View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a question that relates to a digital image that is of an old original B/W photograph.
The image is of an old, plain page of a book found by Police some 65 years ago, in it's orginal form the police had noticed what appeared to be indentations or very feint writing on this page and used graphite powder to highlight their findings and then went over the highlighted areas with what appears to be an early felt tip pen. This was then photographed and an image produced.
The intial image itself is quite small about 400 X 400 px.
It shows 5 lines of hand written characters with additional hand drawn lines.
Here is an example of a close up of the 'sharp end' of the two crossed lines in the centre of the page:
Here is that image reversed:
When I examined the image in more detail I noticed that the actual characters and lines were not simply black markings but in fact had various shades ranging from grey through to black within them.
I turned the image negative and it showed up what appeared to be smaller letters and numbers behind the initial blackened markings and lines. I have done some basic filtering and have managed to improve on the appearance but only a little.
The questions I have are these:
1. Are these real markings or are they some kind of digital noise? Most of the letters and lines on this page show signs of letters and words beneath the drawn over markings. (I have done a lot of research about micrography and such miniature writing does and did exist at the time and in fact has been around for 4000 years or more)
2. Is it possible for me to 'strip away' further layers of lighter coloured pixels to sharpen the markings that appear to lie beneath the overdrawn characters and lines?
3. This being so, what steps or processes can be used to achieve better clarity and hopefully a larger image.
I hope I got that right and it makes at least some sort of sense
how to filter out certain channels. I have an image that's a little too blue and I want to balance out the colors a bit more.

I want it to always be off but can't find out if that's possible. I continually have to disable it manually when it hides layers I need and it's getting frustrating.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an artwork that eventually be used for laser cutting. The artwork was created by Illustrator. I would like to identify very small cuts so I can eliminate them. My thinking is that it will be easier to do the analysis after rasterizing the artwork and use Photoshop for the job.I was thinking to select by color the color that marks holes (white). This will yield a selection of multiple regions (clusters). Now I would like to filter out (or in) all the clusters that meet some size criteria (contains less than X number of pixels, or that the perimeter size is more or less a value) in order to identify the small clusters.

here's my question: they improved the layer filtering option to photoshop cc which is great, but it's activated by ctrl+double clicking, since i do vectors in photoshop i use ctrl+clicking to select shapes and move points, so when am working on my vectors and moving fast, i always activate and deactivate the layer filtering option, which is very annoying, i cant work as fast as i did in cs6, any way to change the shortcut or activation method for this option?
what i have notices so far is that when you ctrl+doubleclick on the path of a shape is switches filters that layer. so then i have to turn of the layer filtering thing to find my other laye
plase plase plase, how can i deactivate completelly this option, i have a lot of work to do and this is annoying me sooooo much.
I would like new functionality on handling tags for filtering/searching photos (as a replacement of the `advanced search`)
The goal is, to use the same Tag-structure to tag photos and also to filter them (most likely as you could do that with PSE 9 ) .
I don't want this `advanced search` window, that takes a lot of space - I want to see my photos, not a hug program border..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an issue where filtering my framing member schedules per Level by, for example, Level equals LEVEL 3 causes the entire schedule to be filtered to empty. We clearly have members constrained to and occuring on LEVEL 3.
The same happens when filtering for, say, at or above LEVEL 3, but interestingly not at or below LEVEL 3, in which case nothing happens -- that is, it still displays members clearly occuring only on and constrained to Reference LEVEL 5.
I've got some 2D contours that have certain vertices very close to each other in some parts of the string. Some are only 0.008 apart. The cross checking in Drawing cleanup is picking these all up as crossing strings.
anything that will possibly filter out these vertices at a set tolerance? I've tried using Snap clustered nodes but that won't work seen as though it is occurring on the same string.
You probably know what Morphological filtering is. If you don't, here is an example:

It basically filters any jaggies on a bitmap image. Is there any existing plugin for Paint.NET or are maybe there any plans for such thing? I'd need it to filter out some images made in MS Paint using simple lines. But they are very jaggy and using any other method didn't really give me any decent results.
I was *so* hoping that we'd finally be able to filter (or create a Smart Collection) based upon file size.
There are many reasons why this would be useful but the thing that trips me up every once in a while is that I'll forget to flatten my layers in Photoshop and the resulting tiff could be over 500 MB! Everyone once in a while I'll manually find the large files, flatten the layers, then re-import them into LR - in the specific case I mentioned the file was reduced to 17MB.
On my Property Set Definitions I have a attribute table called "ROOM_NO". This is where I enter the full number/character of the room, in my case the value usually looks like "101A", and sometimes "A101B" for Room number.
I was asked to do another table to separate the fields.
ROOM_PREFIX ROOM_NUM. ROOM_SUFFIX.
Separating the room number in 3 attribute tables to "A 101 B"
I was thinking referencing the ROOM_NO table in each box and filtering out the numbers and character. For example in ROOM_PREFIX I would reference ROOM_NO and filter out the number and the suffix letter through a formula. And in ROOM_NUM I would Filter both alphabetical character.
how to write such formula?
I'm having issues with Civ3d 2013. I pushed off upgrading because of the format change and the service pack release. I was hoping little glitches would be fixed. Here are the a couple of glitches to date that I saw no resolution to in the long list of threads.
1. Layer filters do not filter, unless I have checked "Apply filter to toolbar". The problem is, I don't want to apply them to the toolbar.
2. Publishing to PDF - when set to lines merge (set in the page layout and the publish setting), the wipe outs don't work, and the background masks on leaders makes a faint border around the text in the PDF. When set to overwrite, to get the wipeouts to not print to the PDF as a big black blob, they have to be on a layer set to color 255. I can work around most of the wipeouts, except for dimensions because the background mask doesn't seem to take.
another complaint that doesn't have anything to do with AutoCAD, but since I'm venting... we just got a KIP 7100 printer/scanner. WORST printer/scanner we've ever had. Period. Getting the right driver, then getting the driver to produce good drawings to the correct paper size was ridiculous, and the gray shades still look like we're using a big dot matrix printer. Scanning is the most painful thing; compared to the Xerox 6204 we gave up, the quality is poor and PDF file sizes are huge.
Every single time I move an image it filters, I have to copy the image to MSPaint and then copy it back to Paint.NET to make sure it isn't filtered, it's so annoying.
Is any way to stop the images from filtering?
I have a Multi-Category Schedule and using certain fields it shows me Furniture, Toilet Assoc., Plumbing Fixturers, etc. All I want the Schedule to show is Furniture and Furniture Systems together in one schedule. When going to the Filter I choose Category>Equals>Furniture Systems and Category>Equals>Furniture. Assuming that the schdule would filter out everything else and only show items from the Furniture Systems Category and the Furniture Category. Instead it shows me nothing, eveything disappears. Its as if it is looking for a Catgory that is botn Furnitue Sysems and Furiture as one. I can do each Category individualy and its fine but I can't Filter by both? How can I get this scheudle to just show me Furniture and Funiture Systems? is their an update to correct a bug in the software that will fix this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using LR for adjusting photos for about 6-8 years now, but have just recently gotten time to start better organizing my stuff. I have about 40,000 images that mostly have keywords and descriptive file names, but are generally without ratings, color labels and are mostly not in collections. I must admit that there's a lot of junk in there (duplicates, mostly) that I have to purge. I can probably work it down to 10,000 images. In addition to putting ratings and labels on things, I want to sort them into collections, but that task would be easier if I knew which images were NOT in collections so I could concentrate on them and work that set down. I don't see a way to set up smart collections to show images that are not in a collection. It appears that the smart collection criteria can be selected from whatever text selection criteria are available, and I don't see inclusion in a collection as one of them. I also don't see collection status as one of the metadata items that could be used to filter things.
In a previous thread from 2007 I found the following workaround:
Clear the quick collection and set it to the target collection. In the library view, select all the collections. Select all the photos.Go to the catalog and view all photos. In the Edit menu, click on "invert selection".That selects all the images not in a collection. Pressing B puts them in the quick collection.
The only problem with this is that when you select an image from the quick collection and place it in a collection the image remains in the quick collection. In a smart collection filtered by collection status (not in a collection) it would disappear from the smart collection when it goes into a collection. So it would be much nicer if there were a way to filter for "not in a collection" for a smart collection or even in a metadata filter.
The above workaround does work, but you will have to refresh the quick collection whenever you lose track of which images you have placed into a collection.
Of course, the best solution would be not to get into my position in the first place. Always dump the junk out of the catalog and place all the keepers in appropriate collections.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a drawing in which the existing ground is so jaggedy that I've got way too many grade breaks (see the attached image). I know I can use the weeding and eliminate the labels every 50 feet, or so, along the profile. But I need to have the ability to only show a specific grade break range. For instance, I'd like for my profile only to display grade breaks between 0% and 2% and not to display anything above 2%. I've tried making an expression, but have been hitting brick walls. I also know I can manually (use the CTRL + click) select the specific labels that I don't want and erase them, but I've got lots of these labels. Any LISP routine or an expression that can accomplish this? [URL]
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have made up furniture for layout views using the metric detail item template. Probably too many in this model category but it was a short cut to achieving presentation layouts. How can I now filter out certain detail items without zapping the rest. In this case it will be loose furniture but some fixed furniture is needed to remain visible in the next stage construction layout views. I want to do this by view template so that a) the view on sheet can be switched back to the presentation layout and b) keep the sheet as a revision rather than a new sheet.
Its not my preferred way of dong this but I am adapting to another architectural practices standard where sheet numbers are fixed and the layouts (GA's) retain the same number through sketch - tender - construction - as built stages (using a status sheet parameter and revision sequence)
I'm having a problem making paper size filtering 'stick'.
For years I've configured PC3 and their associated PMP files for each of our printers and plotters. As a part of the configuration, I filter out all the paper sizes we don't use. Once the PC3 and PMP files are configured, they're copied to all the local PC's. I've never had a problem with this, until now.
On the PC where the PC3 file is configured, the filtering is correct. On any other PC, various paper sizes are added. For instance, I'll filter out all paper sizes on printer "X" except for 8.5x11 and 11x17. On a similar PC, the paper sizes "16k 197x273mm" and "8k 273x394mm" are added.
If I point the PC's to a location on our network where the PC3 and PMP files are stored, I get the same results.
We have two OS's here - Win7 Pro and XP Pro. All OS's are kept up-to-date. All the Win7 PC's use the same version of the HP Universal Print Driver. All the XP PC's use the same version of the printer specific drivers.

in LR3 folder panel if I wanted to filter missing photos or smart collection for selected folder-s, it was possible by crtl+click on a folder to see the selection in the grid which I used quite often. Now it no longer works. I wonder why it's not possible with LR4.

View 5 Replies View Relatedhow to work with safearrays so that I can modify a dynamic block property reporting tool that I found here on the forums. I’d like to take the following code and filter out the extraneous properties so that the user doesn’t get information overload. Here’s the code that I'm starting with – works nicely:
(defun c:dbinfo (/ obj v vval sal salnth count)
(setq obj (vlax-ename->vla-object (car (entsel "
Select Dynamic Block: "))))
(setq v (vla-getdynamicblockproperties obj))
(setq vval (vlax-variant-value v))
[code]....
So, how do I filter the safearray list (down two levels to property names) so I can remove origins and other unimportant properties? Here’s the two property names I am trying to filter out:
(or (= (car y) "Origin") (= (substr (car y) 1 8) "Position"))
I’m beating my head against the wall trying to figure out how to take sal and redefine it like:
(/= (or (= (car y) "Origin") (= (substr (car y) 1 8) "Position")))
Of course, that doesn't work with a safearray.
I'm trying to find a way of filtering the 'work in progress' section visibilities from a plan by view filters. The filter I use is 'Sheet Name' equal '<None>'. Then turning off visibility. It works when used in the Browser organisation filters but not in the view filter for the sheets.
I don't want to create a check box or dialogue box for the sheet as this will add to the required maintenance.
I don;t know what happen with this piece of code, I have checked it a million of times and seems to be well done. I'm trying to filter a previous selection and select Text or Mtext objects that are in the layer COTREF, and that contain the strings "%%c" AND "L" at the same time. The problem is that the code it's not selecting objects with the "L" included.
Here's the
(setq grupo1 (ssget "" '((0 . "TEXT,MTEXT")(8 . "COTREF")(-4 . "<AND")(1 . "*%%c*")(1 . "*L*")(-4 . "AND>"))))
The most unreasonable thing it's that I have 2 text objects exactly the same and when using this filter codes just one object it's selected (cyan cloud), check included DWG file.
I'v been searching about it and seems some persons are having problems with ssget filters in the newer versions of AutoCAD, I'm using 2012. I'm also suspecting for the character "%" which could be working as a wild-card, but as far as I know it is not.
