GIMP :: Won't Recognize Images That Downloaded Using Nikon Transfer
Aug 12, 2012
GIMP won't recognize images I downloaded using Nikon Transfer. They are in the Pictures library and a Nikon Transfer file shows with everything else when I click File Open, but I can't bring them up to work on in a normal way. I was able to physically move one of the images, listed as DSC, from Nikon Transfer to the Gimp window and modify it normally, but the image was very tiny in a full-screen Gimp window, (which lately I can't permanently get back to the normal size). Saved the image as xcf and jpg and placed in a new file, but still can't work on it.
I can't open a PS file sent by a friend, she sent it by wetransfer, the file did fall on desktop with name given in save before downloading.Looks like white page with bent top right corner, PS says Could not complete your request because PS Does not recognize thin kind of file.
I just upgraded my regular DSLR to a full frame Nikon D600. I've shot in RAW for a long time and never had any trouble with Elements 9 opening my RAW files via Camera Raw. I can't find which version of Camera Raw I have, but I know it does not recognize the Nikon D600 because it's so new. What version of Camera Raw should I download to make this work or is there a version of Camera Raw that recognizes the D600?
I have Photoshop CS5 Version 12.0 (x64). Photoshop recognises Nikon D 800 Raw files BUTBridge does not. I have tried updates but my Apple Mac Pro does not recognise them
I'm using PhotoShop Elements 11. while trying to open NEF files from Nikon D600 I'm getting message "Could Not Complete your request because the files appears to be from a Camera Model which is not supported....." . Now I tried to update but its showing software is upto date. Camera Raw version I can see 7.1.0.354.
Installed Lightroom 4.2 to read NEF files from a Nikon D600 and it says preview unavailable and it does not recognize the files..on a PC with windows 7..
I've been trying to figure this out for over a week since I got my D800 and am not making any progress. I am using LightRoom 4.1 and Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 on a Mac OS X v10.6.8.
I read that I need ACR 6.7 in order to recognize the D800 NEF files, but I don't know how to remove 7.1. I tried deleting ACR from my .library folder and reinstalling 6.7 but it still says it's 7.1 when I open up LR4.1 again. Also, I only have Photoshop CS5 and I read that 7.1 supports the D800 NEF files in CS6 only.
On a probably unrelated note, I bought the educational version of LR4 and when I go back to my email that contained the download link, it shows a blank page on "My Orders" even though I've purchased this and other educational versions from Adobe in the last few years. I got the LR4.1 download file and reinstalled after removing the release candidate I was checking out, but wasn't prompted for my registration code that was in my purchase email.
As I have done for years I shoot in RAW and use Nikon transfer to load images from the card to my laptop and external drive. AFter I sort the images by subject I import them to Lightroom for the final touches. Not so with Lightroom 4.2 and Nikon D600..Adobe says if yousue transfer than 4.2 will not recognize the files and too bad ...as a company they are going downhill..I hope they correct the problem so I can import the 1500 images into Lightroom for final conversions.
I had to re download PDN a little while back, when i did, i made it my default image viewer. as soon as i set this, now every time i download an image, it automatically opens PDN, slowing down my download time, and just generally difficult. How to turn this off?
in the gimp plug-in registry i downloaded 6 scm files... I hunted for folders in the gimp program folder to see if I can find any folders currently housing scm files but was unsuccessful at finding any... where am i supposed to put them?
I upload my customer proofs with LR to my website for easy viewing. I would estimate that I loose 25% of potential orders due to theft. How can I protect the images on my website from being downloaded or copied?
When downloading photos from I photo I mistakingly downloaded every image on my hard drive including numbers, symbols and things which I never saw before. How do I delete those images so that when I use illustrator I see only my photographs? There must be thousands of unwanted images.
When I right click downloaded brushes the options Duplicate Brush and Delete brush are greyed out and when I click Edit Brush I can't change anything. That is a problem because from the more than two hundred brushes I have right now I only need/like about 20 or 30. Those options are available only in brushes I created myself, by the way.
I have installed my Photoshop CS2 on my new computer. It will not recognize my raw images. I get a message that says "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document". I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it again but I am still getting the same message.
I have also registered it with my serial number, but every time I get into the program I get a prompt telling me I need to register.
Have 20,000 photos in Lightroom 4.1 and need to replace hard drive. Was able to transfer images to new drive. How do I get Lightroom to recognize images on the new drive?
