GIMP :: Changing Colors With Colorize?

Jun 28, 2013

Somebody want me to edit their picture where an orange tank top has to be changed for a dark blue color. That person did provide the specific HTML code # for the color wanted. Once the tank top is selected, how do you manage to colorize it to that very specific HTML color. Unless I'm wrong, "colorize" is the only function that add color to something without losing the detail of the original picture. All other thing you can use to change the color only add a solid opaque color. You can desaturate the tank top, open a new layer and add the specific HTML color to that layer and then reduce the opacity but...even thought the details that were lost are now visible, the color has changed.

Photoshop :: Craze Curves / Visibility Curves Technique?

Feb 23, 2013

I am preparing a batch of images for test submission, for a stock photo library.Recently a person working for one of the visual effects studios in London happened to tell me that these strict agencies use some set of layers that can separate tonality and color values to check for banding, dirtiness, noise and all those technical flaws that the human eye can't notice on a monitor. He said they perhaps have an action for it so that they can review faster.

He said that it is known as 'Craze Curves' or 'Visibility Curves' technique. He further added that all the studios use it before giving the final files to clients so that there is no issue in printing afterwards. It is sort of a quality control check and has been used by digital and advertising agencies all over the world.

But now his email seems to have changed and I can't get in touch with him to know how to use the technique.

Photoshop :: Colorize Setting For Specific Color?

Apr 20, 2013

Occasionally I select part of an image, apply a hue/sat adj layer, check colorize and attempt to re-create an RGB color on that selection....but it all seems to be trial and error, hunt and peck method of moving HSL sliders or entering numbers.

I tried matching the "numbers" to an HSL equivalent of the desired RGB color but not much better/faster desired results.

I realize the image has a range of tonal values so hitting the exact number overall is not do-able using this method, nor is it the goal (otherwise a simple paint bucket fill would work). But at least somewhere in the selection image I'd want to be sure my color is very close.

I tried using eye dropper color sample spots (up to 4), which works, but the process is slow and fiddly.

My goal is to be able to re-color/colorize part of an image to match an RGB sample color, yet leave the tonal range in the image still looking like it is part of the scene; including shadows and highlights and midtones.

GIMP :: How To Batch Colorize Images

I need to batch colorize a bunch of images, i figured out how to do it individually and save but i need to colorize all the images in a folder and save with a different name. i found a great script to batch convert jpgs to pngs, and am trying to edit it to work.

i think just the line in red needs to be written correctly.

(varFileList (cadr (file-glob (string-append DirectoryName DIR-SEPARATOR "*" fileExtension) 1) ) ) ; find them all

GIMP :: How To Colorize Graphic Correctly

Oct 29, 2013

i have this black and white graphic below.

And I would like to change the white background to a particular shade of colour, say pink. Now because I'm not 100% sure how to do this I've just been using the paint bucket fill tool to change the colour. But as you can see below, that is not 100% correct as the shades of black that make up the graphic do not "add" to make up pink shades.

I would like the result to be this:

I know I have to use something under the "Colors" menu but am not sure where to begin.

AutoCad 3D :: How To Colorize / Hatch Individual Faces Or Features Of Solid

Oct 20, 2013

I have been tasked with making a feature/hole chart for a complex cast & machined part.

What the quality engineers want is color-coding of the actual features to denote which machining operation they are cut in. It's intended to be a quick reference for the machine operators to identify if there has been a missed operation, broken tool, etc...

What I have done in the past with simpler parts is import the .stp file, then FLATSHOT each of the views. I HATCH (solid) the boundary of the machined feature, then add the hatch pattern to a layer for the appropriate OP number. Callouts are added to the layout in paper space, and it's released for issue.

The problem with the new parts that I am working with is that they are MUCH more complex than the others I have done (50-60 machined features, complex compound shapes and curves, etc...), so using FLATSHOT results in many, many broken boundaries and edges. This has made editing them to get HATCH to work exponentially more tedious and time consuming.

I've tried to hatch by picking internal points rather than by manually selecting boundaries, but it takes 5-10 minutes for my machine to finish "analyzing the selected data" and almost universally fails to generate a hatch. When it does work, the hatch is incomplete, due to curves and angles in the machined surface.

The above method does work, but it's causing me to neglect other projects due to the time required. Any (comparatively) simple/easy way to accomplish this directly on the 3d solid of the part to speed things up.

I am using Inventor suite 2008, but I am not well versed with Inventor or the 3d capabilities of AutoCAD. I use Mechanical Desktop 2008 for the majority of my CAD work.

Photoshop :: Masking

Aug 4, 2009

I'm switching from Corel to Adobe and in transition I keep thinking ia have it and then I'm lost again. In CorelPaint, I could mask an area and then use a tool to add to or delete from the mask pixel by pixel or larger areas if I wanted by using a brush. I am REALLY good at it in Corel but can't figure it out yet in Photoshop. I can draw simple masks but not manipulate them.I hope this makes sense. I want to learn adding to and deleting a masked area. I looked at some online searches but here I am. In response to my last posting (another topic) I was directed to some tutorails and got it quickly.

Photoshop :: Pen Tool And Masking In CS6

Aug 5, 2012

In previous versions I could create a custom (vector) mask using the pen tool in 2 easy steps. Draw a shape then drag that shape to the image i wanted the mask on. Done.

This "feature" has been removed from CS6 and its extremely annoying. Or has it just become a lot more complicated to achieve this?

I know i can create a clipping mask using the shape layer but that requires another visible layer in the layers panel. Having "roto'd" 50 elements in previous versions in the same workspace gave me 50 layers (cleaning up the solid black shape layers after). In CS6 it gives me 100 layers.

I know i can select the shape as a selection and then apply a mask but that would make the mask a solid. I want to be able to move my tangents around etc. 100% non-destructively.

I work 100% non destructive and yes, my psd's become very large but thats no biggie, my computer can handle it. I don't want to rasterize.

If you have CS5.5 or earlier versions, create a shape and drag that shape to the layer you want to mask, remove the fill layer and you'll see what i mean. Thats what i want to be able to do in CS6. Is this 100% gone from CS6?

Photoshop :: Masking For Video

Feb 20, 2013

I'm editing a video that contains two shots in which the set had to have black gaff tape around the perimeter of the floor in order to container a pool of liquid in a kitchen (see attached image, yellow arrows added). For budget purposes the scene had to be shot this way instead of allowing the liquid to go wherever and damage the set.

My question is, what is the best/simplest/most effective way to eliminate the tape from the scene and create a new background in its place? Luckily, the shot is entirely static and the tape is not too thick/prominent, so I'm fairly confident it can be done and done well. Unfortunately, I don't have an image from the exact angle without the tape, although I could potentially get one if that would be easier than recreating it in PS. I'm a beginning to intermediate PS user and this is a little above my skill level.

I'm running CS4 on a MacBook Pro. The footage is ProRes 422 which I can export as still images (jpg, png, other) to work on individually in photoshop (assuming this is the best/smartest method). Also, as you can see a character is in the shot and moves some but not a lot. There is a fair bit of the background that will be entirely the same from frame to frame. How best can I automate as much of the process as possible?

I have applied and outerglow and a drop shadow to the text. But, I want that gap to be filled with white and to have no drop shadow as you can see.

How can I achieve that? I assume with some sort of masking? I want to ensure the text can be resized so rasterizing and painting that area white is not an option.

Photoshop :: Photo Masking And Web 2.0

May 14, 2007

The photoshop I am using is CS3.

I was looking into developing my skills of Photo Masking and designing Web 2.0 layouts. With Photo Masking, I have no clue where to start. I've been trying to find some good tutorials but they are quite complicated. I believe it would be easier for me to learn "the action" of adding a powder layer or whatever than to download an action (which I can't find anyway). This would also help my knowledge.

I am thinking of designing a Web 2.0, corporate kind of website for my Dad (who owns a plumbing business.) However, because of his logo, which is an annoying shape and due to the nature of the business, I can't seem to think of any ideas and get started with a general layout before adding the glossy buttons, gradient backgrounds etc.

I think that a long running tutor would be better to help me with the Web 2.0 designing. All in all, it would be awesome for someone to help a budding "aspiring" designer get ahead of the game!

Any cool techniques or effects that you can do would also be awesome to be taught with someone as a tutor, rather than reading a poorly written tutorial!

An example of some work I have done in the past is here (Warning - Contains Partial Nudity). This was the main image of a Div Layer layout I made for somebody as a favour (clearly it is not a corporate website).
