I have a similar question about captions. In general I want to show the contents of the "caption" metadata, but for some slides that doesn't work well. Can I get more control over these things?

Jun 25, 2012I want the Intro screen in a Slideshow to contain some background or introductory text. The Intro screen may be customized by editing the identity plate, but only to provide text on one line - not very useful. The Intro screen consists of the Identity Plate against the background created jointly with the Backdrop controls.
So, I thought this would be easily solved by creating a 'photo' in PS, with the text I require on a transparent background. Then import as another slide. Easy Peasy.
No, not quite, as Saving As... in PS as JPG does not work, TIF offers to save transparency but LR does not honour the promise. I tried GIF, but LR doesn't even 'see' GIFs.
I am sure that Adobe, in the 4.1-th generation of LR, will not have made this impossible....

Jan 12, 2013After scanning a silde as a TIFF, when I import into the Lightroom library the file size is only about 1/6th the size of the file scanned onto my hard drive. A 50MB scan becomes an 8MB LR file. If I take the file into Photoshop it is still 50MB. I tried saving the photoshop file with a different name and then bringing into LR but it still ends up at 8MB. I get the same problem using both VueScan 9.0.90 and Silverfast 8.0 scanning software. How do I keep the original file size?

Sep 20, 2013I switched to lightroom 5. There is one change from 4, which I like to be undone and maybe there is a way to achive this via some setting. When I am in slide show mode with full screen the next and previous slide cannot be reached any longer by the left and right arrow. This used to be possible and it is very good if one wants to test a slide show without waiting for the next picture for 5 seconds (or whatever the delay is). It is also nice to have a quick possibility to have a look at the previous picture again.
Is there a way to reenable the arrow keys?

Feb 18, 2012I started using a mac laptop in the field and always used windows pc at home. A portable hard drive holds the lightroom catalog. It's fat32 formatted so it can be used by both mac and windows.
A catalog made by the mac lightroom opens fine in windows. However, all the color labels are lost. The flags and stars are retained.
If a color label is changed on a photo by the windows version of lightroom, then when that catalog is opened on the mac, that photo has no color label. (even though the mac originally gave it a color label)
And all the original color labels that were made by the mac magically return as they were assigned.
To trouble shoot this, I installed the Lightroom 3.6 trial on 2 other pcs - one runs windows 7 32 bit and the other windows 7 64 bit. These installs see the mac created catalog properly.
All the color labels are there and changing one on a windows box is properly reflected on the mac when that catalog is opened.
This is so annoying.My main pc must have an allergy to my mac. I removed and reinstalled lightroom on my pc-same problem. Now i have to figure out what is interfering with my main pc lightroom install.
It cant be lightroom cause i removed it and reinstalled it. but it might be one of the plug ins i use. these magically reappearred even after i reinstalled lightroom after removing it.

Jul 24, 2012Recently I have decided to give client viewings of their wedding photographs rather than an online gallery as I feel it's more personal and has better impact on a large TV screen with added music. I really like the simple LR interface and have gotten around the well known music feature issue by splicing tracks in Audacity.However, the last time I tried to use the 'export to video' function it took about an hour to create 25% of it (370 photos), so I had to abandon it and take the whole PC. This time I left plenty of time and it was running overnight, and yes, a lovely MPEG-4 is now sat in my video files.
I've just played it back and it seems to have lost all the timings that I meticulously spent hours perfecting. The 2.6 second duration I have set is much shorter and now all the slides don't fit with the music. I've been back to check settings when exporting and there are no options at all. Am I missing something or is export to video still in it's infancy?

When I click on the individual photo in the Timeline view and drag it to extend or decrease the amount of time it plays for, it affects the duration of the following photo, either lengthening it or shortening it. Is there a way to adjust one photo’s duration without affecting the next in line? Jan 7, 2013I've been using Ps CS5 with a wacom graphics tablet on my mac for over a year now, and have been unable to use the brush feature for the entire duration. With or without the graphics tablet, brush strokes come out as pixelated. I've gotten around that by using the mixer brush instead, which doesn't come out pixelated. However, that's pretty limiting.
I've trained on Ps with a graphics tablet on other computers prior to owning it without this problem and researched on forums to no avail. I've reinstalled both the tablet and Ps and had no luck.

Aug 17, 2012I'm trying to create a photo slideshow DVD. I've used one of the instant project templates. Populated the placeholders and then dropped my photos into one of the video overlay tracks. I now want to increase the duration from 3s to 6s. I have tried doing so by dragging out the first clip to 6s and by double clicking and manually editing to 6s. The result is the same: I get 3s of random transition between that clip and the next.
What I want to do is create 6s photo clips with a transition between each clip. So, how do I increase the photo duration to be visible for 6s and how do I then drop a transition between all the clips? I don't want to add them manually as there are nearly 200 photos?

The lighting settings is not so good as 2011 and requires alterations. The View - Lighting setting is always turns to Two Light instead of desired Default. The question is how to permanently set it to desired setting in ALL project? When I create the new lighting style it is visible only in that file. New 2012 has option of showing the name of part or assembly while cursor stops hovering over the object. Is it any time setting of duration of that option? It is quite annoying waiting for turning off or shutting down unwanted show up. It also either work or not work at all.
