When I press on the text button in cs5, windows says there's a problem and then photoshop closes. I've also noticed that any text editing options in the swatches have completely disappeared too!

View 3 Replies View RelatedWorked fine until tonight... the export window completely vanished. I installed the 4.2 update, no luck. Restarted the computer, nothing. Uninstalled LR completely and re-installed it, still nothing. I can't view the window with the options regarding export, making it impossible.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have adobe CS5 and when I opened my software today, I discovered my swatches were gone from my tool bar. They are not entirely gone because I can get to them from my swatch libraries, however, I cannot drag and drop these swatches into my toolbar in order to click on them. I am trying to use the pen tool to draw a simple shape and the only swatches that come up is the none option (the white box with the red line going through it) and the registration, which I admitadly don't know much about.
I am using a Mac. I cannot figure out how to draw my shapes without a fill and using a black outline.
My tool options bar at the bottom of the screen all of a sudden disappeared. I need to change the font size. How do I get the tool options bar back?

Black Pencil
Brush Strokes
Charcoal
Coloured Chalk
Colored Pencil
Pencil
why the other art media effects all disappeared (pastel, palette knife etc) and how i can get them back?
I'm new to Lightroom - just downloaded v.4 a few days ago and love it. Just now I installed OnOne presets (free pack recommended by Lightroom website). When I opened Lightroom after installing, my Develop module options had changed - few options, no "shadow" option (now it's called "recovery"), etc. I uninstalled OnOne but problem is the same as before.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo in the transfer maps box dialog when choosing what maps to output, the AO and Custom map option has disappeared from the list. All the other options are still there, normal, displace, etc. I defragmented my disk drive a while back ago but that can't be it, can it?
Running Maya 2013 on Win 7 64-bit.
I opened up some photos to edit this evening, and have discovered that the camera profile options are gone. All that is available are the two ACR ones. I shot with the same camera and lens as I have before (Nikon D40 and 50mm), and I double checked, and I shot everything in RAW. I don't know what's going on. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, and have LR 3.6. I would really like to use Camera Standard and Camera Vivid.

View 5 Replies View RelatedYesterday while I was editing a project in After Effects I used the command-E within AE to open the selected filein my AE project in Illustrator. Everything was fine, I was able to move things across all exisint layers without changing the file layer organization structure. When I went to save the file, everything seemed to go fine and the asterisk went away indicating it saved the file. When I went back into After Effects, AE told instantly gave me an error: "After Effects error: File exists but couldn't be open for reading: "/Volumes/media/CRISP/Motion/_AIs/dining room.ai"/ (3 :: 0)". But when I go into that exact volume destination, the file is missing and I can't find it anywhere. The volume is a server on the network I use here at my job. The server has never had issues with deleted files or not being able to save files onto it. It is always on and connected.
Despite AE telling me it exists still but it can't open it, I can't find the illustrator file anywhere on my Mac or media server. I've done advanced searches with hidden files being visible and I've even looked in a couple hidden folders ".ExampleHiddenFolder" and I still can't find the file with a matching name or extension. I've even tried use the command-option-shift-open within Illustrator to see if I could open any visible file. I just can't find it anywhere and I don't know why Illustrator would just go and delete my file. Yesterday the Recent Files within Illustror would indicate that I had recently opened a dining room.ai file but when I would click on it to open it to try and recover it, AI said it couldn't locate the file. Now today the file history doesn't even show up in my recent files anymore (it is still the last file I opened in AI).
I am proficient in Illustrator, but this has been one of a few enigmas. Every once and a while in a file, I have noticed that after deleting a color that is definitely not in use(ie there are no strokes, fills, stray paths etc) using these colors. I have made sure of it. I will delete the color from the swatches and as a final pass I like to add used colors and sure enough that color will come back. I tried making sure it's not checked global, didn't work, some I don't even think are global colors, and in fact they are generally CMYK. I often notice that Black and C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100 don't like to delete from the swatches among some other colors when you delete unused swatches. I thought perhaps they were in guides or something but it's truly unexplainable, and generally with a fresh file if all colors are deleted it'll still leave black white and gray.
Or ways to troubleshoot better other than creating a debug file and deleting lines of code as recommended in the older forums?
Just did update to LR 4.2 When I tried to do an external edit to PS cs6, I got no options: edit original, edit a copy, edit with LR settings. It goes directly to PS without bringing the PS window to the front. It is also not added to the LR catalog. Photos are raw. Did not notice this happening before update.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI was wondering why Batang and Arial were appearing in the Fonts under Document Properties when I had not actively used them in my "New" document.
When I looked at the Default text files, I believe I see the reason. I find Batang listed as the default Asian Text font for both Artistic and Paragragh Text. The options for Asian Text don't seem to include any fonts that I have on the old machines.
Similarly, the Middle East Default Text style would seem to generate the Arial(Arabic) entry in the required fonts.
Is there a way to completely eliminate the default Asian Text and Middle East entries from the default text styles?
The problem just came today while i tried to copy/paste text from Ms Word. As I usually do it asks me about formatting options before pasting text but today its not working the way it should. It simply pastes plain text without all formatting I did to my document in Ms Word. I even tried to repair my software but nothing worked.

When attempting to add simple text on an individual layer, the layer is turning black. This prevents me from seeing the text I'm editing. When I move to another layer the text displays correctly. When I go to edit the text by clicking the image the layer goes black again. It is like editing text in the dark, turning the light on to see the changes, turning the light off to make the changes, repeat.
Text has disappeared from Illustrator files? I can make a text box but no text shows up at all....when I pull up other files the text is missing aswell. I am sure I just clicked something

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Text Extrusions in Photoshop CC (Ext) as I typically model in a 3D app. I'm modeling text that will merge with a photographic background. All the tools are fairly straightforward, but I keep getting hard edges on the text bevels. I just want a basic smooth rounded bevel (fairly narrow). But the bevel options I choose all tend to create a dark outline at the bevel. Is it possible to edit the bevel options?
Also, even though I have selected soft shadows, the shadows cast by the letter form onto itself have hard edged ray trace shadows. Is there a setting the will soft the shadow edges? I have viewed a couple of useful tutorial videos, but they don't address the issues I'm trying to solve.
So I have created some text in Photoshop on top of a dark grunge type background, using various blending options. Now I want to change the background of the image, but I want the text to retain its look. Is there some way to freeze the text layer and its blending options so that I can change the background while keeping the text's look the same?

I used to click on the A in the toolbox and look up on the menu to change between paragraph text and artistic text but I can't find that icon or any icons to choose paragraph text. It eludes in customizing the tookbox too?
How do I get that paragraph text tool to show up in menus, bars and the toolbox?
I am clicking on a layer in GIMP, and when I click on the text tool, this dialog pops up "CONFIRM TEXT EDITING" "the layer you selected is a text layer but it has been modified using other tools. Editing the layer with the text tool will discard these modifications. You can edit the layer or create a new text layer from its text attributes."
with 3 options, Create New layer, Cancel, and Edit however, no matter what I click, it doesn't let me create new text anywhere.ALSO, it seems to jump from the layer i selected to another layer whenever I click "EDIT."
What is weird is that I was able to create new text prior to this, but not anymore. it's gimp 2.8.0
I don't know if I'll be able to see them in 4.0, but I would like to see more options for text like choosing the different weights of a font or adjusting kerning. I'm not a pro at typography, but it would be nice. I'd also like to see more point to use with the line tool or being able to add points. Its not really that important, but it would be convenient.

Specifically speaking I want to add some text in the image. The text has to be in the same font, size etc etc so that it does not looks like it has been editied.
i'm trying to follow this tutorial on how to make ice Text. Right in the beginning of the turtorial it asks me to create a new document so big...blah blah. It tells me to use the type tool to add some text. And then press ok and cut the text, then paste the text to automatically center it. Thats just it...it wont let me cut the text.
