Jan 22, 2014Within Lightroom 5, I set up a print template for a new Canon ix6550 printer and used it for some months. I happily printed around 40 images.
I sold a few prints, and needed to print identical copies. Up until a few weeks ago, all worked fine.
Then, a few weeks ago, I tried to re-print 2 copies of a single image. The first copy printed OK (it looked like the original), I pressed the 'Print' button once more and the second print came out 'trashed' with extreme increases in saturation and contrast plus a decreased exposure.
I tried altering all sorts of things and printing test strips, but could not get a viable print.
I did not save any changes to the template or to the development settings of the images.
A few days later, I tried again. Without changing anything, the first test strip looked OK, so I went on to successfully print two A4 prints, then the third and all subsequent attempts to print resulted in trashed prints as described above.
Since then, I have determined that if I allow the printer to manage the colours, the test strips look fine. I don't know if I would see a difference on the full sized prints.
So I thought maybe the profile is corrupt? So I downloaded the drivers again from Canon and re-installed - no difference.(Although I do not know enough to locate and delete the originals first.)Should I let the printer manage colours? Will it matter?
Lightroom :: How Make A Preset Or Set Up Printer With Correct ICC Profile
Apr 8, 2014Using Lightrooms printmodule with this printer is a big problem for me. Using Cannon Print studio Works, but then you loose a lot of great functionallity in LR print module.
It seems that when I make a preset or set up printer with correct ICC profile the canon printer driver automatically resets to its own default.
It looks like a print driver in the background resets everything i do. Very confusing and Canon support points to adobe.
My setup:
Macpro with OSX 10.9.2 (latest version)
Lightroom 5.3 (creative cloud member, always latest version)
Canon Pixma pro-100 (bought new april 2014)
I have looked several places on internett and it looks that there are a lot people having similar problems.
Lightroom :: Softproofing - Color Profile Appropriate To Printer / Ink / Paper
Apr 30, 2012softproofing. I apply a color profile appropriate to my printer/ink/paper, and then I can see what colours are in/out of gamut, and won't print as I expect. But, when I click Soft Proofing, the image takes on a less saturated look, however if I select SRGB as a profile it looks normal. That is I believe because sRGB is the profile I have been using anyway. What I don't understand is why the whole image changes. I assume there is more to it than just colours in and out of Gamut.
I do so LR4 asks if I want a proof copy, which is fine and I understand why. When I make a proof copy though, all the adjustments are greyed out so I cannot do anything.

Jul 9, 2013I get a slight difference in color in my prints my when I use LR prifile vs Canon printer managed. The Canon is much truer to what I see on both monitors which, btw, are calibrated. LR throws in a slight magenta cast. Is there a way to correct this?

I found Uncoated Fogra29 the best profile to use with my Epson Inkjet Printer. (better than the default Epson Profile)

Mar 27, 2014In Development module in LR4.4, viewing a Fuji X100s raw file (converted on import to DNG) I tick the box for "Enable Profile Corrections" under "Lens Corrections," and select "Auto" from the "Setup" menu. I would have thought that LR would pick up the X100s profile, but no, nothing happens. If I choose "Fujifilm" from the "Make" dropdown, I can find the X100 (not X100s) profile manually. The profile's probably pretty similar, but still, I'm wondering why my install of 4.4 doesn't have the X100s profile in place?
While I'm at it, I'll ask this too -- I recently bought the new Nikkor 35mm 1.8G ED (the new full frame 35mm Nikon lens, not the trusty 35mm 1.8DX) and there's no profile for that lens in my LR4.4 either.
Finally, I note that when I choose "Check for Updates" from the "Help" menu in LR, I'm told there are no updates available.

Aug 11, 2012Downloaded the BLURB color profile and installed to the system. Restarted LR and it did not appear in the other list for color profiles. I checked and found the profile in c:/Windows/System32/spool/drivers/color. I tried coping the file to c:/ProgramFile(x86)/CommonFiles/Adobe/Color/Profiles/Recommended. Restarted LR and still no BRURB icc shows up in the list. I also noticed there were other profiles in these directories which do not show up in the list. What am I doing wrong? Is there another menu which controls the "other..." list?

Jul 22, 2013I have a Nikon D7100 with two memory cards. I'm trying to upload the images to Lightroom 5. For some reason, Lightroom has uploaded only about 170 images from the second disk. It doesn't seem to know that there are more images on that disk which have not been uploaded. And it doesn't seem to know that there are more than 700 images on the first disk, none of which has been uploaded. What should I do?

Lightroom :: Cannot Upload A Book To Blurb
Dec 1, 2013I'm still having troubles in uploading the books in Lightroom; I use LR 5.2 with Windows 8 64 bit and even if I turn off the firewall and antivirus, it keeps me saying that there is an error in uploading.
I tried also to remove the background and graphic, but with no luck. I would really like to use this feature, but up to now is not workable. PS: I can save it as *.pdf.

Apr 23, 2013We are getting loads of RAW files together with xmp files from our photographers and then do a central post production on them. Our photographers are requested to add certain information into the metadata fields by using lightroom.So they add (by using a template or by doing it manually) certain information for each image - e.g. ratings.
Then they upload all the images together with the xmp files - we do get 2 files per image.If we download e.g. an raw image together with that xmp file and store on our disk and then start LR4.4 to do some further work, the metadata fields are not set. (if we use however a text editor) to look into the xmp file then the requested information is there.
If we now simply download the provided xmp again, LR detects a change in the metadata fields and reminds us on that. By clicking on "read metadata from file", we can then see the correct metadata information.So it looks by just downloading a pair of files (raw and xmp) and then import into lightroom , the xmp file is either NOT read at all or only partly. (i believe the first)
Any way to force LR to read in and apply the metadata from an existing xmp on import ?
some more information:
- LR5 Beta behaves the same way
- some photographers add owner/copyright information into the camera (e.g. by using eosutility in the canon case) - this is stored in the raw (cr2 for canon) file and lightroom does show this information correctly
- i only need to open the xmp file in an editor and save - then LR detects changed/updated metadata information and displays the little arrow which then allows to read/import the metadata information from the file - and then all is fine and the information from the xml file is shown in LR.
Here is the workflow:
- photographer imports images into their local lightroom and do some modifications - mainly add metadata information
- photographers provide the cr2(nef) files together with the xmp files to us (upload)
- we download and import the files into LR and rework them and finally export to jpeg including metadata - !!! if LR does not correctly use the provided metadata information from the xml file during import then we end up with jpegs including incorrect/missing metadata
- we publish the jpegs to sell them and the websoftware does provide certain features or not, depending on the metadata (which is wrong in these cases)
- we only recognize the problen then and have a lot of work to recreate correct jpegs with correct metadata files
Lightroom :: Upload Book To Blurb?
Mar 20, 2014I have a 150 page book I am trying to upload from Lightroom to Blurb. It does contain quite a lot of photos (900-ish) and I have tried using a cable as well but to no awail. I am able to download a pdf version.
The process works like this: It starts "rendering" photos which works well. Then it starts "uploading photos" and after a while a pop-up message appears saying that problems have occured and do I want to retry uploading.
I have tried keeping the computer from going to sleep but with the same result.
