My friend told me that in Autodesk Edition 2013, we can save files that are worked in Max as Maya and vice-versa. Since I find it easy to Model in Maya and texturing in Max easy, i got both Maya and Max 2013. I found how to save Max files to Maya. but I can't find maya's "Send To".
View 5 RepliesI have down loaded the program (Maya 2012 Student Version ) but most of the time when I click on some icons, I got the message as follows: " The file being saved was created by a Student Version of Maya intended for personal learning only. If you save the file, this message will always appear whenever the file is opened.”since I am not saving the files, I am just clicking some icons, I don't know why I got this message. It makes me so inconvenient to use this program because I got this Pop up screen almost every 10 seconds though.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a student version of Maya 2012 on my home computer so I didn’t have to work from college for a project, but I have run into some issues.
Not sure what is going on with my Maya but it won't open files unless I actually go to it in the browser and double click on the file. Even once I have done that I can only save over it, save as doesn't work. I also can't create or set projects. There are probably more problems but these are the ones I noticed/really need.
This is what appears in my output window:

I'm running Photoshop CC 14.1.2 on Mac (OSX 10.8.5) and whenever I use "Save As…" Photoshop marks the original file as edited and asks me to save it again before I close it - even if I have not made any changes before or after using "Save as…". I have just recently installed AutoCAD LT 2014 on Windows 7 (Running on an intel iMac through Bootcamp). Ever since then i am receiving notifications when performing a save.
AutoCAD is telling me it cannot perform the save and is creating a .tmp file in the same location on the server as the file should be.
this is causing major performance issues and happens almost every second time I attempt to perform a save. The issue is that we are getting multiple versions of the same file duplicating on the file server which is very quickly going to cause capacity issues considering most files are 2-4mb in size.
Autodesk making a student version of Maya available, it's really a wonderful tool for learning the software, however...
Is there any way to turn off the 'this is a student version' notification that pops up <b><i>every single time you save/autosave the file?</i></b>
i have 3dsImport.mll installed and active in the plug-in manager, but 3ds files are not importing. a transform node shows in the outliner, but there isnt actually any data/geometry to see or select or scale etc etc. i am working with Maya 2100 x64 MAC.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi want to export my maya files to STL for rapid prototyping. I googled and found out that only plugins can export to STL format, i found out that a tool called multitool can it, i installed it, but how to make it work.
I tried going to File> export i saw a file format called STL_DCE, i'm not sure if this is the correct format of STL that i need.
i want to ask what can i use to export to STL so that i can send the model for rapid prototyping. And if there any requirement for the model for it to be sent to be rapid prototyped( like does it need to have any criteria )
I'd like to test exporting .STL files, however none of the DirectConnect translators seem to appear as option during File->Export Selection.
Plug-in Manager confirms that the DirectConnect.bundle version 6.0 is loaded.
I have been having a persistent problem with a project I am working on. The project is a 3d animation, the objects in which were made in Maya 2011. When I started animating things in 2012 it was all working fine, but then one day it stopped saving my edits on some files.
On these uneditable files the objects cannot be deleted, saying they are parented. If I move something, save, then reopen the object will be in its original position.
New files, all done the same way with 2012 on the same computers are editing fine, but I still need to adjust some things in these old ones. Is there a way I can unlock these scenes so I can edit them? It would be lovely if I didn't have to do those frames all over again.
When I save, no error messages come up. However loading the files gives the log quite a bit to say.

I was able to import .stp files in Maya 2010, but I just get an error message now in 2012. I must be doing something wrong but can't seem to figure out what the problem is. I looked for a plugin with no luck.

When I try to install it on Maya 2011, a message appears saying OpenCollada didn't detect versions of Maya 2009. However, I have seen it is possible to get the plugin working on Maya 2011.
I am now stuck with only source files, but it is unclear as how to use these source files to get the plugin to work? There is no installer anywhere and the instructions are very vague.
I am working back in forth between school, and my home student version of Maya. I just downloaded Maya 2012, and I can not open a file in 2011 that was created in 2012?? I already opened the option box under OPEN, and selected ignore version. And it still doesn't work. I never had this problem last semester with 2011 files, working with 2010 Maya.

I was able to import the obj file directly into 3DS Max 2013, but could not import it into Maya 2013 and 2014, because both versions cited incorrect data. Is this a bug or user error? Obvious workaround is to use Max to re-export, but would prefer to have it work directly in Maya.
