GIMP :: How To Colorize Image

Jun 17, 2013

I am having trouble colorizing a greyscale image. I actually did manage to do it earlier but can't remember how I did it. See attached the greyscale original image and the colorized pink image that I had created earlier. I tried inverting and colorizing but I can't seem to find the right setting. I also tried to create a pink layer and change the blend mode to color.

AutoCad :: Drawings With Transparency To Adobe (both PDF And InDesign)

Apr 10, 2011

For presentations I usually print my AutoCAD files to pdf and then import those into InDesign - worked well enough, but I had not had the transparency function in AutoCAD turned on, so the drawings lacked that feature. Now I'm saving with the transparency setting on in AutoCAD. My test prints of the straight pdf files do work, but they take a l-o-n-g time to print. Am worried that when I import them into InDesign it will slow down that process as well (I recently had one drawing that inexplicably hung up at the plotter all together and wonder now if transparency from an imported file was the problem). I don't need to keep the transparency live through InDesign. What's the best way to set up that import process? Do things need to be flattened, and if so, at what point?

I should amend this by noting that I mean flattening in the graphic design flatten-the-transparency sense, not in the 3d-to-2d CAD sense. All the drawings are 2D......

Photoshop :: Combine Monotone Image Onto Gray Scale Image To Use In Indesign File

Nov 13, 2012

I'm trying to combine a monotone image onto a grayscale image to use in my Indesign file. The whole job has to print two colors.

How can I easily make the diaper a PMS color and add it to the grayscale baby and still maintain two colors (PMS + K)

Right now, I'm cheating and combining the PMS diaper onto the grayscale baby in Indesign..... but I really need to have this in Photoshop so I can add shadows to make it more convincing. I tried converting the grayscale to CMYK and deleting all channels but black, didn't work as it took away all the information from the image.

See image below.

GIMP :: How To Batch Colorize Images

May 11, 2012

I am starting a decal business and i have jpg's of all the decal designs in black on a white background. I need to batch colorize a bunch of images, i figured out how to do it individually and save but i need to colorize all the images in a folder and save with a different name. i found a great script to batch convert jpgs to pngs, and am trying to edit it to work.

i think just the line in red needs to be written correctly.

(define (colorize it DirectoryName)
(let*
(
(fileExtension ".jpg") ; we are looking for .jpg files
(varFileList (cadr (file-glob (string-append DirectoryName DIR-SEPARATOR "*" fileExtension) 1) ) ) ; find them all

GIMP :: How To Colorize Graphic Correctly

Oct 29, 2013

i have this black and white graphic below.

And I would like to change the white background to a particular shade of colour, say pink. Now because I'm not 100% sure how to do this I've just been using the paint bucket fill tool to change the colour. But as you can see below, that is not 100% correct as the shades of black that make up the graphic do not "add" to make up pink shades.

I would like the result to be this:

I know I have to use something under the "Colors" menu but am not sure where to begin.

GIMP :: Changing Colors With Colorize?

Jun 28, 2013

Somebody want me to edit their picture where an orange tank top has to be changed for a dark blue color. That person did provide the specific HTML code # for the color wanted. Once the tank top is selected, how do you manage to colorize it to that very specific HTML color. Unless I'm wrong, "colorize" is the only function that add color to something without losing the detail of the original picture. All other thing you can use to change the color only add a solid opaque color. You can desaturate the tank top, open a new layer and add the specific HTML color to that layer and then reduce the opacity but...even thought the details that were lost are now visible, the color has changed.

GIMP :: How To Set Colorize To Have Certain Part End Up At Given Color

Photoshop :: Colorize Setting For Specific Color?

Apr 20, 2013

Occasionally I select part of an image, apply a hue/sat adj layer, check colorize and attempt to re-create an RGB color on that selection....but it all seems to be trial and error, hunt and peck method of moving HSL sliders or entering numbers.

I tried matching the "numbers" to an HSL equivalent of the desired RGB color but not much better/faster desired results.

I realize the image has a range of tonal values so hitting the exact number overall is not do-able using this method, nor is it the goal (otherwise a simple paint bucket fill would work). But at least somewhere in the selection image I'd want to be sure my color is very close.

I tried using eye dropper color sample spots (up to 4), which works, but the process is slow and fiddly.

My goal is to be able to re-color/colorize part of an image to match an RGB sample color, yet leave the tonal range in the image still looking like it is part of the scene; including shadows and highlights and midtones.

AutoCad 3D :: How To Colorize / Hatch Individual Faces Or Features Of Solid

Oct 20, 2013

I have been tasked with making a feature/hole chart for a complex cast & machined part.

What the quality engineers want is color-coding of the actual features to denote which machining operation they are cut in. It's intended to be a quick reference for the machine operators to identify if there has been a missed operation, broken tool, etc...

What I have done in the past with simpler parts is import the .stp file, then FLATSHOT each of the views. I HATCH (solid) the boundary of the machined feature, then add the hatch pattern to a layer for the appropriate OP number. Callouts are added to the layout in paper space, and it's released for issue.

The problem with the new parts that I am working with is that they are MUCH more complex than the others I have done (50-60 machined features, complex compound shapes and curves, etc...), so using FLATSHOT results in many, many broken boundaries and edges. This has made editing them to get HATCH to work exponentially more tedious and time consuming.

I've tried to hatch by picking internal points rather than by manually selecting boundaries, but it takes 5-10 minutes for my machine to finish "analyzing the selected data" and almost universally fails to generate a hatch. When it does work, the hatch is incomplete, due to curves and angles in the machined surface.

The above method does work, but it's causing me to neglect other projects due to the time required. Any (comparatively) simple/easy way to accomplish this directly on the 3d solid of the part to speed things up.

I am using Inventor suite 2008, but I am not well versed with Inventor or the 3d capabilities of AutoCAD. I use Mechanical Desktop 2008 for the majority of my CAD work.

Photoshop :: Image Transparency

Sep 10, 2004

I am creating an effect from a freeze video frame. The clip is of a Kite Boarder at the apex of his jump. I have cropped the boarder from the image saved it (so normal background but white where the boarder was) and vice versa (an image where the the boarder is visible and the background is white). I wish to make the white areas in each image transparent.

Sounds really easy (and it probably is) but when I load up the images in ImageReady I see the "Transparent" checkbox ticked but I cannot select the colour white as the Matte (it's greyed out). Nor can I select the transparent icon from the color table. Consequently when I save as 24-bit png it doesn't have the white bits as being transparent.

How do I make those white areas transparent (and exportable in png format)?

InDesign :: Clarity Of Image Colors Is Distorted When Placed In Doc

Apr 8, 2014

I have an EPS file that I am placing in Indesign doc. The image looks great in Illustrator, but in InDesign once placed there is a wave pattern to the colours (like an old tv) – not a smooth gradient. Is this a color profile problem? Or issues with how to maintain a vector image quality when importing into indesign? Upon export to PDF, again the EPS file exports fine, but  InDesign export the colors aren't smooth (see sample images). The color is formatted for print (Fogra 39) for both.

changing the working space to setting for print in InDesign. Under “placed content” should keep existing  assignments, enable all profiles, disable all profiles be selected?

Photoshop :: Image Fading To Transparency

I need to make an image fade to transparency for a little projet of mine.

I tried to add a mask to my layer with a gradient [blanc to white] in it, in photoshop it gave the result I wanted, but when I save it as a PNG, the transparency is just not working like in photoshop. (Assuming I use it as an image in a website)

I tried to remove the contour thing, and photoshop see's only two colors [000000 and transparency] so when I open it in a browser, there is simply nothing. If I add a white background for exemple, the image will work, but I need the image to be really transparent so it can merge with my web background.

GIMP :: Image Loses Transparency

*) Open the image "Ok.png" - you'll see there's a small green triangle on the right.
*) Mark and delete a bit of the triangle.
*) Save the image (I checked the 3rd (gamma), the 5th (resolution) and the 6th (time) checkbox).

When I now open the saved image in a different viewer (I use the picasa viewer because this viewer shows the transparent areas nicely), the image is still transparent.

*) Delete the rest of the small green triangle on the right.
*) Save the image.

When you now open it in a different viewer, then suddenly the background isn't transparent anymore. (It's then like the 2nd attached pic - Fail.png)

I've made a PNG image with transparency that looks fine (I see gray checkerboard through the image) when I close it and reopen it in GIMP. But in the Windows 7 picture viewer, all of the transparency looks opaque white. It is also opaque white when I load it into my Android app for use in OpenGL.

I've made PNG images with Inkscape, and they do not have this problem. The transparency looks correct in the Windows picture viewer, and in my Android app.
