i've recently discovered the autosave function in corel draw x5, leading to a simple question:
how are these files named? how can i open them to restore the file?
Half a year ago I started on a project with a CD-cover that wasn't finished. Now when I want to open them, It's impossible. If I click on the files X4 opens and immediately crashes. On all CDR files. Same thing with X5. but I can open a CDR file in the folder next to this. Even the backup files seem to be corrupt. The CPT-files do however open fine.
If I start the program first and then open or import a CDR file, the progress bar halts at about 50 % and then nothing much happens.
Any chance of recovering the files, or do I have to rebuild everything?
I know one strange thing happened when I created the first file. I saved the Digipak format as a new page format and then that format stuck as default page size. I tried many times to reset it to A4, but I didn't succeed with that until I reset the workspace.
I checked the CDR files in ZIP format. In the XML file I coud see that the industry was identified as "music". How could that happen?
recover a corrupt .cdr file? I have one that is very large and I don't want to have to recreate all of it!
View 14 Replies View RelatedHow to recover a brochure that I created. Now I can view it in the preview but whenever I try and open the file it stops about 30% - 40% through opening and then crashes Corel and shuts the program down. Now I have tried to import the file as well but the same thing happens. I don't want to have to redraw the entire brochure. The file is about 186MB.
View 4 Replies View Relatedwhy (sometimes) when I export text or graphics as .eps files to my cutter it cuts the same outline up to four to five times and ends up cutting right through the backing paper. I have been using postcut with various corel editions since 1997 with no problems until recently. It also cuts random lines through lines of text which is such an expensive pain in the ass.
I started to use the production manager in flexi sign to cut my designs and same thing happens, except for the random lines but it will make up to five cuts on some objects. All text and graphics are exported the same. Has something in corel newer versions changed in relation to this?
Client supplies me with word document, I make a PDF from it and then from Acrobat create an ESP file, this is done as an eps file is much less likely to cause probs then importing a PDF, I then print from the Coreldraw file with the EPS pages no problem. The problem then arises when I have to then create a PDF file from COreldraw for the client - any EPS files in the document do not appear in the PDF - so there lies the problem.I cannot alway directly import a PDF file (often screws up) even if I save fonts as outlines. Saving as EPS overcomes most/all issues.

View 6 Replies View Relatedmy CorelDraw files are always at least 1345 kb when I have at least one vector graphic in the file. The pdf I export from it is also that big. I made a file with just one square and it's already 1345 kb.
I just started a new cdr file and created a square, nothing else.
How to open, import, convert or use old files from Corel 4?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe best way to export Corel Draw files to a format that other non-Corel users can easily manipulate? I have had trouble saving as or exporting to other vector formats in the past. I use very large files with imported jpg graphics, etc.
Also, do any of the effects/actions (drop shadows, power clipping, grouping) that we use in Corel affect the ability of other users to at least open and manipulate the file? Even if it's not exactly the same in the converted file, what is the most convenient way to allow another artist to view & manipulate Ai or EPS exported from Corel Draw? (Specifically X6 if that applies)
Since upgrading to X6 Windows will not recognise CorelDRAW as being compatible with EPS files, what I mean is when going to "Open With" CorelDRAW is not listed, and even when I browse for it, select the program file it still won't recognise it.
I've raised a support case which advised me to associate EPS in teh Tools->options->global which I have done but it makes no difference.
I'm using CorelDraw X5 with Windows 7. When I go to save a file often it won't save unless I repeat the save file command several times. Once I do get it saved the file then shows to be locked.

The file extension .sbj was used by Micrografix products, and Micrografix has since become a part of the Corel Corporation. I have thousands of these files. How can I use them in CorelDraw X5?
View 1 Replies View Relatedfile type: channeled .eps file created in photoshop (my 'goto' for screenprinting seps)
system: windows 7, coreldraw x6
problem: once imported into CorelDraw, in the print dialog the pre flight will analyze the document and it takes forever; if it does not crash, once completed every other function takes forever to edit (Ex: to deselect a spot color will take 15-20 seconds to implement)- then when printing, errors occur.
1) previous versions of Coreldraw does not have this problem
2) this happens with all printers, even pdf print driver.
3) workaround that works: save the channeled eps file as a Photoshop file.
I have a new Corel product...Graphics Suite X4 Home version operating on Windows 7. I have designed several flyers and attempted to save as a PDF file to send to an associate. However the PDF option is not available in the selection box.
So I attempted to download Service Pack 2 for Suite X4 but the installation fails on three attempts.
Upgrading to X6 today due to Windows 7 issues, per IT dept. Right off the bat, all the arrowheads on our lines are gone. We always used third one on the arrowhead drop down, but now we have to select them all and add the arrowhead back in, and then change the other half to point in the right direction.
Bug fix for this or just suck up and change 1K drawings in our library?
I have a Student and Home version of X6, and for the life of me I cannot import an existing DXF file. Is there a way to do this or am I out of luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have looked at the galleries and saw some excellent pictures. Since then I no longer can open any file . I uninstalled Coreldraw 15 and even went to repair mode, still no luck. (I reinstalled and removed many times).
I reinstalled Coreldraw 14 and any file I work on and save and close I cannot open the file.
It seems I have picked up a virus from the pictures I uploaded from Corel gallery.
I am having an issue saving file changes. I can create a file and save it, but if I make a change and try to save it again I get an error that says that the file is open elsewhere.

I have tried to get the hot-fix/updated patch for Corel X6 however that is an even worse nightmare with all the swings and roundabouts Corel trys to get you to go on before you can get a simple update.
My web designer is waiting to start work on my new website but I just can not get my design work to him.
I just installed X6 in a new computer ( the old one crashed and burned) I had both X5 & X6 in the old computer. Just installed the X6 in the new one. Several old files created in X5 will not open in X6. When I try to open them - they crash X6. Have taken files to another computer and same happens. These files open OK in X5. I have tried 'resaving them' in X5 to V12 and opening in X6 - Crashes Corel same as before..?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am fairly inexperienced using Corel. I work with Corel in a technical capacity for my job. We use it to transform DXF (AutoCAD) files into image files that can then be imported into another very specialized program for weaving.
The problem I am having is this. I would like to be able to export image files from corel that have a specified height, in pixels, larger than 10,000. In the woven program, the pixels of the incoming drawing have a real, physical representation. Namely, the number of pixels wide and high in the drawing translates directly into the number of yarns wide and high in a woven cloth repeat (weft (pick count) and warp (end count) for those who are familiar). We have some designs that require the length be longer than the 10,000 limit, and until recently we have been working around this by resizing ("scaling") the image without keeping the aspect ratio in the woven image editing program. This does ok, but when the lines and curves in the drawing get "stretched," they become very uneven and this is frustrating.
We cannot use jpg file formats because when the lines and curves of a dxf file are converted to an image and then exported from corel as a jpg, the lines do not remain smooth and complete. In other words, they become a series of standalone dots. This severely complicates working with the image in other steps. Currently, our standard is to use .tif files, and .bmp files also seem to work. However, neither seems to allow the exportation of images in excess of 10,000 pixels long.
Is there a different way we could be creating these images in order to get the type of accuracy we are looking for? DXF files have to be successfully made into image files that maintain the proportions set out in AutoCAD and which also are longer than 10,000 pixels.
I'm having 2 seperate import problems in Coreldraw X5 in Windows 7. The first one, and the one I need to fix immediatly is, every time I try to import a dfx file, the program crashes. The other which is less important right now is, a lot of times when I try to import PDF's I get an error message that says the file is corrupt.
