Sep 16, 2012All working OK until 8 days ago, then bridge just disappeared completely. Looked like it had opened but would disappear when I clicked on the icon. Re-installed, Bride now visible but unable to view .CR2 files in camera RAW or in Photoshop, comes up as "unable to open".
Have tried to install the 5.7 camera raw update, extract files, click on application, then Photoshop opens and advises "invalid file type". Not sure what to do now and have a large number of wedding files slowly building up .

Mar 23, 2012I know there is the option to "treat jpg as seperate files" in the library, but i feel it clutters up the library so i tend to avoid this. However, if i treat them as the same, the JPG does get saved into the hard-drives directories, but it isn't visible at all in LR. I understand that this is by design, but what is the point of it then, if there is no way for me to look at the jpg (e.g. for comparison).
so my question: is there a way to see the jpg file, unless i treat it as a seperate file (and hence de facto duplicate the number of images in my library)? what i am looking for, is occasionally being able to view that jpg that has been saved to the directory.
Lightroom :: Unable To Read CR2 Files?
Apr 24, 2013I recently upgraded from a mac mini to a macbook pro retina using migration assistant and time machine backup. All went well, and since all my photos were on an external drive, no problems there. However, when I try to import new photos, I see the images, but then get a list of the .CR2 files and an error message of "unable to read files." This is a Sandisk Extreme 16 GB SD card, and it still successfully works on the old mac. Following a similar issue in the forum, I checked permissions, and those appear to all be correct. I'm running LR 4.4.

May 25, 2013Since updating to LR 4.4, I have been unable to download RAW file formats. In addition, normal .jpg files stopped working today! I can successfully still download into LR 3.6 which I kept on my system. I'm shooting with a Canon 1D Mark X and using LR on an iMac.

Feb 22, 2014I am unable to import NEF files into the new Lightroom 5.3, I recieve the following error message: "The files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom. (251)" and then each .NEF file is listed separately. I am using the latest and most updated Lightroom software and a Nikon 3300. I get this message if I try to import directly from the SD card or if I try to import from the desktop (after copying the SD card contents onto my desktop). I also am unable to import directly from the camera. I'm using a promaster performance 32GG SD card that I formated in the Nikon 3300 before I started shooting. I took three pictures that were just JPGs on the card and these improt okay using any mechanism. All the other photos were taking RAW+JPG.

Apr 7, 2013I am using a MacBook Pro and Lightroom 4.4.
When importing I use the "Copy as DNG" feature and that works just fine for the RAW impages.
I then switch to the "Copy" feature to copy some JPG imsages taken with another camera and they are not copied. The information in the window is "Cound not copy a file to the requested location" and lists all files I tried to import. If I copy the files manually into the folders/locations that Lightroom should have done, the "Add" fearire works just fine.
I am just puzzled as to why Lightroom cannot copy the files to the folders that are there and add the image to the catalog on its own. Converting RAW to DNG works fine so what needs to be done to allow Copy to do the same thing.

Jul 16, 2013I am unable to export any files from LR5. This just barely started happening. I have not had this issue, and I have been using LR5 for a few weeks on two different computers with no problems. I have checked all my settings several times, and tried restarting the program. It still won't export! It goes through all the files, and then a little pop-up window comes up saying it could not export the files.

Aug 26, 2013I've just imported all my photo's into LR5 in order to categorise and delete where appropriate (In Library mode). Although JPG files are displayed where no RAW files exist, JPEG files are not displayed where corresponding RAW (CR2) files exist. I have checked the box in Preferences to treat JPEG files next to RAW files as seperate photos, but this seems to have no effect.

Jan 5, 2013If I select 5 files to rename it might rename 4 of them but not the 5th. If I try that one file by itself I get an error message saying it cannot do it. If I exit LR completely and try the file in Explorer I sometimes with still get the error message that dynamiclinkmediaserver.exe is using the file.
This is a real pain as I have over 400 video clips to tag and name and I have now spent two days on this issue.

May 11, 2013I know that Lightroom is unable to generate previews for PSD files if they haven't been saved with the Maximize Compatibility option. But, it seems that once you begin a preview for a folder Lightroom gets stuck in that mode even if you then go ahead and resave the file with the Maximize Compatibility option set to Always.
In a test just now I opened one of the problem files in Photoshop CS6 and saved it. Then I went back to Lightroom and tried to reimport the file but it still said Preview Unavailable. I tried toggling on/off a couple of layers and resaving but it. So, next I actually tried making a change to the file and resaving. That still didn't work. I've tried exiting from the Import dialog in LR and restarting the import and even restarting Lightroom but nothing makes a difference.
