I imported some RAW image files to lightroom (initially files were at laptop) and worked with files (editing). Now I would like to move those RAW files to an external HD (in order to save space on my laptop HD). How can I save the editings that I have done into the files in order to not loose all the ediging work? This is the metadata save option?
View 5 RepliesI have a PC, I've tried to safe my NEF/RAW files with the edits and it will only save either unedited photo's or jPegs. I choose export and a file to export to. WHen I open the folder the photo's are all unedited.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having an ongoing problem with Lightroom 3.6. Once I have loaded the photos into Lightroom and decide to save a copy of the raw files for security, the files in Lightroom are "Lost" and I have to delete them all out of Lightroom and from the harddrive where they still are and reimport from the external harddrive. I am sure this is not normal. I would like to backup my photos especially while travelling but have resorted to "risking" it because of this issue. It happened once and I thought I must have done something daft but I was recently travelling again and exactly the same issue reacurred. I was travelling with a professional photographer who uses Lightroom all the time and he did not understand what was going on - he had never had the problem. The only difference was that I use a PC and he uses APPLE. I am very anxious to address this problem because I think I am tempting fate not backing up my photos. I am using a DELL XPS L502X Direct Base 15 laptop with i7; 8GB dual-channel; 750 GB 7200RPM hard drive and is less than 12 months old and I am using Lightroom 3.6 64 bit.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just had a problem with LR4. Instaled the full version a few days ago on my old computer. Just got a new computer where I instaled LR4 and imported all my latest work and noticed that all video (.mov) metadata were not saved on to files (Photos are OK!!!) So all editing and rating/flags/color filter I've done is gone.
Thought that I forgot to save Metadata on my old computer and did a couple of tests.
I did some rating and some color filters on my actual catalog then saved the metadata a couple of times. Removed from the Library and re-imported and the metadata were not there again. Did the same to Photos and is fine!
LR4 does not write XMP to video files?
Just lost hours of work on cuting and rating a video Job since my old computer is gone.
I have 9 separate files/folders of images on my drive in LR . I want to save (export) the images to one CD, keeping the images in the 9 separate files as named in the hard drive. How do I do this?

Since then, i have been unable to write new metadata, such as captions, keywords, etc., to both the JPG and Tif files. LR3, and now also LR5 both only seem to want to write to the tiff files. How do i get the metadata easily saved onto the jeg files as well? (preferably without re-importing as separate files).

No matter how I move files (move the folder within LR, move the folder than then re-sync in LR, etc) it always loses the History. I've searched and have found numerous "tutorials" on how to properly move files but can't seem to be able to keep the History along with it (I get the last state of the image, but not the actual history itself).

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have just recently installed AutoCAD LT 2014 on Windows 7 (Running on an intel iMac through Bootcamp). Ever since then i am receiving notifications when performing a save.
AutoCAD is telling me it cannot perform the save and is creating a .tmp file in the same location on the server as the file should be.
this is causing major performance issues and happens almost every second time I attempt to perform a save. The issue is that we are getting multiple versions of the same file duplicating on the file server which is very quickly going to cause capacity issues considering most files are 2-4mb in size.
When I export a file from Lightroom 4 to Photoshop Elements 11 to edit. I make my edits, then click "Save." For some reason it opens the "Save-As" dialog box. How can I fix this so that I only click "Save" and then let the file return to Lightroom?

No error messages, it just disappears. Running it on a Mac OS X Mavericks. Have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, created a new profile which worked for a few saves, but started doing it on the new profile as well.

Sometimes a save-as works but not guaranteed. The file is being saved to a mounted server volume and sometimes the only way to get the file on the server is to save to the desktop and then copy the file back to the server. Issue 1 - Printing to a PFD" file crashes x6.2
Issue 2 - tried to save file to an earlier version 14.0 to use on a epilog laser and the files are now corupt and can not be save as version 16.0 any more.
Issue 3 - Files saved to version 14.0 format can not be opened corel draw x5 for the laser to cut.
When I'm done drawing something on Corel, I can't save, save as, save as template, export, send to, print, merge or publish. I can't even cut or copy, I can only paste. I can't run scripts or add-ons either. I don't have a trial, and I have Windows XP. I've had Corel for months before this problem happened out of the blue.?

We just installed a new server 2 days ago (Windows Storage Server 2003) and when trying to save files from Photoshop 7 we get the error "the disk is full" now the server has 1.27 TB of space left so we know its not that.
Now the strange part of this problem, its only going on with Photoshop. the users are able to save the files to their desktop and drag them in the folders on the server with no issues, and can save from other programs to the server without issue so we know its not a permission problem.
when trying to save a file to an external hard drive directly connected to my mac g5, I get an error message sating that Photoshop can't save the file. The only way around this is for me to save the file to the desktop and then copy it to the external drive.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using PS 7 for a few years and have never experienced this problem. I received a CD of client photos today (JPGs) from one of our photographers, a photographer I've been working with for a couple years. I'm able to open the files in PS 7, but when I try to save any of them after adjusting, it gets to the final SAVE prompt, I click SAVE and get an error saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error". This happens with every file on the CD. I checked the file properties and they're correct. Nothing locked.
I tried opening one of the files in PS 5.5 and was able to save with no problem. Then when I opened that file in PS 7, I was able to do a save. But none of the others will allow a save...just that one file I'd opened and and saved in PS 5.5.
Also, in PS 7 I'm able to save the files as TIFs, but when I try to resave the TIFs as JPGs, I get the same error. Odd
I'm not having problems with other JPG files on other CDs, just this one. Our salesman told me the photographer said he's using "new software", so I'm wondering if it's possible the new software could be doing something to the files that PS 7 can't handle but PS 5.5 can?
I'm using WIN XP Pro.
My friend told me that in Autodesk Edition 2013, we can save files that are worked in Max as Maya and vice-versa. Since I find it easy to Model in Maya and texturing in Max easy, i got both Maya and Max 2013. I found how to save Max files to Maya. but I can't find maya's "Send To".

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a new plotter. IT set it up, but they know nothing about autocad. I plot on the new plotter fine. When I print to my small printer I set the different size and pen weights and all. OK, that works. The problem is when I go back into the original plotter drawing, I have to reset all my settings. Even from plot to plot in the same drawing. It doesn't seem to hold the settings from one device to the other. When I try and save the PC2 or Partial PCP file under Configuration File in the plot tool, I don't know where to save it to. Wouldn't that save the settings? Using R14, an old version. Plotter is HP T790.
