Oct 29, 2012So if I am dialing in some contrast or grain with the slider, how do I toggle that slider on/off so I can compare easily, without having to slide it back in forth.

View 3 RepliesI shoot in RAW+JPEG so that I can recover from disasters, also I'm fairly new to digital photography so want to give myself as many options as possible. Lightroom works perfectly and imports both the JPG and RAW files from my 5Dmk2, it displays first the JPG, and then loads in the RAW file. This has the effect of showing a quick fullscreen view with one exposure settings, and (normally) once the RAW loads in, everything darkens as the RAW appears.
Sometimes however, the JPG's have perfect color balance and I'd rather work with them than spend 15 minutes screwing with the color - is there a way to toggle between the RAW vs. JPG in each pictureset?
I know there is an option to treat RAW+JPG pairs as a single file, but a quick way to switch between them would be very handy. Does this exist?
According to the online video tutorials for LR5, pressing [CTRL] + [ALT] + O when using the Upright tools in the Lens Correction pane of the Develop tools will toggle the Grid Overlay on and off. When the grid is displayed, the tutorials also show there to be an options toolbar top/center that has sizing and transparency controls to customize its appearance. This key combination does not seem to work for me in LR5.3. Has it been changed, removed, known bug, (LR 5.3, Win 7, 32-bit)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble finding the location I need to prevent LR 5 from moving around my grid screen after using the paint brush tool or any tool to change it's rating. I would like to focus on tagging/organizing my rated files as my priorty but without my screen shifting to the image that's changed... if it would just dissaper to the proper loaction I would be much happier than having to scroll back down to where I left off.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince downloaded an upgrade trial of LR5.2 (from LR4.3, I believe), the backslash key () is no longer showing me the 'before edits' version of my image. The word "Before" does appear in the top right hand corner, but no changes appear along with this. I am using an english version of LR, with an english keyboard. The shortcut used to work for me in LR4.3! And I used it all the time for toggling back and forth while editing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm taking a photography class and we're getting a quick lesson in using Lightroom, working on Macs. I'm never used the program before and I use a PC so I'm not familiar with Mac either.
I'm catching on pretty quick, but Im wondering, is there a way to use keystrokes or shortcuts to toggle between the menu items at the top of the screen. The assistants in the class said that on a Mac you can access these menu items with the mouse, but in a PC you use the Alt + a letter and can get to the sub-items with either letters or the arrow keys.
I am trying to adjust two D800 files simultaniously. Thus I select both images, toggle the Sync button to the Auto Sync state.
But, the adjustments done to the most selected image do not copy over to the other image, while this is the expected behaviour.

I'm attempting to import a sequence of JPEG files as a composition into After Effects. The files were exported from Lightoom (Import/File). I select the first file in sequence and select JPEG Sequence but the Import as Footage is greyed out. Only the first file is imported. I'm attempting a timelapse from files taken with GoPro Hero3.

GIMP example.docx (Size: 141.1 KB / Downloads: 31) I just found about GIMP several days ago. I really like the features that are offered and cant wait to dive in and play around with it. However, I am getting a bit discouraged because it is not working on my computer the way it does when I visited some u-tube videos. So far I have a problem with the layers. I selected, new, added two layers, therefore I had three layers to work with. When I would toggle between the layers the picture didn't change at all, the screen only allowed me to view the last picture I imported. So, I thought I would hide the third picture and work with the second to see what would happen. I scaled the second picture and it scaled them all (note: the pictures where not linked). I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and it still did the same thing. I am working with Windows 7 if that makes any difference?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently took some Milky Way photos and was attempting to process them in Lightroom. Many of the effects I am using are hardly doing anything. I'll use clarity for an example.
I typically use the adjustment brush to add effects like clarity soley to the Milky Way. I find a setting of 40-60 is usually sufficient. Sliding the scale from -100 to 100 is DRAMATIC, making the Milky Way overly "pop" in a disgusting, artificial manner.
However, on my most recent batch when I applied a clarity of 50 I could hardly tell. Sliding the slider from -100 to 100 had a very small difference. Other effects are behaving similarly.
When I go back to my older photos the brushes seem to work. However, any of these new photos (which have various exposures settings) all behave similary in that I just can't get the effects to do much. The originals of my older photos and my new photos look comparable.
from last two days, i am unable to see the effects after exporting the picture.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI really don't remember this happening in Lr 3.5, but it is in Lr 4.1-3 and only effects Sepia toned images I edit for the most part. Just finished about 200 images from an event where I will put them on a DVD to music for purchase. They all looked fine when I finished with them. I exported them as JPEGs, long side 1024, quality 74. The rest of the long story short, iMovie made them look awful, opted for iDVD. First time viewing them all was good, but after multiple viewings after rearranging/adding/deleting images from the project, they look like crap. For some very strange reason, many took on a pinkish/reddish coloration and often will introduce artifacts that simply weren't there in Lr. I viewed my edited images on 2 other Mac's and the issue remains, so not my computer.
I have an 27" iMac, OS 10.6.8 (completed up-to-date), 3.3GHz duo core, 12GB RAM, 960GB of free space on a 1TB HDD. Under warranty the display and recalled hard drive have been replaced, so my Lr 4.3 is completely fresh; not from a backup. With the new HDD recent, I haven't calibrated my computer as of yet. My images are on a WD 3TB with 1.25TB of free space (a tad on the low side but shouldn't effect anything). My camera is a Sony A33 and I shoot strictly in RAW set for sRGB; using ProPhoto in Lr and for sometime now only in Manual.
I have not recently been saving my metadata to file. I decide to turn this option on in preferances and it took a while for it all data to be written to the files. Most of my files start in Lightroom and get worked on with Photoshop layers, saved as TIFF, and reimported into Lightroom from other folders. My question is, if I went back to Lightroom and made some changes to develop settings to see what it would look like with different settings in Lightroom, didn't use the settings in the previously exported file but left them there in Lightroom since the file had already been exported and saved as TIFF..... can now saving the metadata to file change the way the finished file looks since the settings are different than those originally used to process the file (of note, I do not have save develop metadata to file for TIFF, PSD tyurned on).

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe Auto Select Layer/Group feature of the move tool can be really handy when you have a ton of layers. But it also drives me crazy when I forget to turn it off!
Is there a hotkey to toggle it off and on? Ideally, I'd like to press-and-hold to turn Auto Select on, but once the key is released, it would turn off.
Is there a way to toggle snapping to a layer or xref?
When using object snap and you are drawing with a busy survey xref in the background, the mouse cursor really hunts around a lot on the contour lines and stuff instead of on what I am drawing. But, I would like to see the contour lines as I go, rather than hide the layer.
Supposedly, the letter "O" will toggle between Sponge, Dodge, & Burn tools.

View 28 Replies View RelatedI've been running into a frustrating limitation with certain keyboard shotcuts for Nitrous display modes. For example, if I try to use my old 2011 shortcut for "Viewport Box Mode Toggle", the bounding box displays on TOP of the current shaded/wire mode instead of toggling. If I change the assignment to the new Nitrous command "Viewport Visual Style Bounding Box", it is no longer a TOGGLE key and to go back I must then use the key assigned to "Viewport Visual Style Wireframes/Shaded" (or classic "Wireframe/Smooth+Highlights Toggle")...
BUT...
In Nitrous both of these wire/shaded toggle commands do not work properly if you are changing from another display type (such as box). Instead of toggling between wire/shaded, they toggle between wire and the last display mode. So in essence there is no way to toggle between Box and Shaded without r-clicking on the viewport label every time you want to return to shaded mode as far as I can tell. Not being able to quickly toggle Box mode really screws up my work flow, so for now I'm reverting back to DirectX.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen in vertex, edge or poly mode, usually I was able to switch between them by pressing number 1,2,3,4,5. What also was useful, is if for instance I press the same number twice, then I would exit the sub mode. This was very useful. Now in this version this option is disabled by default, similar to the zoom extense all, but I was able to changed this in the UI settings.
