I cannot access the various option like "open as layers", "merge to HDR", " merge to panorama" from the Lightroom 4 dialogue box. All 4 of the options are not available, being greyed out. I would like to use these options.
View 5 RepliesJust did update to LR 4.2 When I tried to do an external edit to PS cs6, I got no options: edit original, edit a copy, edit with LR settings. It goes directly to PS without bringing the PS window to the front. It is also not added to the LR catalog. Photos are raw. Did not notice this happening before update.

For example, by loading file "template" it would set constraint options to a standard, set the background color of the application, etc. giving me a songle file to load my preferred settings.
For a first run example, need code such that when I open the file and run the rule, it would change the username from User to NWilson?
I'm very weak with the API code tools and structure, and I have zero VB experience. My train of thought is as follows:

My computer is Mac running on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 I set up my lightroom so I could edit in Element 10, but it doesnt work. It doesn't open up the image to the Element 10. This what I did;Lightroom > Preference > "External Editing" tab > choose "Adobe Photoshop Element 10 editor"
View 1 Replies View RelatedI sometimes use a trick of creating a virtual copy to get a text element of a NxN image. For example, I might use 8 images for a 3x3 and need a fourth "image" (i.e., column 1, row 2) for text. I like to take image 3 and make a virtual copy, then get that looking the way I want as my text box. When I print, I don't have to create a collection to order my images as long as the sequence-taken, along with the text box in position 4, is okay. I guess in LR 3, the virtual copy sorted after the original.
Well, I just tried the trick and the virtual copy comes before the original. I still wanted to shy away from creating a collection, so played another trick - I used the option to change the capture time under the Library module's Metadata menu, and bumped the text box up 1 second later. But the sort hasn't changed! I even forced a reconsideration of the sort by changing from capture time sort to added time sort, then back again.
Though I'm being "devious" here, it does seem to not be working correctly. Maybe sorting ignores metadata of virtual copy images?
I recently upgraded to Premier Elements 12 and loaded my photo and videos from my android (Galaxy 4G Samsung) into the new program. After which when I went to my Lightroom 5.3 I found my entire library folders except one picture with a missing file statement, gone, disappeared. All gone but the one picture. The original files are still on my hard drive, but can I get them back with my Lightroom changes that haven't been saved? How do I do this? or are they all gone?

The options menu has to be hidden somewhere because AutoCad will not allow any other commands after typing options until I hit escape. I have tried restarting CAD and rebooting my computer with not luck.

When exporting an image into the External Editor for Nik Color Efex Pro I get the Warning Dialogue (cool) but when I click the tab (to read more) "Copy File Options", it keeps reverting to sRGB as opposed to "ProPhoto RGB" (my desired Space) and something I keep resetting in Preferences> External Editors>Nik... Why???
I'm hoping this will serve as a warning to other professionals to click that tab tpo make sure you are working in "ProPhoto" if that is what you desire. Because once the information is gone, well.....
I repeat that this was not a problem with LR4 and I was having NO problems with my External Editors. So from my computer, my standpoint, a bug has been Introduced.
I would like to add some fields to filter on in the Library Filter section of Metadata. I do not see an option or a way to do this natively in LR. I am running Windows 7 64 bit with LR 4.2.
View 4 Replies View RelatedCould we have a more definitive way to establish personal defaults for IMPORT.
When I import from my camera card, I normally start in the Folder sub-panel of Library and do a right-click "Create a new folder inside ..." and then after that is completed I select the folder just created and right click again and "Import to this folder ..."
This brings up IMPORT with my destination already visually established AND the folder already created within my folder structure and then all I need to do is quickly verify my options and click IMPORT in the lower right corner.
But for the life of me, I couldn't get my options to be sticky ... e.g. preview resolution, destination, etc. I'd set them, do the IMPORT as above, finish it and when I'd go back in they wouldn't have been left the way I set them. But I knew that sometimes this DID happen.
Turns out that if you invoke IMPORT via the button in the lower left corner of Library and complete the sequence (rather than import to this folder via a right-click) ... then options set from that initiation point are sticky and are rembered the next time you go in.
My question is: could we not have a more specific way of saving the defaults on the screen so no matter how you entered IMPORT, you can establish your default and 'lock' it.
It's frustrating to be able to do just about everything in LR - but not quite. I'd like more text options for the printing module. For example, when I'm printing a limited edition print, I put the edition number in the bottom left corner, under the image, within the border of the print. The title goes in the middle, slighty larger font, and then possibly a watermark.
I can use the Identity Plate to create a nice looking title, but the Photo Info will only print in the middle with no options for positioning it anywhere else, or no options for other fonts.
In the Lens Corrections Tab, below the checkbox "Enable Profile Corrections" there is a drop-down menu to choose a setup option (Default/Auto/Custom).Unfortunately I cannot find any information on what the difference between these options is and hence when to choose which of these options.
It seems to make no difference whatever option I choose.
I'm new to Lightroom - just downloaded v.4 a few days ago and love it. Just now I installed OnOne presets (free pack recommended by Lightroom website). When I opened Lightroom after installing, my Develop module options had changed - few options, no "shadow" option (now it's called "recovery"), etc. I uninstalled OnOne but problem is the same as before.

After watching Jared Platt's creativelive course, I started creating my PSD's by exporting them in bulk, adding them back into the catalog and stacking them on top of the original raw files. After updating to LR 4.2 I don't see the option in the export dialog any more.
View 11 Replies View RelatedOne of the few things I miss about Aperture is the ability to create a number of backup vaults containing all the information needed to recover a database of photos. By that I mean the photos and the metadata needed to create the 'edited' photos. I'm wondering if it's possible to do that with LR4.
At the moment I'm backing-up my photos and catalog to a bootable drive and also backing up the catalog once a week. If I were also to backup my Lightroom folder and the associated photos to a drive (e.g. automically syning to a memory stick) would that provide all the info needed to create the edited files and metadata?
When I send photos to photoshop, they come back to Lightroom noticeably lighter even If I don't edit the picture in Photoshop. I'm using Lightroom 4.2, Photoshop CS6, images are RAW, and OS is Windows 8.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am in the Develop module trying to use the Adjustment Brush. After selecting the brush I am not seeing the window below that allows me to apply the corrections (exposure, contrast, etc.) I want. This window does show up if I select Graduated or Radial filters.
I am using LR5 with Windows 7 and have ensured that there are no LR updates avaialble. I have the latest version.
Where can I turn on options on an image and get the file size and type?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI opened up some photos to edit this evening, and have discovered that the camera profile options are gone. All that is available are the two ACR ones. I shot with the same camera and lens as I have before (Nikon D40 and 50mm), and I double checked, and I shot everything in RAW. I don't know what's going on. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, and have LR 3.6. I would really like to use Camera Standard and Camera Vivid.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use the develop module in lr for the first time, I normally use Breezebrowser. in Library mode.I have quick develop options, but in the develop module nothing shows on the right hand side of the screen at all.I have went into presents and ticked all the boxes but the only way I have options to develop are from the library module and that does not show the straigten option which i want. I have hit the D button until its worn out. This has been like this since I installed lr5, I used lr3 previously but only as a method to export images to zenfolio did not use anything apart from import and export. What do I need to do to get the options for the Develop module to show on screen? I have also hit the T for Toolbar several hundred times with no difference.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with the secondary display (window, in my case; only one monitor). When I first open the secondary display, either with a keyboard shortcut or by clicking, all is fabulous. The display modes (Grid, Loupe, Compare, Survey) are visible & clickable, as is thumbnail slider, file path. If I click or keyboard command to Loupe view, Normal, Live & Locked modes are available. However, if I close the window and then want to open it up later in my workflow, all of the aforementioned functions disappear. I'm able to bring up the Filter view, and can technically still work off the menu bar (and keyboard shortcuts, if remembered). But only if I restart the program do the full set of functions become visible again. The arrows at top & bottom don't collapse/expand to show anything more than a black border where the display & mode options once were.

The usual way by right clicking on the picture and then selecting copy the justifications and then right clicking on another picture and pasting them is very slow.
It would be fantastic if I could just use the spray tool to quickly transfer the options from one picture to a group of others. But this is only possible with presets I first have to save. But many processing options I don't want to save as a preset, because they are not that important. I just want to have a possibility to quickly play around with the options.
I worked on an image in Lightroom, got the contrast and color perfect, and when I went to "Edit in Photoshop" it completely flattened out my photo by darkening most of my lighter areas and it looks awful. Check out the sky in these two images to see what I mean. I have LR3 and CS4.

From within LR 5.2 I opened an adjusted [NEF] file in PSCC (not as a smart object) and added adjustment layers, etc. With file still open in PS, I returned to LR, made a virtual copy, changed LR adjustments, and attempted to "Edit in..." I simply get referred back to the existing canvas. I'd like to work with both, side by side, and save when I'm ready.

I am new to LR 4, so I might be missing something here. But I imported my first batch of images, and the first 15 or so have fill light, brightness and contrast as adjustments. When I click on an image beyond that, those options go away. Why the menu would change. Can do to have the option to adjust the fill light, brightness and contrast on the others?
