Using LR v5.3. 6000 images on my HDD and in the LR catalog.
I wish to search for all images oriented in the portrait view. I've checked the metatdata search options, and think I've determined that there is no criteria for an image in the portait orientation orientation.
1) In LR4, Search for images using Keywords (click on arrow next to Keyword).
2) Select image, export to PS6, save as Tif.
3) Tif retains all Keywords when it appears in LR
4) Despite that, image does not show up in the same 'Search for images using Keywords'.
I'm looking for a B&W I know I printed. It is in a collection with 3000+ images. I know the meta data shows when a file was printed. Is there a way I can filter images that were printed? I It would narrow down my search to maybe 100 images.
View 10 Replies View RelatedLightroom 4 just converted all my images from LR3. The problem is that I can't look up anything in the "All Photographs" catalog. Although all photos are available in the folders below, all the collections are intact, the All Photographs catalog shows 30K images, and all other functions seem normal, clicking on it shows a blank screen with this message:Click "import..." button to beginBegin what? The import button takes you to the normal import screen with "source" as being the first step. Does it want me to pick all the photographs that are already in the catalog, so that it can... import them? The catalog already has all this information. Right now the only way I can do a search on the catalog is to do it from a folder or collection. I need to search the entire catalog!

I have tested this in both LR4 and 4.1RC2. 3.x versions and below I never seemed to have a problem. Using Windows 7 x64 SP1.If I have an export preset that adds a text watermark, it works fine in any image that is either already smaller than, or gets resized to 3118 pixels in height. If I tell it to resize to 3119 pixels, then the watermark is never added.
I usually crop all my images to 8x10 ratio. And then dont resize them at all, so they stay at their maximum resolution.The watermark is simply a TTF Font, set to show up proportionally in the lower right corner.

I'm using Lightroom 5.2RC. Not sure if this started happening with the 5.2RC version or if it's been an issue for a while.
While in Library mode, when I choose a library search filter preset, say all 5 stars, and then toggle the filter off and on again, the search criteria randomizes to something wildly different than what I was just searching for, for example, adding text and metadata to the search queries when I only had star attributes selected a few seconds before.
I've experimented with turning the filter lock icon on and off and that seems to have no effect. Switching between folders in my catalog and toggling search off and on, results in the same random search criteria being generated.
Lightroom 4.2 – the situation is this, I have a number of pictures of group shots with many people. I tag each person in each photo. I show my photos to these people and they would like a print of photos with them in it. I am an amature photographer currently located in India where most people have no cameras, so I normally oblige if someone wants my of them pictures printed. On one such occasion I took a week long trip with some friends.After showing them the pictures I tagged “Print for Raju”, “Print for Priya”, “Print for Varun”. The problem arises now when I try to search keywords in the “contains all” section, “print for varun” doesn’t do an exact search. Rather if Raju wanted a picture of Varun printed, that picture would have the tag “Varun” and “print for Raju” and which would make the photo included in my search “print for varun” even if varun doesn’t want the picture.
Is there a way to search EXACTLY what I type? If my picture has 15 tags, “contains all” will search all those tags and if it can piece together the three words I am searching for out of all of the tags, it will reveal results inconsistent with my desires.I realize now that I could use collections instead of tags for compiling pictures to print for people.
I've been having problems selecting images in the library module when multiple images are in view (not down in the timeline, but in the main window). It seems sporadic with which ones it won't let me select, it somehow manages to be the ones that I need to click....!! I just literally can't click it as if it were an image I already imported or something, but it's not grayed out like that. I've been having to select a nearby image then use my arrow keys to navigate to and click the image I need.

I guess I'm also having a hard time figuring out how to resize my portrait and landscape images to get them close to the same size, which seems to be another option according to the article.
I know large images first need to be resized for page loading speed. Normally, I resize from 4608x3072 to 1200x800. (Portrait 3072x4608 will resize to 800x1200). But, then do I resize again or crop?
I'm open for the simplest way for me to do this and remember the reasoning and methodology. I'm working on a work-related website, but I also want to build a separate personal website for my photography.
When i change from portrait too landscape the drawing still prints in portrait. What can i do too solve this?

I do not have the '?' so this isn't a problem but I don't know what else it can be. I am using 4.1 but currently downloading 4.2 (very painful, almost impossible in Indonesia), but I would imagine this shouldn't be an issue either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI make regular use of a Flash image gallery that requires me to provide small square 50 x 50px thumbnails whatever the shape of the original images. The only solution I have found so far is to first manually sort my original images into landscape and portrait folders and then run a different action on each folder to create the thumbnails.
Is there any way to design an action that would work equally well on both landscape and portrait images?
I currently have Graphics Suite 12. As you know there are 3 CD discs full of fonts and CDR files . . . . how do I view them . . . how do I search them??In the "good ol' daze" Coral gave us a thing called a BOOK that showed all the fonts and CDR images on the disc, but alas . . . no more books . . . all those hundreds CDR files would be very useful . . . if I knew what they were (same with all the fonts).

I would like to be able to view the LR2 catalog or images in LR4, but not necessarily convert all the photos to LR4. I have been told that I should not do a wholesale conversion of the images to LR4. I am not sure how to view the LR2 images in LR4 without converting the catalog. Is there a way to accomplish this without a wholesale conversion?

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I was browsing through my images library and I noticed that some of the images are dimmed. By dimmed, I mean that they appear desaturated... as though LR4 is trying to tell me something about the image... but I don't know what.
If I click on the image I can edit it. It appears normal when it is the "current image" (bright colors again). But as soon as I make another image the "current image" the other image goes back to the dimmed look.
This is only true for some images.
I was able to re-order images in the grid view just by dragging them. Now I cannot move images.

It looks like I need to install Camera Raw 5.2 or later but I can only file 'Update' downloads which fail to install. LH says it's up-to-date when I check for updates and theres no Plug-In Extras available..

I have lost the grid view of my images on my Mac Book Pro. All I can get is the loupe view. I have lightroom 4.2. How can I get the grid view back?
View 4 Replies View Relatedhaving just purchased version 4.1 a few days ago. I've imported about 2,500 RAW image files into the program and am learning the ropes for developing and organizing them.
The problem I'm having is that much of the time I'm unable to select photos in the grid view. When I place the mouse pointer over a square in the grid containing a photo, I expect it to "light up" and display the icons for flagging/rotating/rating the photo. In practice, this doesn't happen most of the time and grid squares that won't "light up" cannot be selected. As I move the mouse around the grid, the occasional grid square will act as expected but most of the others will not. The behavior seems random -- a grid square that acts properly one moment may not respond the next time I mouse over it, and other grid squares that were unresponsive may now act as expected.
I've tried pausing over the image for an extended period of time in case this is a performance issue, but if a grid square doesn't light up when I first put the mouse pointer over it then leaving the pointer on it won't get it to respond. If I move the pointer elsewhere on the grid and then bring it back, the square may or may not react.
