Lightroom :: 4.3 - How To Make Metadata Saved To XMP File Stay Saved
Mar 12, 2013When a raw file badge shows that the file has been changed, I use Metadata Save to File & for the large majority of my images, the badge goes away and Metadata Status Changed does not show the file. For some of my files, however, the Save to File command doesn't work properly. If I am only displaying files with changes, the file briefly disappears, then returns. Even if I go to Windows Explorer and delete the xmp file, then again Save metadata to file, it pops up again with the badge saying it needs to be saved. I'm using Lightroom 4.3 64 bit on Windows 7.

Feb 20, 2004how can I make a duotone from multichannel pic.
I've got Grayscale pic with spot colour channel (pantone bla bla), black channel and couple of layers. Preview(although grayscale) shows spot colour (blueish). One layer is a woman(black channel only), second is her shadow (black channel only) which overprints-multiply the background which should be that spot colour. That background is not in layer, but in channel.
It would all work well, but I need to make a duotone to be able to save it as EPS, and not as DCS 2 as it is now. Reason for that is that I have to make a PDF and my composite driver(ppd) won't spool it to PDF. If I print separations(to PDF) it's all fine, but I need a composite image with spot colour background.
Lightroom :: How To Update Saved Gallery When Module Change And Click On Saved Gallery Icon Changes Are Lost
Jun 3, 2012I created a Web Gallery and forgot to update the folder name for the FTP server.
How can I update the saved gallery? If you change module and double click again on the saved gallery icon, the changes are lost.

How do you solve this without the need to delete and save the gallery again?

I am trying to use the presets for duotones.
I go Image | Mode | Duotone | Load...and get nothing. The Duotones folder is empty. A quick search of the internet suggests that the files have been moved. So I searched my pc for *.ado and got nothing. No files.

Mar 30, 2004Have a question regarding setting up a file for printing 2-color images...Similar to an earlier thread, I am starting off with a CMYK file, which I've changedf to a grayscale file. However, this grayscale file is a layered photographic pattern, one layer has a crossstitch-like scanned-in pattern, another layer has a textured background pattern with little dots. I would like to convert this image to a 2 color image, where the different colored areas do not overlap(one color being the crossstitch pattern and the small dots, the other color the textured background). I've tried using the duotone function in photoshop, but keep on getting color blending of these two colors where they overlap. Is there any way using this duotone function to specify that the 2 colors don't overlap/overprint each other? I am planning to use 2 pms colors (7509 and 259 while I test out ways until I get my 2-color idea working).
I also tried doing spot channels, and even though this makes it easy to indicate which parts of the image are specifically one color or the other, the colors are flat colors, and I lose the texturing and "3-d" effect the grayscale pattern has right now.

Jul 15, 2013I'm trying to customise my drawing templates to keep them up to date and also include accountability.I seem to be having trouble in including the name of the person who has last saved the model, and the date the model was last saved.
Manually including this information isn't ideal as people will forget, and it makes it harder to trace revisions.I can't see anywhere on the iProperties where the 'Last saved by' feature is available, but I thought maybe the information could be pulled from the username from the application options?
The last saved date should be easy, as there is a modified date in the model's iproperties; however, I cannot pull this information.I have used other cad packages in the past and this was never an issue. With all the customisation of Inventor, I thought this would be relatively straight forward.
GIMP :: How To Restore Layers Or Previously Saved Version Of Saved XCF Image
May 2, 2012I have a capstone lab project due tomorrow for my graphic arts class and I made a HUGE mistake!!! I created an image using 20 something layers and did SAVE AS as a .xcf image (with all layers open). Part of the project was to save in different formats: .xcf (with open layers), a .png, and a .jpeg (optimized). So, I did the first save and then flattened the image to SAVE AS a .png with a different file name.
Long story short, I was tired and had way too many images open at once. When I was closing all of the images I accidentally saved the changes (flatten image) to my original .xcf (with open layers)!!!! Now, my .xcf that is supposed to have open layers only has one layer...the finished project!! I tried going to the file properties to restore a previous version, but it says that no previous versions were found! I also downloaded a norton "unerase" utility, but maybe I am not scanning properly to locate the file!?!
Lightroom :: PSD File Saved In LR5?
Sep 30, 2013In LR I use a kind of automate to correct files roughly. When I edit a raw file in PS-CC with the ' in LR made' corrections, LR makes a new PSD file in LR. So far so good.
Saving this PSD file it appears to be much different in LR, becuase of the auto correction. The files was allready correctied / develloped before the edit in PS, now I have to reset alle setting back to 0.
Lightroom :: No JPEG Saved To LR4 From CS6?
Mar 28, 2013I'm running LR4.3 and CS6 on an iMac. I open a raw file in LR4, then open in CS6 from Lightroom. Edit a little, save as a jpeg, close, and the file does not come back into Lightroom. Either in a folder or in the collection. TIF and PSD come in... but not jpeg.
So I try to import the image. It does not show up in the folder as a non imported image... or at all. Then, I open my hard drive from Finder, go into the folder and there it is.
Lightroom :: Edits In NIk HDR Pro Not Saved?
Aug 23, 2012I have the plugins for Nik HDR Pro in my Lightroom 4 on my Mac (OS X 10.6). When I save the file with the changes and return to Lightoom, the changes I made are not there. I have had the same problem with a filter on my Olympus E5 which emulates an HDR effect - the effects are not visible when downloaded to Lightroom.

Nov 24, 2013I am trying to find my way, of how to submit my photos to the external lab for printing. Print module is kind of useless for me - the page setup is printer driver dependant and none of my installed printer drivers allows me to define borderless print and so LR does not allow me to set margins to zero. I think, that such desing limitation is pretty strange, especially if you just want to print to the jpeg file.
So - then I moved on to the crop tool. What a bunch of inconsistencies and design limits:
- LR seems to use some kind of catalog dependant storage, instead of just some for e.g. custom XML or other kind of list
- LR mysteriosly remember your last 5 settings. If you do a mistake, you need to reenter all of them again
- you can't even name your custom ratio settings - that's imo pretty much insufficient
- I need to set precious ratio setting for the Noritsu machine, so that I get exact resolution. Good for two of my settings, but when I try for my 13x18cm (2268 x 1625 pix), LR deletes my custom setting and marks 5x7 for me. But it is off by 10 pixels on one axis! Some strange rounding and matching was applied, but I can't it set exactly to what I need. Why does LR mess with what I want, if I select custom ratio?!
So I thought, that I might make a preset. I noticed, that when you copy setting from an image, there is a crop section. But - exactly the same dialog, which allows us to save settings, does miss a crop section. What a bummer! I found xy requests, where ppl were asking for the functionality few years ago. I am very negatively surprised, that it was yet not granted for implementation, especially as some of crop tool facilities are pretty arcane at best.
What I am now thinking about is to prepare three model images, make separate folder for them, and use them as a source for the cropping setting to copy from, but of course I would like the crop functionality to be enhanced/fixed.
Lightroom :: Not Recognizing TIF File Saved In PS?
Dec 16, 2013After I take a photo into PSCC, make adjustments, then hit "save", the .tif doesn't show up in LR. If I do an "Import", the .tif file shows up grayed out in the correct folder. If I use "save as" and try to drag and drop that file, it will not import as it says that file is already in the catalog. I'm on a new Mac Pro, using the CC.

Mar 30, 2012I was testing Lightroom 4 Beta and I prepared a Blurb Book... I worked on it over a period of several days, and it was find, always there... It kind of automatically saved, once it has been created, for what I understood.
Today I was working on a photoshop file to creat a cover for it (no template allowing me to do what I needed inside of Lightroom), and that was the last step before to send it to print.
I had to navigate into the Library module to send pictures to photoshop. And when I get back to the Book module... it was all reset. No picture, only a 2 pages empty project.
I quited without saving anything, hoping to get the software back to where it was, but it didn't work. It seems I lost all my work.
I'm not familliar with apps that save projects on there own. Where is my book? How can I get it back?

Oct 30, 2013When I create a saved book in Lightroom 5 Book Module, the number of photos is listed to the right of the saved name in the Collections list, but there are no photos displayed in the Book itself. If I leave the Book Module and return, there is no change, all I see is the standard startup book template with a few blank pages.

Jun 9, 2012I am using LR 4.1, and PS6 with ACR 7.1, although I have this same issue PS 5.1 and ACR 6.7. I select "edit in Photoshop", and when finished save as a tiff (same problem with PSD) in the same folder where the raw file (in my case CR2) is. The saved tiff looks far different from the way it looked in PS. Typically it is much lighter. In fact, I can select "edit in Photoshop", do nothing in PS, save as a tiff the same thing occurs. If I save the tiff to another folder, there is no change. So, it appears LR is modifying the tiff image in some way when saving. This is with Windows 7 and ProPhoto RGB in both LR and PS.

Apr 12, 2012In my lightroom library I have created a collection set called "Wedding". As I have 1000 photos from my wedding, within this Collection Set I have created 10 or more Collections to organise these photos (Ceremony, Reception, First Dance, etc.).
I have created a new 'Book' which as expected, has created a new Collection within my 'Wedding' collection set.
When I first create the book (before saving it) it seems like I can click on a page, then browse my Collections and add the photo that I desire to the page.
After I have saved the book, I can't so this. I want to work on my book later, and use my existing organisation of photos, and add photos to my books from these collections.
I know I am missing something basic (I am new to lightroom). I don't understand why I can't add a photo to my book after I have saved it. Each time I click on one of my other collections, a new unsaved book appears in the main project window.
I have worked out that if I copy all my wedding photos into the new "Book" collection, then my photos are available for use - but this defeats the purpose of organising my photos into separate collections, and it doesn't seem like you can create a sub-collection within the Book project.
Lightroom :: 4.3 - No Images Saved On Card While Tethering 1D MK IV
Apr 22, 2013I plugged canon 1D mark IV with LR 4.3 for tether shooting. it works great. However, I realized that there is no image save on my CF card. All images were transferred to the computer via tethering. I really want to keep a copy of the card for logistics reason. I couldn't find any setting on LR preference regarding this.

Aug 8, 2013I have spent the entire day trying to solve this and I finally found a fix but not the cause. I have tried all the typical ways to sync/read/render to see the xmp data in LR.
After all of this I found the only way for me to see the xmp data is to open the xmp as a text document then save it go into lightroom read metadata and it shows up. This obviously isnt a workable solution for thousands of files so I need to find a cause.
So a little info. I'm using LR5 on a windows. I edit clients images then send them the xmp files with those edits. I have one client thats photos when imported do not show metadata or develop adjustments. This is the only solution I have found to see the info. I believe they are using LR 4 and a MAC.
Is it possible that the problem is the original files are saved on a mac then transfered to my windows machine.

May 28, 2013My assistant and I work simultaneously from different laptops (and, therefore, different LR catalogs), and I'd like to be able to transfer the 'Develop' changes she makes to the RAW images in her catalog to the same RAW images in my master catalog. I figured one way to do this is to manually save the metadata from the RAW images she works on and apply that metadata to the same RAW images on my computer. I've successfully exported her metadata as .xmp files, but how do I open that data in LR on my computer so that it applies to the images in my catalog?
