Sep 7, 2013I was working on a photoshop project and then saved it as a JPEG, but accidentally closed it out without saving it as a project (.psd)... how do I recover the file?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had started a new drawing on our template and worked on it for an hour or so. I had not saved it or anything so it was simply titled "Drawing2.dwg." Well, during a simple text command AutoCAD decided to crash. It said it could try to recover the drawing, but when I looked around for it I couldn't find it anywhere.
I've had this happen before...is there ANYTHING that can be done or did I just lose all my work?
Two days ago, in attempt to clean up my computer, I transferred all of my files to an external hard drive, including my LR files with a document ending in, ".ircat".
When I tried to open LR yesterday, none of my files appeared. I put the file back on my computer (from the external hard drive). I reopened LR and only a few of my files are showing (my most recent import and some random files). However, the majority of my almost 5,000 files are gone. I can see the names of certain galleries, the color labels, and I can even see if I've edited the photo or sent it to quick collection. However, I cannot see the photo itself. There are question marks next to folders that are completely empty. Is there a way to get my files back or did I damage them in the transfer?
Details:
OS X 10.5.8Photoshop CS4
After completing a many-hours-long automated process (Contact Sheet II), Photoshop decided to error out on me as soon as it finished. It has a pop up that says:
"Could not complete your request because of a program error."
It appears that I will need to force-close the application. What's frustrating is that the 102 files it generated are sitting right behind that error, but I can't get it to go away--it just pops back up when I click OK. I really don't want to lock up this computer for another day when the files are right there!
If I could only find the temporary files on my computer I'd quarantine and recover them on my own. I am a little surprised that no one seems to have asked this on Google (or maybe I just can't find it).
Where does Photoshop put its open, unsaved files?
My external hard drive accidentally fell from my desktop and now I have lost all my raw file. My Lightroom 2 still has the .dng files, can I recover my .dng files without the original raw files?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI deleted hundreds of photos in lightroom, and I think they also got deleted from the folders that I exported them too because they are now missing.
When I deleted them they went into my trash, and then I went on and emptied my trash.
I don't have their thumbnails or anything, is there any way I can get these back?!
I have Lightroom 3.6 and have lost some files in LIghtroom and on my harddrive. I can still see the images in Lightroom. I have tried to pull up my previous back ups but still can not access the files. Is there anyway to recover the images from LIghtroom?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm very unfamiliar with any but the most basic stuff in Library and Develop. I've attempted to create a slide show, decided I wanted to change it and start over but it seems the unsaved slideshow is still hanging about.
I don't see how to get rid of it, I continue to see an 'Unsaved slide show' written near the top left/center of slideshow screen.I want to just ditch that attempt and start over.
I recently transferred all my work from a work computer to my mac at home. i am unable to access my work computer until October as we are having a 'break'. However, I have a deadline for September 15th and I need all my files. Some older files open perfectly fine but I fear there was a problem in downloading-perhaps due to my haste to leave and enjoy the beautiful weather! I tried downloading a Remo Repair software but unfortunately this was unable to launch.
Basic notes:
Created on Windows computer cs5
Trying to open on Mac cs5
Sd card used to transfer-couldn't eject, this may be the problem

So I have formatted and reinstalled the operating system and recovered the backup of myprivate folder files. But Now I am not able to open those files. I want to know how to open those files. View 2 Replies View RelatedI had PSE 10 installed on my Windows 7 machine when my hard drive started to fail, rendering the OS unbootable. Luckily I have all of my pictures stored on an external RAID (5+1), but I'd like to get all of my catalog information back (albums, people tags, etc.). Is there a way to do that without having to start PSE and run a backup (since that's not really feasible). There are two pieces of information that I hope will make this possible:
1) I have a backup of my c:Users directory on an external drive
2) I have successfully attached my old hard drive to a different machine where I can access most of the files on the drive (although some are corrupt).
I guess what I really need to know is what files I need to copy in order to preserve this data.
I'm always fighting memory problems with Photoshop CS6, which I work in for 5 to 8 hours every day. I have a 27" iMac with a 3.4GHz i7 processor, 32GB of RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6970M with 2GB Ram and over 1.5TB of available scratch disk space. After working thru a couple of large images I have to start monitoring RAM use via Activity Monitor and reclaiming RAM via Terminal very often in order to continue working.
I believe something strange is happening in the background because very often, when I start a new session, PS "recovers" a "large format document"... one that was properly closed in a previous session, and one that I have not asked PS to open. I feel like my whole memory usage issue is tied to the system somehow holding onto those "large format documents".
I've been working on a 32 page project for a week now and while working I noticed that the miniature preview was lost and replaced with a "pen" icon. It's usually a sign of something bad and after closing the file I tried to open it again.
Even though windows says the file is 173 MB, the file is blank. Nothing appears in the object manager either. What do I do to reveal the content? I have deadline tomorrow? The backup is corrupt too for some reason. A backup that gets corrupt - whats the use of it?
To save my photo, the program ask me to merge all my layers. But what if I want to change my photo after? Is it impossible to recover my layers after saving?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHalf a year ago I started on a project with a CD-cover that wasn't finished. Now when I want to open them, It's impossible. If I click on the files X4 opens and immediately crashes. On all CDR files. Same thing with X5. but I can open a CDR file in the folder next to this. Even the backup files seem to be corrupt. The CPT-files do however open fine.
If I start the program first and then open or import a CDR file, the progress bar halts at about 50 % and then nothing much happens.
Any chance of recovering the files, or do I have to rebuild everything?
I know one strange thing happened when I created the first file. I saved the Digipak format as a new page format and then that format stuck as default page size. I tried many times to reset it to A4, but I didn't succeed with that until I reset the workspace.
I checked the CDR files in ZIP format. In the XML file I coud see that the industry was identified as "music". How could that happen?
i've recently discovered the autosave function in corel draw x5, leading to a simple question:
how are these files named? how can i open them to restore the file?
I'm using Autocad 2013. My problem is when i use "recover files & xrefs", all the files recovered are saved as a 2013 dwg version. As we all save our files here as 2007 version so when others opened the files they are getting some of the xref files missing in the drawing.
Is there any option to save files in a lower version when i recover?
I have noticed when I go to open a file there is also a recover file. Almost every file I have worked on in the last two weeks has a recover file. This causes problems if I can’t see the entire file name and accidentally start working with the recover file.
does AutoCAD 2012 automatically create recover files? I don't have unexpected shutdowns, I have never been asked to recover or create a recover file.
When I try open a saved CAD LT 2013 file I get an Error message saying 'FATAL ERROR: Out of memory'..The file had crashed while I was working on it and the automated recover files won't open, says: 'drawing file invalid'
I can open other files. What does this mean and can the file be recovered?
I was working on something and it just disappeared and I'd really like to have it back...

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter my trial version of LR4 expired I have had a few problems with LR3.The problem now is that it seems the Collections I created while using LR4 trial version are not listed in the LR3 collection panel. As of yet I'm not sure that those are the only collections that are missing. I do have LR backed up (every time I shut down LR) but I don't know how to go about importing the collections or where to find them. I don't see "Collections" in the backup folder.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently updated from LR3 to LR4. About halfway through my edit, LR crashed. Upon trying to open up the catalog that I was currently working on, it says that the file is corrupted and prompts me to a dialog box that asks to repair catalog, quit, etc.
I attempted to click to repair the catalog, however another error dialog box pops up saying that it cannot temporarily repair the file.
I've tried everything I could possibly think of, restarted the computer. Copied the raw files and catalog and tried to open it that way -- with no luck. I was editing away and then boom.. no longer have access.
While managing my folder structure I inadvertently hit the button of the parent folder on my Folder Navigator box. As a result ALL of the time dated folders were deleted in the navigator tool. the Catalog file is still solid and the original source photos on my hard drive are in tact. No lost source data other than I no longer have a date structure for the folders to navigate. When I try to retrieve the folders and their accompanying structure by just clicking the button it doesn't allow me to retrieve, or reestablish, the links to the hard drive folder source files. I assume it is because they already are imported in my catalog so there is nothing to import?
View 2 Replies View RelatedCS6 Thinks It Has an Unsaved Document Open But it doesn't. Yesterday I did some testing that resulted in a Photoshop crash that was likely due to a bad font. I restarted Photoshop several times after that and did some testing, then just left Photoshop minimized all night.
Today I went to close Photoshop and got an indication that it thinks a PSB document is open, with the same name as the PSD file I was testing with yesterday when Ps crashed.
I assume this may be somehow related to the AutoSave feature, but the file never opened upon restarting Photoshop.
I used to be able to create animated gif's easily from unsaved files. I would simply select all the layers I wanted to use and process them.
After upgrading to CS6, I'm totally lost. I've followed half a dozen tutorials, but nothing works. The only way I can even load a frame into the Windows Timeline feature is to first save several images from my unsaved file, then reload them by choosing File > Scripts > Load Files into Stacks. But even then I can't find a Make Frames from Layers option when I click the down arrow on the right side of the palette.
Is there a simple way to create animated gif's from layers in an unsaved file on CS6, or do I need to reinstall my older Photoshop version in order to created animations?
