I have both Photoshop CS5 and CS6 installed on my pc. I run on Windows 7 64 bits.
My problem is that in Lightroom 4.2 in Edit Preferences, the top panel "Edit in Photoshop" is "Edit in Photoshop CS5" and I cannot find a way to change this to CS6.True, I can choose CS6 as my Additional External Editor, but what I need is to have Photoshop CS6 as my MAIN editor. (At the top of the Edit - Preferences list.
Same thing happens when in Lightroom I choose" Photo, Edit in."The top choice (and the Ctrl+E) is CS5 again. I can list CS6 as an alternative, but it's not what I want..I get Photoshop CS5 opening automatically and I just can't stop it!
I need to keep Photoshop CS5 on my computer for printing purposes with a Canon Print Plugin I have for a large format printer. And so I reinstalled Photoshop CS5 recently. I wonder if it's because I re-installed it after installing my CS6 that's caused the problem.
Where in Lightroom 4.2 can I change from Photoshop CS5 to CS6 as the main top preference.
I have Lightroom4.2 ~ month & have taking it slow with the DVD-ROM insrtuctions & book. The presets are fine on the left side of the screen; but when I try to access the presets under edit>preferences, they only show the Adobe logo. (I thought I was following the directons from the DVD closely enough, but they are confusing when they mention to have your presets in your catalog.)
need to check and access the Edit>preferences>performance>use Graphics Processor option setting through the script. i cant find it in the object domain, I have the following to check the current state:
var ref = new ActionReference(); ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('capp'), charIDToTypeID('Ordn'), charIDToTypeID('Trgt') ); var openglEnabled = executeActionGet(ref).getObjectValue (charIDToTypeID('CchP')).getBoolean (stringIDToTypeID('openglEnabled')); alert( openglEnabled );
but then i am unable to set the value using this:
var openglEnabled = executeActionGet(ref).getObjectValue (charIDToTypeID('CchP')).putBoolean (stringIDToTypeID('openglEnabled'));
I tried using a recorded action but that doesnt work.ns
Where to set this preference in Camera RAW? This note is from the Lightroom 4 ReadMe. I can't seem to fine prefs for "Camera RAW."
Viewing Lightroom settings in Camera Raw
Before working in conjunction with Lightroom and Camera Raw please set the Camera Raw preference to: Save image settings in: Sidecar ".xmp" files. By default Camera Raw will display the image adjustments exactly as performed in Lightroom‟s develop module.
I am using LR5 on one computer but have all my photos and the Lightroom catalog folder & files on an external hard disk. When I run LR5 on a second computer using the same files on the EHD most things seem to be working fine, the 1:1 previews, user presets, etc. But there are a number of items in Preferences and View options that don't have the settings I made when using the other computer. I was under the impression all the LR5 settings and preferences were stored in the Lightroom folder and would therefore "transfer" to a second computer assuming I use the same LR catalog and Lightroom folder.
Today when i started LR it acted like it was the first time again. it asked me for my country, serial number and registration info again. Once it started I found that all of my preferences, identity plate settings and things like that are gone. All of my photos are still there but something changed.
I'm running LR 4.1 with ACR 7.1 on a Windows 7 64 bit OS.
I set my preferences to open most recent catalog.
I then open another catalog and do some stuff in the catalog but when I start LR next time it keeps going back to a different catalog. How can I change the settings so it either opens the most recent catalog or I get prompted for which catalog I'd like to open (I've tried both settings) and LR still keeps opening the same catalog.
I am having trouble finding the location I need to prevent LR 5 from moving around my grid screen after using the paint brush tool or any tool to change it's rating. I would like to focus on tagging/organizing my rated files as my priorty but without my screen shifting to the image that's changed... if it would just dissaper to the proper loaction I would be much happier than having to scroll back down to where I left off.
I'm running on LR 5.3, but this problem persisted in LR 5.2. Working in PS CS6 and Camera Raw 8.3. RAWs are NEFs from a Nikon D600.
I can't figure out what happened but suddenly I am not getting prompts when moving from LR to PS to "Edit Original" or "Edit a Copy".
I reset all dialog warnings and nothing. The prompt will appear for TIFFs but not for NEFs.
It's kind of pointless to not be able to choose to edit an original or copy with LR adjustments for a RAW when they are the file types that retain my RAW editing information.
Plus, when I do click on a NEF and choose to edit in PS without the prompt (it will appear with lightroom adjustments, not as original), it will open a second icon for photoshop on my dock, and prompt me to continue trial? I have a version of PS installed with the serial plugged in, and in LR "edit in PS" for a TIFF will open this primary version.
I would like to send images from LR3 to Photoshop Elements 10 for editing and would like the copy sent to PSE 10 to be distinguished from the original by having 'Edit' added to the end. I believe LR3 does this by default (have been reading Scott Kelby's book) but I must have done something to change this and don't know how to get back to this default.
Also at the end of doing some editing, the instructions in Scott kelby's book, are very clear, just press Command-S to save the image and Command-W to close it. He's very specific about not doing anything else like choose 'Save As'. But when I pressed Command-S, a box appeared and I had to choose Save As or Cancel. Is that because his instructions work with full Photoshop but not Elements 10 or am I just not understanding something fundamental here?
I am trying to access the edit original (edit with) option to edit a photo that has not been edited yet. I right click and go through the edit menu and does not appear or is not available? Would I have to reopen it manual in photoshop or is there a way around this to access that setting? it sometimes does not appear on my already edited photos.
I would prefer not to open each photo again, as some files i do not have and were imported into the document with another computer.
Am using LR 2 on Version 7, 64 bit machine, and, when right clicking an image file, cannot select CS5 as editing software. In fact, all choices are "grayed" out as being non-selectable, including Edit in Other Application. Used to be able to do it, but not
how I can setup Lightroom 3.6 to edit in CS5 where all my Actions and Plug-In software is located.
I have CS6 installed on my Win 7 operating computer so Lightroom 3.6 automatically defers to CS6 which I have not setup and transfered my actions and plug-in.
If I export a photo, then make edits and want to save them, should I export them again? It looks like when I export a photo a 2nd time, then I get an additional photo on my hard drive. This is not really want I'm trying to do - I'm just trying to save it as an edited copy.
I think this contributed to some of the problems I was having with getting too many photos, then discarding the "extras" - that apparently was a bad, bad thing to do, but I'm still not quite sure how to handle this.
I can have one photo in multiple collections and edit them differently. Right now if I edit in one collection the photo will change in all the collections. For example I want a collection with just Black and White pictures, but I want to still have the same pictures in color in a different collection. This is in LR3.
when I edit and save a file in Photoshop CS6 from Lightroom. After I save and return to LR4.2 in Windows Explorer it puts the TIFF in the same directory next to the original RAW file as it should, however in the Library module it gets a different entry. So I end up with the same directory listing with the photocount 1 next to it. It also doesn't show up in the main directory where all the other files are, it's not next to the originel RAW.
I can do "show parent folder" until the point I get to the root directory which then gives me an error message which says.
I don´t know why, but suddenly there seems to be no way, I can get edit in PS with LR adjustments. There used to be an options box in LR when selecting "edit in Photoshop". Now I get no options, and my adjustments from LR does not show in PS. I have tried both the tiff and PSD setting in preferences/external editing, but no luck. I have also used the "Reset Warnings" in LR, hoping this would bring back the external edit dialog box, but no luck.
as I have a lot of urgent work to do, and I go back and forth between LR and PS a lot.
Mac OS 10.8.5 Photoshop CS6 13.0.5 x64 Camera Raw 8.2.094 Lightroom 5.2
It still errors out saying lightroom can't prepare the file, worked fine with all my random applications (Nik, Portraiture, etc.) in 3. Updated all I can figure to, reinstalled, used the CS Cleaner Tool, etc. No dice.
I recently purchased Lightroom 4 and tried to edit in Elements 10. I got the same error message that has become popular on many forums. I purchased Lightroom 4 with the intent of editing in Elements so this is very frustrating. Also, what is RC2 that I have seen referred to on many posts?
Today I decided I would try to use Lightroom to edit my latest photo shoot instead of Aperture just to test it out. If I imported all of my pictures as .CR2 files, are the photos I'm editing the RAW photos or the JPG photos? I do all of my shoots in RAW+JPG, and I don't know which files I'm editing in LR. In Aperture it's easy to tell because the RAW and JPG files show up separate but this isn't the case in LR. If I go into "Metadata" for the photos it lists the file name as "IMG_xxxx.CR2," but it also lists "JPG" under "Sidecar Files." I don't know if that means I'm editing the JPG or if that's just telling me that the JPG exists in the CR2 file.
I'm running a Mac and since upgrading to lightroopm 4.4 I can't right click and edit in photoshop. The option is there and it starts photoshop but thats it, there is no photo imported into photoshop. I can right click and edit in a Nik software module with no problem. I'm using the creative cloud so I cant really reinstall from a disc.
I am about to upgrade to LR 5. Currently I use LR4.4 which uses Camera RAW 7.4. LR5 uses Camera RAW 8.2. Will I be able to edit RAW files in LR5 and still continue to edit the resultant files in Photoshop CS5 without using a DNG conversion?
After deleting a Smart Collection in Lightroom 3.6, the option to Edit Collection that was previously in the context menu is gone. Double-clicking the Collection Name will not bring up the Edit Dialog either. I tried removing the preferences and letting Lightroom create a new one but that didn't fix it either. Not sure what else to try.
In addition to Lightroom 4.4, I have both Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop C6 on my main computer. When I am in lightroom and I want to export to HDR using photoshop Lightroom alwas defaults to Photoshop CS6. Is there any way to make lightroom default to Photoshop CS5 for HDR merging. Or is there any way to change the default to Lightroom CS5.
