I am shooting Infrared pictures and I already missed the channel mix function in LR3. Now I saw in the video of LR4 Beta that now the channels can be modified individually but I miss a channel mix function.
Is it possible with LR4 to flip red and blue channel, like it is needed for color Infraed photography, or do I still need to work with PS or PSE ?
does anyone know how to make an Infra red effect like this? or the tutorial about colour infra red photoshop? .....

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis problem is specifically related to using LR & PS to process Infrared images.I am having problems processing Infrared Images when using LR & PS. I take my IR images with a 530 IR conversion to a Canon G12 camera. I learned early on Adobe products don't play well with IR images (they come in magenta when importing ) so I bring IR images shot withmy G12 into my computer with Canon Digital Photo Professional and then work in LR & PS from there.
If I then directly open this imported image from my hard drive into Photoshop and try and do adjustments such as blue sky adjustments with a red/blue channel swap, it works fine, just as I would expect.(If you are not familiar with IR processing, I understand this introduction and question will not make sense).But when using Lightroom, I sometimes have issues. I always import all my images into LR. Even with IR images, after using DPP to bring them to my computer, I import them into LR for cataloging purposes and to make other potential adjustments. Then my usual workflow is to move photos from LR to Photoshop via the "edit in" command. This opens a dialog box giving a choice of "edit a copy with LR adjustments" which is the default option and the one I always use, or "edit original".
Here's the interesting thing I finally discovered.If I send the photo from LR to PS using the "edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments" option, I get a bad blue sky effect, where the sky is green and the foliage is pink instead of the sky being blue and the foliage yellow. But if I send it to PS using the "edit original" option, the blue sky effect works fine.So there appears to be an issue when tring to send IR images from Lightroom to Photoshop.
I;m hooked on Infrared and have a Canon XT and a couple of older Canon Point & Shoot converted to IR, I would love to see th same cumtom WB image that I see on the back of the camera. I've started capturing in both RAW +JPG in hopes the jpg will show the settings. I'm importing to show as separate files.
Is there a way to keep LR from changing the bluish tone of a 590 nm supercolor IR sensor image to magenta?
Is there a filter or preset or develop setting I can use to just maintain the original color quality of the JPG?
I had subsctibed to the single program verion of CC early last year and purchased LR5 as soon as it was available, long before the Photography Bundle was introduced. Now I have no need for LR5 licence. Is there a way to unregister the program and have everything under CC? I have no need to install on 4 machines. Possibly transfer the LR licence?

I have two flips in there, one verticle, one horizontal. For some reason, whenever I tell it to flip, and then select everything in the block, it doesn't flip the other flip's arrow.
Then, when I created the second arrow, and went back to include the first flip in the second flip's Action Selection Set, it doesn't pick it up. Doesn't matter if I do "modify selection set" or "new selection set"... doesn't matter if I select everything within (blue box) or everything that touches (green box).
Yet, when I highlight the icon box, it shows everything is selected.
Can flips not flip other flips?
Additionally, I want the rotation parameter to flip on the horizontal flip (so it stays outside the block), but I can't get that into the selection either.
What am I missing with these selection parameters?

I'd like to process IR photos in Elements or an add on program. Kolari has a Infrared False Color program compatable with Photoshop CS but I am unable to open it in Elements. I emailed Kolari and their reply said the program was compatible with Elements but could not tell me how to apply it. As an alternative is there an add on software I can purchase?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I do a horizontal flip of my image in the Develop module of Lightroom 4.1 and then go to the Print module and apply a text watermark, it displays correctly on the screen. However, when I print to jpeg and then open the jpeg file, the watermark has flipped horizontally. It displays as mirror image text and has moved from the lower right to the lower left of the image. And, yes, the image is still flipped as it should be. Is this a bug? For now I will do the flip external to Lightroom.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am a screen printer and I print my separations from Photoshop. I routinely work with multi channel files or RGB files with additional spot color channels. I have created actions to place my registration marks, re-size images, etc to get ready to print but I manually have to create the text labels for each screen if they are missing from the original artwork.
The files I work with have channels named as "Base White, Red, Green, 284 Blue" etc indicating the ink color. What i would like to be able to do is click an action that would copy the text from the channel name and insert it into a separate or each/all channels near the top of the file so that when I print each positive it has a corresponding label for ink color.
I am not sure if this is even possible, and I am limited on my knowledge when it comes to actions and have pretty much got lucky in the past getting them to do what I want without unnecessary steps.
On my registration target action it creates a new channel with each individual reg mark then combines them into one separate channel in which I just copy the contents and select all the ink channels and fill with black to make them appear, i'm happy with the steps it takes as it isn't too much trouble and if this could do the same with labels I would be happy with that.
Just made sure updates for the video card and all the hardware were current and still getting this problem where when I go to adjust a channel of video a random frame from the below channel will insert itself into the clip that I just moved as if it was married into the source footage.

I have a NEC PA241W monitor and FirePro 5800 graphics card at my workplace --> which work well with 30 Bit color depth in Adobe PS CS5.0.4.
Since Lightroom 4 requires an "OpenGL 2.0" compatible graphics card it's obvious, that OpenGL is used now (I think LR3 didn't..?). If LR4 is able to handle 30(48) bit color depth(?)
Blue looks purple in Lightroom 4.
When viewed in Photoshop or Zoombrowser the blue looks ok.
When clicking on the bottom right icon of the point curve, I can´t get to the channel selector in LR4.2.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently built a PC for photo editing, and I am receiving the BSOD at different points when Lightroom is open. The first time it happened was when I was moving about 1000 raw files from one folder to another (did it twice to me doing that). From there, I grabbed the latest video card driver from Nvidia, and I also went into the bios and set my memory back to "Auto" rather than 1600 (which is what it's rated for). Thought maybe it was hardware related. Everything was going fine, I did some editing, and then while it was just sitting there with LR3 open, I got the BSOD again.
Here is what I'm running:
CPU - i7 3.4ghz 2600k
Mobo - Asus P8Z68-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z68

Recently, I updated my LR3 to LR4.3 and my camera from Olympus EP2 to OMD. So, I am not sure if any of these factors play a role but, I started having severe banding on photos taken in vivid sunny day with a blue sky. I am not an advanced LR user and, my process of developing photos in LR has always been pretty simple. First, I export RAW format pictures from a card to a hard drive. Then, I do some adjustments and make two jpeg copies from each RAW file.
One copy I in Export dialog box File Settings as a JPEG, Color Space sRGB, 100% quality and another copy I export for web so, I limit to some minimum size without setting any quality reductions.
Again, in the Export dialog box -> File Setting -> check (checkbox) Limit File Size to 300KB to 1MB. In this sample case, file was farely large so, LR did not allow me to save this file in less than 950KB. URL....
Am reading Kelby's LR 5 book page 162 + Cannot see any place where I can click to see the individual channels adjustment pop up to select chanel. He even has it circled in the illustration but I don't have anything like that in the Tone Curve panel What am I missing, I'm in Win 64K
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn order to retain a wider gamut, I'd like to export a .raw file as a multichannel image (psd or any other file type to be opened in photoshop). Those channels should be e.g. c, m, y, k and two spot colours. As far as I understand, this can't be done from within photoshop, since an image presently in rgb can only be converted to a cmy mulitchannel image.
Would you achieve this by exporting the .raw from lightroom setting a colour space (under file settings) that contains such six print colours? And if yes, how ywould I produce such a colour space (that, if I understand correctly, must be present as a file itself, to be selected instead of the default choice between sRGB, Adobe RGB (1998), and ProPhoto RGB)? Or if there is another way to obtain such wider gamut image of more than cmyk.
When I edit my photos, anything that I try to darken, turns blue. All of the blacks turn blue. It didn't used to do that. What am I doing wrong?
