LR 4 seems to consume and continue consuming lots of memory that is not released upon exiting. This condition occurs whether or not anything is being done in LR. Running LR4.1, Win 7, i7 processor w/ 12 GB ram THis did not occur in LR3.

What do I do if I make a mistake with the lasso tool right at the end of a big lasso? How to I delete the little bit it messed up and carry on where I left off with the selection?
Also, how do I "add" to a lasso selection? Say I have made a magnetic lasso selection and it selects my t shirt ok but cuts across the neck line of my t shirt (thus cutting off my head) because it cant tell the difference between the background and head. How do I then use the manual lasso to cut around my head and join the two pieces together into one selection?
Now that I have Windows 7 and CS 6 is fully functional, I have a few quirks. One involves the cursor. If I am, say, using the hand tool to move across an image, when I release the hand tool, the image continues to slide across the screen. Is there something I need to disable to get this to stop?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use GIMP on Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick), installed using the regular packages. It seems to work fine apart from one problem: when I make a selection with e.g. the rectangle selection tool, there's no visible feedback of how big the selection is, only the cursor is visible(couldn't take a screenshot while the mouse button was clicked, but tried to show it at [URL] ......).
If I try to resize a rectangle, the inside purple line moves, while the outside purple line stays where it was (instead of showing how big the new rectangle will become when I release the mouse button).
Also, possibly related, there are sometimes purple artifacts from old selections.
If you use the Create Envelope from Top Shape feature, and then later Release the Envelope you at first appear to get your original shape back.
But it's actually an object called a Mesh. While you can apply Fills and Strokes to this released Mesh, there are some things you can't do with it.
Like setting the Stroke to Inside or Outside. You also can't use this Mesh with the Pathfinder Operations.
Is there a way to return a released Envelope Mesh back a normal path?
I am using corel x3 a long time but never, never had this kind of problem. When i work in corel enviorenment after i have finished my work i go to save my work. But then is the problem It Saves the file with Large Memory on it. let's say if the file normally would be 200 K, now it saves with 3 MB. And if i import some other files in my work then the saved file will be even bigger. If i Delete the files that were imported The Saved File will be Again the same SIZE ! Even if a take one part of the file, let's say if i import only one small text and put it in another file and save it like that, the saved file will be 2 MB. I had a lots of problems, i had saved files on this way with 23-24 MB and when i open them it takes like forever. When you look that file in corel it has nohing in it, absolutely nothing that should be 24 MB. But all of my important work is in that files how to make all things back to normal again,
View 9 Replies View RelatedI do have problem with my newly installed CorelDraw X5. Before X5 we used Corel 12 in our company.
I have project file (150 MB) with lots of text, bitmaps, vectors - about 100 pages. File opens but I can't save it. I always get OUT OF MEMORY error. I even tried to divide this file into 2 smaller parts but still doesn't work.
What I noticed - Corel X5 after clean start (without opened project) takes about 80MB of RAM in task manager. When I open project usage changes from 80MB to 1,2GB. While saving it takes 1,6GB of RAM and it crashes.
To compare - Corel 12 and after opening same project file Corel 12 takes much less of memory - about 770MB and it works without problem.
Where from comes this memory usage difference?

Was working on a Tiff file which started fine then my LR3.6 started to slow down more and more the more work i did. Now it wont operate at all. I increased the RAW cache from 1 to 5GB even though I had only imported 1.5GB of new pics. My laptop is a DELL XPS running Windows Vista with CORE 2 DUO T9300 2.50GHZ, 4GB of RAM and 12GB of available hard drive space but LR System info says it is running at 170% of memory available. I have closed all applications other than LR. What do I do?

With nothing else running it takes 1.8GB or the 2.0 installed and the system starts thrashing like crazy. Once it has reached the max the cropping function fails, image display becomes painfully slow, and loading Photoshop is totally impossible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLightroom 5 on Windows 7 32 Bit and 8 Gigabytes of memory (more than the 32 Bit system can use) permanently runs out of memory when doing some more complex edits on a RAW file, especially when exporting to 16 Bit TIFF. The RAW files were created by cameras with 10 up to 16 megapixel sensors with bit depths between 12 and 14.
After exporting one or two images to 16 Bit uncompressed TIFF an error message "Not enough memory" will be displayed and only a Lightroom restart solves that - for the next one to two exports. If an image has much brush stroke edits, every additional stroke takes more and more time to see the result until the image disappears followed by the same "Not enough memory" error message.
A tab character in the XMP sidecar file is *not* the reason (ensured that), as mentioned in a post. It seems that Lightroom in general does not allocate enough memory and frees too less/late allocated.
fix that bug, it's not productive permanently quit and restart Lightroom when editing/exporting a few RAW files. Versions prior to Lightroom 4 did not have that bug.
My Lightroom 4 on a Mac has stopped importing from a memory card. It used to do so, but now it hangs up and never actually imports the photos. If I save the photos from the card to a folder on my desktop, it works just fine. I have tried several different memory cards at different speeds, sizes, fullness, and it doesn't seem to matter. What can I do to go back to importing directly from the memory card?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I import images from my memory card, the images in preview are colored but when rendered in LR4, they are automatically converted to black and white. I made sure that in the import panel that 'Import During Import'> Develop Settings> None. My images show up in LR4 colored for an instance then convert to black and white. This is the first time I have encountered this problem. Am I missing something. I've checked my camera settings with nothing that I believe is the problem. I've been successful in using the other presets under 'Apply during Import' > Develop Settings, but using 'None' doesn't prevent the images from being converted to black and white in LR4. the same is true for importing to Bridge in PS-CS6. I get the same results of all the images being converted to black and white.
View 7 Replies View RelatedDiscovered that my main drive's memory was extremely low. I use all external drives for storage & backups, so only programs & program files are on my 500GB C: drive. I've found this "Lightroom Data" folder is consuming 318GB of memory!! I found LR is currently references the catalog "2007 lightroom-2-2". I backup & optimize each time I finish another session.
I don't know what is important in this Lightroom Data folder and what can be dumped in here. I'm posting a screen shot.

I normally choose to "Move" images from my memory card to a hard drive folder when importing into Lightroom so that the card is then clear to use again. I cannot think of any settings I have changed Lightroom no longer gives me the option to move or add from a card. Is this an undocumented "Feature" of v3.3
View 13 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded lightroom 5.4 the other day and today was the first time I went to download images with it.
I could review all my images before I plugged my card into the card reader and attempted to download them, when I opened the import window in lightroom the first image on the card had a preview, but it was greyed out and the rest of the images came up with the .CR2 icon and when I tried to import them I got an error message saying that the files cannot be read.
I tried ejecting the card and putting it back in my camera, but now I can't see the images on my camera either or save them manually to my hard drive.
The files are from a Canon 5D mk II and I shot all the images in RAW with no JPG's.
I'm using LR 4.2 and trying to export to PS CS6 on my Win 7 Asus 4gb laptop with 45gb free space on my hard drive.
I have made substantial edits to a raw file in LR and am attempting to export it to PS for final edits (cloning out extraneous features) at 16cm and 150 ppi (less than ideal but still too large). The working file is 73 mb.
However, I am getting an unsufficient memory error when trying this on Tif or Psd, even Jpg. I can get it to export as original, which gives me a DNG but then I get the same lack of memory issue when trying to open it in Photoshop.
What I can do is open the working DNG file in Photoshop but then only some of my adjustments come through - all the noise removal I have done has gone and the image is very noisy in PS. I can also convert it to Tiff using VSO Image Resizer and open this in PS but again, the noise is there.
The image is to be used as the cover photo on an A4 magazine so needs to be of print-quality.
I had LR4 working just fine but now I cant import from camera or memory card?

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I tried to export several (say 15) Fuji X-Trans files at the same time, I got a "Not Enough Memory" Error. This problem only occurred after after upgrading to Lightroom 4.4. I can now only export a few (3-5) X-Trans files at the same time.
I am using Windows 7 32-bit with 4GB memory, SSD System drive, and Radeon 7700 Graphics card. For Virtual memory, I set "no paging file" on C drive and "system managed size" on another SSD drive.
It seems as if there is no rhyme of reason as to how the import process presents the previews to select for import. I did s shoot last night and the images are spread out over different areas between other photos that I took in the past. Shouldn't they just be sorted by image name so they are presented together?
