I have some files that were originally edited in LR3. They appear in my LR5 library, but with the old LR3 density tools (i.e. 'fill light' and 'highlght rescue'). How to I switch to the LR5 density mode (i.e. 'shadows' and 'highlights')?
View 1 RepliesToday I encountered a weird problem with Lightroom. When I switch from Library to Develop to edit photos, immediately, the photo changes. I get strange blue highlights appearing in an area that is largely black, and red, where there is white.If I do a command Z (on a Mac), it just changes back to Library mode.

I have VS4Pro and a Hauppauge Collosus capture card and I get the error "unable to switch to cpature mode" when I'm in the capture tab and click capture video. VS4Pro recognizes the card but pops up the error "unable to switch to capture mode". In device manager, the drivers for the card appear to be installed/operating correctly.

however, when switching to indexed mode GIMP will alter my colours if i choose to use a palette with less colours than i have in the image. This is the most noticable if for example i have an image with bacgkround #ffcc00 and a multicoloured icon in the middle. due to the icon the image probably has over 100 colours. if i then choose 64 colours not only will it affect the colours in the icon, but change the entire, large, unicoloured background area to maybe fec50a (just an example). is there anyway to force GIMP to only use colours already present in the image?

This may be related to other imported catalog bugs, but does not seem to be quite the same. In Lightroom 4, with an upgraded Lightroom 3 catalog:
1. Select a photo in Library mode.
2. Click on Develop to go to Develop mode
Screen shows "No photo selected". I cannot edit photos in Develop mode.
I can see and edit photos that are found in smart collections, but not photos that are simply in my collections from 2012, 2011, etc. folders

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen working on images in Develop, Lightroom 5 is distorting them. For example, let's say I'm looking at an image in Library view (fig.1), then switch to Develop view (fig.2) — the image is suddenly compressed horizontally (or stretched vertically, however you choose to describe it).
At other times, images get distorted and rotated (fig.3). And at other times, images were appearing as though a sharpen filter had been applied with accented highlights — but this particular distortion doesn't seem to be happening anymore.
This does not happen to all images in the catalog. I'm running LR 5.2 on a 15" MBP with 16GB ram and a 1.2TB fusion drive.
I'm late on a deadline beause of this, and other local (NYC) experts, as well as Adobe phone support, are as stumpted as I am.

I've been testing LR 5 Beta since it came out and have found it to be very stable. I'd like to switch my main workflow over to it. I back up every night to two different drives (one internal drive in my Mac Pro, and one external drive), and I also have an automated off-site back-up service. I'm not worried about data loss.
But how do I do this? In the past I've waited until the full release when LR 5 would just upgrade my catalog. Can I just open my LR 4 catalog in LR 5 and upgrade it?
How do I tell LR4 to include or switch from one catalog to another, import and save to newer catalog. Now I am unable to import from an older catalog.

View 7 Replies View RelatedFor no reason I can think of, sometimes the photo I see is different from the one that should be there. The correct one shows up in Develop, but I don't understand why Library shows a different one. Sometimes all the images in a folder get shifted over by one, or sometimes one is a duplicate view of another. And then for no reason it seems to resolve. But meanwhile I'm afraid to export the catalog to copy on another computer for fear that I'm exporting incorrect data.

After I have re-imported a corrupted xml file with print templates, LR starts with error "An error occured while trying to switch between modules" (or so, translated from german).This happens after selecting a catalog - however, regardless of the catalog choosen (even after creating a new one).Funny enough, for other users on the same system, the problem does not occur.

If I use Ctrl-Z to undo changes it will jump back to the previous image and start undoing changes there (if I made changes in that order). Is there a way to make it stay on the current image and undo changes made before switching images? If not, that would be a useful feature.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLightroom 5 today suddenly switched to dutch, even though in teh preferences screen it's still set to english. I can't find a way to switch it back to english. It seems to have done this after I installed the app manager update (which quite frankly is pretty horrid now).
How to get lightroom back to english? I don't want to have to relearn all these technical terms.

When I do so, I notice the colors are quite different than they were just a second ago in the develop module. When I switch back to the develop module, it goes back to the way it looked in the develop module. How might I fix this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently was working with a few files and found that the density and feathering settings cause my files to crash when I use them as selection. Most recently, I had a raster mask at an density of 60%, and I selected that as a marquee, inverted it, and then selected a different mask and deleted it from the mask. Basically trying to isolate an area for masking. The second mask I applied was applied to a group, everything up to this point saved fine. But once I selected the mask, inverted etc. I tried to save and immediately photoshop became unresponsive and would crash. Is this a known bug? It's really frustrating, that the mask properties have lead to issues like this.

- continue this logic of sub-division and density till you finish the second row.
- when you finish you should have a row of 5 squares movies from tighter density to lighter density of lines from left to right.
i got past the 2nd cell, sort of stuck on the 3rd, 4th, 5th (going from right to left) how the next three cells would look like (on the second column)
Is there a way to increase / decrease the mesh density of a 3D model in Photoshop CS6 for export? I've searched within PS and on the web, and I'm not finding any way to do this.
