Photoshop :: Batch Rename In CS2 Bridge
Mar 25, 2006I am having a problem using the batch rename in Photoshop CS2. I am selecting files in Bridge, using copy to other folder, and using sequence number and file extention. I am trying to change .jpegs to .tiffs . The transfer seems to work, the files show up in the new foder but I get an error message in Photoshop saying the files are invalid when I try to open them. I tried converting to .psd but the same result-the files are there but invalid.

I just imported 278 photos and they are all correctly renamed within Lightroom however the source files retained the original Canon generated names. I want to rename them for backup/in case I ever decide to stop using Lightroom/etc.

Aug 8, 2013Can I rename my Macintosh HD Hard Drive? I had a recent problem with After Effects not loading. It's a brand new iMac and had a clean install of Adobe Production Premium CS6. I do have a few plugins installed that I purchased from Video Co-Pilot and Mocha AE. But I can't imagine those plug-ins were the culprit. However, I did rename my Hard Drive prior to the not-loading problem.
Could renaming my Macintosh HD have had an effect on that?

Dec 12, 2012After my trial version of LR4 expired I have had a few problems with LR3.The problem now is that it seems the Collections I created while using LR4 trial version are not listed in the LR3 collection panel. As of yet I'm not sure that those are the only collections that are missing. I do have LR backed up (every time I shut down LR) but I don't know how to go about importing the collections or where to find them. I don't see "Collections" in the backup folder.

Jun 12, 2012I recently updated from LR3 to LR4. About halfway through my edit, LR crashed. Upon trying to open up the catalog that I was currently working on, it says that the file is corrupted and prompts me to a dialog box that asks to repair catalog, quit, etc.
I attempted to click to repair the catalog, however another error dialog box pops up saying that it cannot temporarily repair the file.
I've tried everything I could possibly think of, restarted the computer. Copied the raw files and catalog and tried to open it that way -- with no luck. I was editing away and then boom.. no longer have access.

Jan 2, 2014Two days ago, in attempt to clean up my computer, I transferred all of my files to an external hard drive, including my LR files with a document ending in, ".ircat".
When I tried to open LR yesterday, none of my files appeared. I put the file back on my computer (from the external hard drive). I reopened LR and only a few of my files are showing (my most recent import and some random files). However, the majority of my almost 5,000 files are gone. I can see the names of certain galleries, the color labels, and I can even see if I've edited the photo or sent it to quick collection. However, I cannot see the photo itself. There are question marks next to folders that are completely empty. Is there a way to get my files back or did I damage them in the transfer?

Apr 11, 2012While managing my folder structure I inadvertently hit the button of the parent folder on my Folder Navigator box. As a result ALL of the time dated folders were deleted in the navigator tool. the Catalog file is still solid and the original source photos on my hard drive are in tact. No lost source data other than I no longer have a date structure for the folders to navigate.When I try to retrieve the folders and their accompanying structure by just clicking the button it doesn't allow me to retrieve, or reestablish, the links to the hard drive folder source files. I assume it is because they already are imported in my catalog so there is nothing to import?

I was importing my images to my catalog when the power was switched off. This caused an error in LR3.
And now I can't open the catalog anymore. I already created a new one and tried to import the damaged catalog into it but this didn't worked.
My images are still ok. All I want to recover are my tags and my collections as I had spent quick some into it.

Jan 17, 2013Our vacation pictures were on IPAD2. I accessed them and thought I was uploading them when I imported them to Lightroom3. I made panoramas and all in photoshop too. My husband asked if the images had been uploaded and I said yes. So he did synched and the update on the IPAD effectively erasing all those images. Now I find that these awesome images were not synched or imported to the computer, but just to lightroom thumbnails. Heartbroken! I can still see the thumbnails in Lightroom... My card has been formated twice since then. I don't think I can recover them there. Is it possible that there is a program that can recover those images to .jpgs from the thumbnails?

Background.I had a kern_protection_error, that required a complete reinstall of the MAC operating system.
All applications and the operating system was/are on a boot drive on a MAC Pro.
All images are on a master hard drives (configured as RAID).
All images and the boot drive are backed up on backup hard drives (configured as RAID).
All drives are periodically backed up using carbon copy cloner to drives kept offsight. This was done the day before the system reinstall.
Unfortunately, LR was not additionally backed up using the backup feature in LR4.
All of my lightroom edits are now gone, as well as my collections. Is there a way to restore the the edits and collections from the Time Machine backup?
I have gone to my LR 4 lrcat ("open existing catalog" from drop down menu) but have not actually relinked the images from the master hard drive, until I understand my path forward.

Oct 20, 2012I used Dup Finder (plugin) to find duplicate pictures in my LR catalog. I then erased them through Lightroom. what I didn't realize is that Dup Finder puts both the otiginal file and the duplicate in a smart collection. I errased everything from that folder, so now I have missing photos and I don't know all the file names. Is there any way to recover these photos or at the very least find a history of changed to a catalog or collection (I have online backups of my photos, so if I know the file name, I can get them).

May 31, 2013I am trying to do a rename of several files at once, but I would like it to use a Custom Name WITHOUT a sequence on the first file. I should be able to select several files and the first file will get the custom name, the second file will get -2, then -3, and so on. If I select 30 files, the first file gets the custom name correctly, then the second file get -31, then -32, and so on. It is counting the number of files I have selected, and then renaming them based on that count!!
The way I have to do it now is to select the first file, do custom name, then select the rest of the files and do sequence.
