We used references to run our project. And in these days, some files crashed when we saving it. Some file turned to be a 0Kb file. Some file dissapeared. And some file lost animation when we open it again. Is it the problem about our LAN evironment, hardware, software or anything else?
View 3 RepliesI have been having a persistent problem with a project I am working on. The project is a 3d animation, the objects in which were made in Maya 2011. When I started animating things in 2012 it was all working fine, but then one day it stopped saving my edits on some files.
On these uneditable files the objects cannot be deleted, saying they are parented. If I move something, save, then reopen the object will be in its original position.
New files, all done the same way with 2012 on the same computers are editing fine, but I still need to adjust some things in these old ones. Is there a way I can unlock these scenes so I can edit them? It would be lovely if I didn't have to do those frames all over again.
When I save, no error messages come up. However loading the files gives the log quite a bit to say.

AutoCAD LT 2012
I had my automatic save set up for every 10 minutes but files were not being saved regularly. I deleted files from the Temp folder thinking it was full and now there are no .sv$ saving at all. How can I make drawings save automatically every 10 minutes?
i have maya 2012 student down load. i have a fresh install of windown7 64 bit and all the latest downloads and drivers.i am running a intell 2 quad core @2.4 ghz with 8 gigs of ram. my paging file on my main harddrive is at 15085 to 30000 mb. i open the maya 12 program and it runs fine for a while up to an hour or more then it starts slowing down tell it locks up and shuts off and some times it would not have saved my lase save. i set the auto saves to every 5 min and went to work again it seems to be working fine for a bout 30 min or so and it is asking me to auto save and i do tell it crashes again i look to reopen the save file and find it did not save any fo my auto saves. i have been battling this problen eversence i downloaded it, i even download the auto desk hot fix and installed it. the computers at my school seem to handle it fine and thay have less ram to work with .is there a paging file or memory setting for maya to increased the proforamce or any other trick that might stop me from melting my computer down for srap >8( moooo!
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe're having issues saving and importing skin weights, and mirroring these weights on our character meshes because our characters have some geometry that has been combined into their mesh (like eyebrows, fake spikey hair, eyelashes, etc)
Maya seems to take the UV's for all the combined meshes and stack layer them into the 0-1 space in the UV editor. When we save skin weights for the main mesh, the weighting maps are all messed up and useless for importing because they are based on UV's that are supposed to be clean and dedicated only to the main mesh.
how to save weights and mirror weights for meshes like ours?
I am using maya 2012 32bit on windows.
I've painstakingly oriented all the joints in my human ik skeleton and then saved the file out as a backup. When I reload the file and go to component mode to view the joint orientations they are all messed up again. I've gone through this process twice with the same results.
Deleting files and saving files brings up an error message. Files can't be deleted from lightroom which makes editing a nightmare. Also Saving Files (raw of jpeg), brings up an error message everytime.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi want to export my maya files to STL for rapid prototyping. I googled and found out that only plugins can export to STL format, i found out that a tool called multitool can it, i installed it, but how to make it work.
I tried going to File> export i saw a file format called STL_DCE, i'm not sure if this is the correct format of STL that i need.
i want to ask what can i use to export to STL so that i can send the model for rapid prototyping. And if there any requirement for the model for it to be sent to be rapid prototyped( like does it need to have any criteria )
I'd like to test exporting .STL files, however none of the DirectConnect translators seem to appear as option during File->Export Selection.
Plug-in Manager confirms that the DirectConnect.bundle version 6.0 is loaded.
I was able to import .stp files in Maya 2010, but I just get an error message now in 2012. I must be doing something wrong but can't seem to figure out what the problem is. I looked for a plugin with no luck.

I created 4 layers.The problem is that after saving it as a PSD file and during the save process the layers box is checked, it wont open with all layers. View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed CS6 on a new computer, i7 and plenty of everything. Also has windows 8, yuck. On my previous computer running a different ps but the same Lr version, I had no issues. But saving images is a nightmare. I shoot in raw, so my files are large. From within Lr, to bring a photo in tiff format over to ps, edit, save, it will take minutes PER photo. Yet bringing the same raw image into ps via bridge, it saves fine...still a bit slow, but not even close to the lag. Same issue whether it is psd or tiff.
There is no software on my computer other than cs6 and lr4.2, no antivirus, nothing except the other garbage that comes with win 8. I think that because I can't find anything on this issue, it must be due to win 8 as the OS and it is causing a disconnect between Lr and ps.

When i go to save as and try saving it as GIF, I get a new window saying "Indexed color" and the image's colors go a little crazy...

If not, has Autodesk updated direct connect as a maya/autocad plug in so we can use dwgs between the two programs? I can't get support to answer this, they keep saying "we monitor the forums, ask there." So, here goes! Autodesk ought to take a lesson from zbrush, who imports/exports with one button now!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to import collada files/animations into Maya which require the colladamaya plugin. This plugin appears to be very old, as the Feeling Software site it used to be hosted on has now changed to another company.
When I try to install it on Maya 2011, a message appears saying OpenCollada didn't detect versions of Maya 2009. However, I have seen it is possible to get the plugin working on Maya 2011.
I am now stuck with only source files, but it is unclear as how to use these source files to get the plugin to work? There is no installer anywhere and the instructions are very vague.
I have down loaded the program (Maya 2012 Student Version ) but most of the time when I click on some icons, I got the message as follows: " The file being saved was created by a Student Version of Maya intended for personal learning only. If you save the file, this message will always appear whenever the file is opened.”since I am not saving the files, I am just clicking some icons, I don't know why I got this message. It makes me so inconvenient to use this program because I got this Pop up screen almost every 10 seconds though.

I already opened the option box under OPEN, and selected ignore version. And it still doesn't work. I never had this problem last semester with 2011 files, working with 2010 Maya.
