Lightroom :: Getting Correct Color On Monitor?

Feb 20, 2012

Any resource(s) for correctly setting the color on my monitor so that it's synched with Lightroom? I have an 11x17 inch Dell monitor; don't see a model name.

I'm not sure if Adobe publishes anything or if I should check Dell's site.

Lightroom :: Color Shift With Second Monitor Using Develop Module

LR 4.1 RC2, OSX 10.6.8 - when I'm trying to use the develop module with my second monitor, the image initially looks accurate. After a second or two and before any edits have been applied, the images desaturate and look very flat. Images viewed with the second monitor in Library module look great.

Lightroom :: What Color Space To Choose For Viewing JPEGs On Monitor

Nov 2, 2012

After reading many webpages and watching many tutorial videos about which color space to use, I get odd results.  I understand that sRGB is more for web applications, and that Adobe RGB 1998 has a wider gamut, and that ProPhoto has the widest gamut of colors, particularly useful with printing.

However, in LR 4, when I export to jpeg as sRGB, Adobe RGB, and ProPhoto, the differences are very noticeable.  sRGB looks the most vibrant, Adobe RGB looks flat, and ProPhoto looks dark with a greenish cast.  I expected ProPhoto to look best, or is that only for printing, and I have to process differently?

Photoshop :: Dual Monitor Background

Jul 6, 2007

I have dual monitors set up. I found some wallpapers online for dual monitors so I tested one. But for some reason it shows up twice for each monitor, instead of streching the large horizontal photo across both. I wanted to make my own using the dimensions of the ones online, but does anyone know how to make it work correctly?

Lightroom :: Change Background Color Of Filmstrip?

Sep 21, 2012

I've been working with a copy of lightroom 3.6 on a windows 7 machine.  The problem I'm having is that I have a really hard time telling at a glance which images have the blue color label from the unlabeled grey ones.  Is there any way for me to change either the background color of the filmstrip (like you can the background of the main workspace) or else change the hue/tone/saturation/whatever of the blue color label itself?

I know how to change the name of the label, but that doesn't visually differentiate between the two colors.  The monitor is color calibrated, and I have the same difficulty on various monitors, so this is a physical limitation of my own, or a limitation of the program.

Lightroom :: 5 - Can PNG Background Color Of White Be Changed

Feb 25, 2014

I recently decided to use LR to catalog all my images (instead of Bridge). I love that PNG is now supported. Ran into one problem...all the snowflake and white frame images are viewed as a white rectangle due to the background white. I know Preview and other "viewers" don't have this issue. ACDSee has a setting to change the background. Can I do this in LR5?  If not, is there a link where I can submit for a product enhancement to the Product Management team for a future release of LR?

Lightroom :: Changing Background And Font Color On Thumbnails?

Jul 30, 2012

Is there a way in LR4.1 for me to change the background color where the top text is displayed on thumbnails in the library?  Currently, mine appears to be light (or medium-ish) gray, with the first line in black and the second line in a gray that's very hard to read against the slightly lighter gray background.

I"d like to either make the second line text black (like the first line) and/or the background lighter so it's easier to read both lines.

Photoshop :: Color Shift From One Monitor To The Next (CS5)

Aug 24, 2012

I'm having a strong color shift in Photoshop going from one monitor to another. It's not a calibration issue because the color shift persists when I drag the window from one to another until I do something with the window, then it will shift (i.e. not exactly when I move the window). I'm essentially experiencing the problem described here, only I'm on Photoshop CS5 and his solution doesn't apply because that option is not available.

Windows 7 64bit
Photoshop CS 5 (12.1 x64)

Note the color change, one part of that image is on one monitor, and the other part on the other. (The left is the correct color fwiw.)

I'm guessing there's just some setting somewhere I can toggle?

Photoshop :: CS5 Mac Dual Monitor Color

Sep 12, 2012

Gear: MacBook Pro, Photoshop CS5, Wacom Cintiq 12WX as second display, Mac OS X 10.7.4

Problem: Photoshop seems to only use the Monitor Profile of the main display (i.e. the one with the menu bar in System Preferences>Displays>Arrangement) - some people say yes, this is the case, some people say no, Photoshop uses independent profiles for each display.

Manifestation: If I set my MacBook screen to the main display, color looks good in Photoshop on the MacBook and terrible on the Wacom and vice-versa. However, in Lightroom and other applications changing the main display makes no difference to the output on each display.

Preferred solution: I would like to have my MacBook as my main display with menu bars and dock etc, but then I want the Cintiq to be the display I use in Photoshop, for obvious reasons. In my workflow, I would like to have my image open in 2 windows, one on the Cintiq for retouching and one on the MacBook to check progress and color etc

Curveball: I have a trial of CS6 and the problem seems to be fixed.

Photoshop :: Monitor Vs. Printed Color

When a piece is going to be printed in a magazine or even output to a desktop printer I have found that the color on the monitor (yes it is calibrated) bears very little relation to the printed product. Just curious as to what you guys do to compensate. Do you work brighter and more colorfully on the screen knowing that things are going to darker up in the translation?

Photoshop :: Color Settings :: Monitor

Feb 18, 2006

When ever I save any of my works as a picture (png, jpg, gif, etc.) it always seems to save darker than what I see on screen. To get it to save right I have to work in my "monitor color" (name of the setting) then assign profile (edit-->assign profile) of sRGB IEC61966-2.1 to brighten it then save it and,

it saves it like I want. Is there a way I can fix this so that it will save as my monitor color without having to go through all that?

Photoshop :: Color Settings For Wide Gamut Monitor

Apr 7, 2012

I have a wide gamut monitor (HP LP2475w) which has already been calibrated. My question isn't so much about that, but the settings I should be using inside of Photoshop (CS5). As far as color settings (ctrl+shift+k) goes, what am I supposed to use? I have sRGB as the rgb working space right now. (never use CMYK), Gray % Spot = dot gain 20%, and preserve profiles are ticked on for all 3. Am I supposed to be using Adobe RGB in RGB working space to get the most out of my monitor? I'm asking because it would be embarrassing if I had a wide gamut monitor and am working within a sRGB color cap. What are the proper photoshop color settings, so that it works well across the board (browser compatibility, etc)

I am a professional digital artist who specialize in illustrations for print campaigns. So far from what I've seen, whatever's been printed out of what I produce from this monitor has come out pretty much looking the same, so I'm not worried about that. Again, I just want to make sure I'm not careless and am using settings which doesn't make use of a wide gamut monitor.

Paint Shop Pro :: Monitor / Printer Color Management

Nov 23, 2012

6 months ago I purchased a new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium. I reinstalled Paint Shop Pro X4 but have not used it much since then. Recently I wanted to print some photos and I was very disappointed that the results were VERY red. I have a Canon MP600 printer that I have used for several years with very good results. With my old computer (on Win XP) the difference between the monitor and printer was minimal. I am not familiar with the technical jargon relating to color management and relied on the operating system to do a satisfactory job. I only use PSP as a hobby and am not as picky as most photographers but this was very disappointing. I also tried printing some graphics as might be used in a brochure and the colors were too red. I cleaned the print heads as per the Canon instructions and all 5 ink cartridges are full. I might also mention that grayscale images print looking similar to sepia although they are grayscale on the monitor.

don't get too technical as I don't really understand this whole "color management" thing.
