Lightroom :: 4 - Infrared Photography / Flip Red And Blue Channel?

Jan 11, 2012

I am shooting Infrared pictures and I already missed the channel mix function in LR3. Now I saw in the video of LR4 Beta that now the channels can be modified individually but I miss a channel mix function.

Is it possible with LR4 to flip red and blue channel, like it is needed for color Infraed photography, or do I still need to work with PS or PSE ?

Photoshop :: Create Action To Copy Channel Name Text And Insert Into Channel In CS5?

Jul 26, 2013

I am a screen printer and I print my separations from Photoshop. I routinely work with multi channel files or RGB files with additional spot color channels. I have created actions to place my registration marks, re-size images, etc to get ready to print but I manually have to create the text labels for each screen if they are missing from the original artwork.

The files I work with have channels named as "Base White, Red, Green, 284 Blue" etc indicating the ink color. What i would like to be able to do is click an action that would copy the text from the channel name and insert it into a separate or each/all channels near the top of the file so that when I print each positive it has a corresponding label for ink color.

I am not sure if this is even possible, and I am limited on my knowledge when it comes to actions and have pretty much got lucky in the past getting them to do what I want without unnecessary steps.

On my registration target action it creates a new channel with each individual reg mark then combines them into one separate channel in which I just copy the contents and select all the ink channels and fill with black to make them appear, i'm happy with the steps it takes as it isn't too much trouble and if this could do the same with labels I would be happy with that.

Photoshop :: Cannot Print True Blue Colors It Will Only Print Same Shades Of Violet / Blue?

Jul 28, 2011

I'm running Windows 7 64Bit running Adobe CS5 Master Collection. But ever since I allowed CS5 Photoshop to control my printer (HP Photosmart Prem 310-C) to do a test print of a graphic that I created all of my Blues print a violet/blue color, no matter what color blue. It has even affected MS Word & MS Project when I try to print blue colored font or Gantt Chart blues will no longer print blue, but will print the same blue/violet color. I've even tried a brilliant blue which will all view great, but prints the same shade of violet blue! All my colors and Blues will view great! I've calibrated my monitor and I've reset my printer several times and still the same thing! I never had this problem before I downloaded Adobe CS5! A strange thing is that I can run check printer test and the data & image that is stored in the printer will print blues perfect, including running a copy direct from the scanner bed and it will produce perfect blues. I almost feel as though Adobe CS5 has possessed my PC and printer, how do I get it back to printing like it did before installing CS5 Master Suite?

Photoshop :: Filtering And Enhancement Of Old Image

Dec 22, 2012

I have a question that relates to a digital image that is of an old original B/W photograph.

The image is of an old, plain page of a book found by Police some 65 years ago, in it's orginal form the police had noticed what appeared to be indentations or very feint writing on this page and used graphite powder to highlight their findings and then went over the highlighted areas with what appears to be an early felt tip pen. This was then photographed and an image produced.

The intial image itself is quite small about 400 X 400 px.

It shows 5 lines of hand written characters with additional hand drawn lines.

Here is an example of a close up of the 'sharp end' of the two crossed lines in the centre of the page:

Here is that image reversed:

When I examined the image in more detail I noticed that the actual characters and lines were not simply black markings but in fact had various shades ranging from grey through to black within them.

I turned the image negative and it showed up what appeared to be smaller letters and numbers behind the initial blackened markings and lines. I have done some basic filtering and have managed to improve on the appearance but only a little.

The questions I have are these:

1. Are these real markings or are they some kind of digital noise? Most of the letters and lines on this page show signs of letters and words beneath the drawn over markings. (I have done a lot of research about micrography and such miniature writing does and did exist at the time and in fact has been around for 4000 years or more)

2. Is it possible for me to 'strip away' further layers of lighter coloured pixels to sharpen the markings that appear to lie beneath the overdrawn characters and lines?

3. This being so, what steps or processes can be used to achieve better clarity and hopefully a larger image.

I hope I got that right and it makes at least some sort of sense

Photoshop :: Filtering Selection By Cluster Size

Feb 14, 2013

I have an artwork that eventually be used for laser cutting. The artwork was created by Illustrator. I would like to identify very small cuts so I can eliminate them. My thinking is that it will be easier to do the analysis after rasterizing the artwork and use Photoshop for the job.I was thinking to select by color the color that marks holes (white). This will yield a selection of multiple regions (clusters). Now I would like to filter out (or in) all the clusters that meet some size criteria (contains less than X number of pixels, or that the perimeter size is more or less a value) in order to identify the small clusters.

Photoshop :: Layer Filtering Activates When Working On Shapes

Jul 17, 2013

so, first off, am using photoshop CC on windows 8,

here's my question: they improved the layer filtering option to photoshop cc which is great, but it's activated by ctrl+double clicking, since i do vectors in photoshop i use ctrl+clicking to select shapes and move points, so when am working on my vectors and moving fast, i always activate and deactivate the layer filtering option,  which is very annoying, i cant work as fast as i did in cs6, any way to change the shortcut or activation method for this option?

what i have notices so far is that when you ctrl+doubleclick on the path of a shape is switches filters that layer. so then i have to turn of the layer filtering thing to find my other laye

plase plase plase, how can i deactivate completelly this option, i have a lot of work to do and this is annoying me sooooo much.

I have an issue where filtering my framing member schedules per Level by, for example, Level equals LEVEL 3 causes the entire schedule to be filtered to empty.  We clearly have members constrained to and occuring on LEVEL 3.

The same happens when filtering for, say, at or above LEVEL 3, but interestingly not at or below LEVEL 3, in which case nothing happens -- that is, it still displays members clearly occuring only on and constrained to Reference LEVEL 5.

It basically filters any jaggies on a bitmap image. Is there any existing plugin for Paint.NET or are maybe there any plans for such thing? I'd need it to filter out some images made in MS Paint using simple lines. But they are very jaggy and using any other method didn't really give me any decent results.

Lightroom :: Filtering By File Size?

Mar 8, 2012

I was *so* hoping that we'd finally be able to filter (or create a Smart Collection) based upon file size.

There are many reasons why this would be useful but the thing that trips me up every once in a while is that I'll forget to flatten my layers in Photoshop and the resulting tiff could be over 500 MB! Everyone once in a while I'll manually find the large files, flatten the layers, then re-import them into LR - in the specific case I mentioned the file was reduced to 17MB.

AutoCAD :: Filtering Property Set Definitions In Tables?

Aug 14, 2012

On my Property Set Definitions I have a attribute table called "ROOM_NO". This is where I enter the full number/character of the room, in my case the value usually looks like "101A", and sometimes "A101B" for Room number.

I was asked to do another table to separate the fields.

ROOM_PREFIX  ROOM_NUM.     ROOM_SUFFIX.

Separating the room number in 3 attribute tables to "A 101 B"

I was thinking referencing the ROOM_NO table in each box and filtering out the numbers and character. For example in ROOM_PREFIX I would reference ROOM_NO and filter out the number and the suffix letter through a formula. And in ROOM_NUM I would Filter both alphabetical character.

how to write such formula?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Layer Filter Not Filtering

Jan 16, 2013

I'm having issues with Civ3d 2013. I pushed off upgrading because of the format change and the service pack release. I was hoping little glitches would be fixed. Here are the  a couple of glitches to date that I saw no resolution to in the long list of threads.

1. Layer filters do not filter, unless I have checked "Apply filter to toolbar". The problem is, I don't want to apply them to the toolbar.

2. Publishing to PDF - when set to lines merge (set in the page layout and the publish setting), the wipe outs don't work, and the background masks on leaders makes a faint border around the text in the PDF. When set to overwrite, to get the wipeouts to not print to the PDF as a big black blob, they have to be on a layer set to color 255. I can work around most of the wipeouts, except for dimensions because the background mask doesn't seem to take.

another complaint that doesn't have anything to do with AutoCAD, but since I'm venting... we just got a KIP 7100 printer/scanner. WORST printer/scanner we've ever had. Period. Getting the right driver, then getting the driver to produce good drawings to the correct paper size was ridiculous, and the gray shades still look like we're using a big dot matrix printer. Scanning is the most painful thing; compared to the Xerox 6204 we gave up, the quality is poor and PDF file sizes are huge.

Lightroom :: Filtering Library By Collection Status

Apr 2, 2014

I've been using LR for adjusting photos for about 6-8 years now, but have just recently gotten time to start better organizing my stuff. I have about 40,000 images that mostly have keywords and descriptive file names, but are generally without ratings, color labels and are mostly not in collections. I must admit that there's a lot of junk in there (duplicates, mostly) that I have to purge. I can probably work it down to 10,000 images. In addition to putting ratings and labels on things, I want to sort them into collections, but that task would be easier if I knew which images were NOT in collections so I could concentrate on them and work that set down. I don't see a way to set up smart collections to show images that are not in a collection. It appears that the smart collection criteria can be selected from whatever text selection criteria are available, and I don't see inclusion in a collection as one of them. I also don't see collection status as one of the metadata items that could be used to filter things.

In a previous thread from 2007 I found the following workaround:

Clear the quick collection and set it to the target collection. In the library view, select all the collections. Select all the photos.Go to the catalog and view all photos. In the Edit menu, click on "invert selection".That selects all the images not in a collection. Pressing B puts them in the quick collection.

The only problem with this is that when you select an image from the quick collection and place it in a collection the image remains in the quick collection. In a smart collection filtered by collection status (not in a collection) it would disappear from the smart collection when it goes into a collection. So it would be much nicer if there were a way to filter for "not in a collection" for a smart collection or even in a metadata filter.

The above workaround does work, but you will have to refresh the quick collection whenever you lose track of which images you have placed into a collection.

Of course, the best solution would be not to get into my position in the first place. Always dump the junk out of the catalog and place all the keepers in appropriate collections.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Filtering Grade Break Labels?

May 18, 2012

I've got a drawing in which the existing ground is so jaggedy that I've got way too many grade breaks (see the attached image).  I know I can use the weeding and eliminate the labels every 50 feet, or so, along the profile.  But I need to have the ability to only show a specific grade break range.  For instance, I'd like for my profile only to display grade breaks between 0% and 2% and not to display anything above 2%. I've tried making an expression, but have been hitting brick walls.  I also know I can manually (use the CTRL + click) select the specific labels that I don't want and erase them, but I've got lots of these labels. Any LISP routine or an expression that can accomplish this?  [URL]
