View 2 Replieswith illy cs5.5 I suddenly can't start new files. The dialogue box opens huge and is blank. other windows are also corrupted. I deleted the prefs file with no change.

View 6 Replies View RelatedEvery day at least a dozen times I print spot color separations for film through the print dialogue to pdf, and every single time I have to either print the spot colors one at a time, or open the multipage pdf in Acrobat and use the clunky extract page function to get separate files. Is there any way to just get it to print separate pdfs?
Then I have to rename each sep to have the color in the file name. If there was a way to automate that?

The job is a series of one-page InDesign files (they are newspaper advertisements). The IDD files contain a series of Illustrator files with linked PSD files. The idea is that we can both work on the .idd and .ai files in the same folder at the same time.
It's all working fine EXCEPT that whenever an .ai file is opened on the MacBook, Illustrator doesn't know where the linked PSD files are. We can update the link, but when the .ai file is then opened on the iMac and saved, the same thing happens the next time it is opened on the Macbook.
I don't want to embed the PSD files into the .ai files as sometimes I have to modify them and they can be linked to up to 20 .ai files.
G5 iMac OSX 10.7.5 / Macbook Pro OSX 10.8.2 / networked via FireWire cable / file sharing on, laptop user has Administrator status, all files are read/write, permissions include all enclosed files / CS6
A simple action.
File>Export>.bmpClose
If I run the action on one file, it works perfect.
If I try to run it as a batch, it creates the bmp files fine.
But it also creates either a .ai file, or two .eps files!
Writing one or two extra files signifiantly shows the process down.
After I run the batch it is not hard to simply delete the extra .eps/ai files of course.
But writing those files seriously slows the process down, and I have about 89,000 more files to go.

Whenever he starts Photoshop up, all of his auto recovery files open. For example - when he goes to open a psd of a web design, he will get about 25 files opening with the title "JobName recovered".
I had a meander around the forums looking for possible fixes and information about the Auto Recovery feature, but so far have not been able to cure this ailment.
I have previously disabled the Auto Recovery feature as well as deleting the auto recovery files, yet this was only had a band-aid to amuptation effect. The auto recovery files have reappeared and are now opening again upon start up.
When NEF (raw files) in LR4 are edited, it generates two additional files: tiff and jpg (by "save as"). Later on, when I want to furhter edit those images, how do I start with? Obviously, I could re-edit from history panel of the orignal NEF file or tiff file using CS5. I wonder which approach is more efficient or convenient?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded it. I tried clicking new and put in the size and stuff and this happens...Okay. It says it's there, yes?No. It won't show my blank canvas.
Now if I click on the 'Untitled-1 etc..' and hold it and stuff you can see the canvas, but the second I let it go. It disappears. The same thing goes with opening files. I open them. The thing says its there, but it won't show it. Why does this keep happened? I re-installed it, but still happens.
Windows 7 64 bit.Worked fine until a couple of days ago. Now suddenly the only way I can open files in CC instead of CS6 Extended is if I open PS CC through the icon I had on the taskbar and then use File Open.
When I try to set the file types to open in PS CC, the CC icon no longer appears on the list and if I browse to it and click on the exe file, it opens CS6 instead. Windows Explorer seems to not know it's there and treats it as PS CS6.
I have no idea if there was an update that started this as the CC control panel keeps resetting and I loose the history on it.Minor, but it adds maybe 30 minutes a day which is a problem. I need CS6 installed for the Plug-Ins I use so I can't remove it yet. I'd consider this a meaningful bug.
I have a psd file of some text with special effects applied. I need to do the following steps on the text i have but with different writing for each one:
- edit text - change to what i specify
- save file as a name which i specify.psd
- save file as a name which i specify.jpg
- loop
I have Photoshop 7. Does anyone know which files I could make copies of to replace later in order to keep my settings if I have to do a re-install, instead of having to backup the whole program?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFile-> Open is the only way I can open files with 64-bit.When I clicking icons or right click-> Open With they only open with the 32-bit version. (Even though I've set the default program to 64-bit)
I'm able to open 64 bit by shortcut and it runs very well, about 10 times faster loading time and extremely smoothly for everything I do.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed PSE12 and want it to be the default program to open my jpg files. I know how to set defaults on a PC but the program does not even come up on the list of defaults. I've tried right-click on image and "open with" but no PSE12. If I use Browse and follow the path Program Files (x86)/Adobe/PSE12/PSE Editor.exe, there is no exe file, only the application. If I select PSE Editor, it does not make it the default.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have xref-ed two .dwg files into my drawing. They are on top of each other, and now I want to make horizontal sections from several smaller areas containing both files. However, when I do, all lines turn olive green and I loose the original layer structure (in the section, that is, not the original x-ref).
Is there a way to make these sections and keep the original layers in the sections? I'd rather not use xclip.
1. Is there a plugin available to export files as pdf?
2. How to make a section of a pic transparent. I've spent a couple of hours on this now, and I've searched the documentation section, and I've searched the forums. Most specifically, how do I set a transparent color for a gif? But how do I make an AREA of ANY file transparent? One thing I tried to do was use the "Wet Floor Reflection" plugin, and it requires a transparent area below the existing image. I couldn't do that, either.
After using Elements 12 for a months trial and then uninstalling it, I can no longer find Elements 9 listed when I right click on a picture file and select "open with". How can I restore it to my list of programs with which I can open the file. I'm using Windows 8 which list aps and some other programs but not Elements 9.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere is a serious root problem with Adobe's implemented permissionless-temp-file creation methods (pun intended.) The problem is that during startup, both Bridge and Photoshop CS6 try to make temp files on the root folder of the OS drive. Its affecting many peoples' installations by crashing them on application launch if not run by the super-administrator account on the computer. Adobe says to just run as admin to fix it, which does fix the start up crash. However, for me, it creates a gigantic problem: it breaks OS-to-PS and OS-to-Bridge drag and drop functionality completely!!! I literally was slowed to a crawl in my workflow having to import photos 1 at a time through the file-> open menu because I couldn't drag and drop various files from various locations on my computer. Not everything is clumped in 1 area neatly for Bridge to open everything, and I never realized just how much I used this function until this run as admin band-aid broke it. Eventually I fixed the CS temp location after 10-12 hours of hair pulling research and trial and error, and I finally have Photoshop CS6 working without admin permissions and everything is dandy with drag and drop, but only in PS. Bridge still cannot be run without administrator privileges and cannot have files dropped in or out of it to or from Explorer, and I am getting really frustrated here.
So does anyone else find their drag and drop ability gone once running Bridge/PS CS6 in admin mode? Is there a way to move the default temp creation location of Bridge as well? I'm frustrated and I think Adobe seems to be taking this permissions issue way too lightly!
