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI believe that only exporting the smart collection settings is not enough. I have in my collections a hierarchy of collection set, collection and smart collection that works with my workflow:
-special [CS]
-- pano [SC]
-- fuse [SC]
-themes
-- holiday... [SC]
-- ...
- worklist [CS]
-- dominant color [CS]
--- dominant color to review [SC]
--- dominant color reviewed [C]
-- weather [CS]
etc.
-- geography [CS]
etc.
Being able to export the hierarchy from one specific node would be great when I switch from catalog to catalog. After all, smart collections content can be re-created.
I've seen that in the DB, there are these two tables that would need to be 'copied' : agLibraryCollection & agLibraryCollectionContent. Their IDs when importing in the new catalog would probably pose a problem if we were just to import them like that.
On the other hand, there are in the SDK some functions to go through the collections and some functions to create collections, collection-sets, smartCollections...
Would it be difficult to include such a functionality in a future release ?Would it be difficult or possible to write in the mean time a plugin that would do just that: import/export collection hierarchies ?
I tried rebooting but there seems to be no way to move images from the grid under folders to catalogs. Can't drag and drop in LR 5.3.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis issue occured shortly after update to 4.2, but not directly after. I am using windows 8.
The issue that occurs is after importing images they are adjusted automatically to develop module cross process 1. After dealing with this annoyance for a bit of time I realized that I can not even "RESET ALL" the images to delete the adjustment. In delving into other images that have been in my database for quite some time, I have tried to "RESET ALL", which resets images to CROSS PROCESS 1. I have never set import to automatically adjust.
I just upgraded from LR3.6 to 4.0. When trying to import images the import module freezes for a few minutes and then displays the import screen. However, when selecting a source the program freezes again and eventually crashes.
I had the same issue when upgrading to 3.6 some time ago and then found that disabling some USB controllers solved the problem. This works for LR4 as well. As I don't need all USB connections this is a workable solution, however, disabling controllers should not be necessary to run a program.
System is an Acer Aspire 7811 64 bits w/ Intel i7, Win 7 Home Premium, 8 GB internal mem and no external drives.
I'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.
I'm trying to import photos into LR3.3, and the thumbnails are grayed out, as is the import button. The photos come from two other cameras -- one Canon Elf, the other I'm not sure. I received them through dropbox, and they open fine with Bridge and Photoshop CS4.

I am facing the following problem in Autocad 2012:
I have set all the drawings I want to print in the Sheet Set Manager and I publish everything to plotter for unattended plotting. However, when publishing the same drawings to PDF using the SSM, all raster images do no print. If I open each drawing and plot the same layout on its own, everything prints just fine. So I think there is something wrong when publishing through the SSM.
The funny thing is that before using Autocad 2012 I was using version 2010 and everything worked as expected, the raster images were printed no matter where I was printing from.
I created an animation which was working just fine within animate and which I was also able to successfully export as an oam file to then be used on Wordpress.However when I reloaded the animation within edge the next day to make some adjustments, the majority of svg images I used are not showing on the canvas. Theyre present on the stage, elements and assets but when I select, only the box is visible and not the image. Theyre set to be visible (the little eye thingy) but aside from that, theyre a no-show.

What I am doing is for every new set of images, say a wedding, I am setting up a new catalogue on the off board HD.
I then import the images as DNG's & that's after first off loading them as the original Nikon RAW files (I don't trust either LR or myself to get it right) onto another HD.
So, now I have 2x copies.
One original non-PP RAW files
One open in LR as DNG's which I then work upon.
Now, a few days later, I plug in the HD into my PC and Lo! File name is off line or missing.
This happens more often than not, so maybe 75% of my work flow is stymatised by having to work out what's happened or I have to start again on the PP.
At this point, I am trying to both open the .lrcat file either from within LR / File / Open Recent or directly from the file on the offboard HD.
I can see the DNG's but LR seems unable to do so.
What error am I making?
I recently upgraded from Lightroom 4.x to 5.3, and I am now unable to import any new images. The import dialog allows me to select files, but once I press the import button (and this includes using "Add", "Copy", and "Copy as DNG"), nothing happens. I've left it 'transferring' overnight — nothing. I eventually cancel and a box pops up that says "No photos or videos were found to import.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling LR5 and working with a fresh catalog. No luck. I even deleted all the preference files and everything. Nothing. I'm about to be in a real bind if I can't import new work soon.
When I insert a CF card into my reader, thumbnails of my images appear in the organizer. When I click on "Import", the following message appears: "The following files were not imported because they could not be read." I didn't have this problem with versions 2 or 3 of Lightroom.
View 8 Replies View RelatedRecently purchased LR5. When I import from my CompactFlash card via an external card reader, images do not import. Only blank grey thumbnails; no matter how long I wait. If I double click on a blank thumbnail, the image does show up. When I return to the thumbnail view, a bunch of surrounding images will appear as thumbnails, but not all. In order to get all of the images on the card to show as thumbnails, I have to double click on numerous thumbnails until all thumbnail images are loaded. If I'm importing photos to different folders, I have to go through this process over and over again.
