View 3 RepliesI've been spending way too much time unsuccessfully trying to figure this out.. I'm working in Illustrator CS6, printing some artwork on A6 cardstock and it will not center, even though it is centered on the artboard and in the media preview in the print panel. I would customize the media size, but the custom command in the dropdown list in the print panel is not available (it is grayed out). I tried customizing the media size in Page Setup and that didn't work (the printer spits out blank cards). I've tried using the A6 preset size in both the Print Panel and in Page Setup, and the artwork is still offset, or worse. I've tried printer defined settings, no luck.
The main question is how to center that artwork? Also, how can I access that custom media size command?
I'm using 2 different epson printers with the same result.
The artwork centers nicely on letter-size paper.
I save a document from .ai to .pdf in CS5 and it automatically goes to the size of the artwork bounds instead of the artboard or paper size.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThere seems to be an action called adobe_SaveForWeb, but I can't find any documentation for it.
I need to export an artwork to a JPEG with a fixed size (to create a thumbnail of an Ai file), and i've found several unanswered question on this topic. With Save For Web, I can do it through UI.
a documentation for adobe_SaveForWeb, or tell me how which parameter I need to initialize for it to work? I'm using CS6 SDK with Visual C++
With the demise of my beloved Fireworks, I am giving Illustrator CC a try. Right off the bat it is unusable due to the microscopic font sizes in the UI, panels in particular. Is there any way to make the UI more readable?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have never used crop marks before. I am trying to do an Illustrator tutorial intended for CS3. The instructions say:
"Select the square, and in the Menu go Filter > Create > Crop Marks. Increase the square size to 4.125in by 3.875in. This square will be the size of our image, which is 1/8in larger than the crop marks. This ensures no white-space when you or the printers cut these labels out."
I found a way to make crop marks in CS6 using effect>cropmarks. The problem is when I increase the size of the square it also increases the crop marks. But it says in the square will be 1/8in larger than the crop marks. What am I doing wrong?
Is it possible to increase the size of the toolbar/control panel icons. I find my self craning at the screen whilst I'm getting familiar with AI cs6.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI’m a PS user new to Illustrator (CS6). In PS, using the bracket keys [] to increase/decrease brush point size will simultaneously update the data displayed in the tool panel at the top.
While I can use the bracket keys in Illustrator to change the appearance of the brush stroke, it is not being updated in the tool panel input or in the stroke window…so I can essentially have (2) 3 pt strokes created with the same brush that don’t visually match but whose display properties DO match. Because I will be doing lots of editing I certainly don’t want to work this way.
i had create a e.g a poster.
How to create a 5 poster in one file? than print out together or we can print like thumbnail
If we use excel we can create a new sheets (like sheets1 , sheets2) using the insert.. how abt photoshop?
Every time I print a photo in photoshop, a gray background appears on the entire page of the paper (except for 1/4th of an inch margin on all sides) and even though the background is set for transparent this still happens every time I print.
I think a setting of mine must be defaulted to print "white" which is coming out in gray. All I need is for all settings to be set for transparent (and to stay that way) so I can stop wasting my sublimation ink!
I have created a document, and when I printed it out to see how it turned out, I noticed that I left margins on all four sides. I need the document to fill the page in its entirety, as it is going to be one of those "tear off the phone number at the bottom" type of advertisements.
Is there some way that I can "zoom in" everything that I've created, so it fills an entire 8.5x11 piece of paper?
I'll keep digging while I wait for the wisdom of the forums. Here is a link to the .xcf: [URL] .....
Im not even sure if Illustrator is the program or if i should use Indesign but im trying to create a single folded wedding invitation and be able to print on both sides. i want the invitation to be 14cm x 14cm and like i mentioned open up like a card and print on the front and on in the inside. Can you pleasssseeee direct me to some instructions or tell me which program would be best to do this. Im guessing that since its smaller than an A4 page size then i will need to cut it down after printing. To be able to do this do i need to make the canvas the size of a A4 page and then put my size of the invitation on this??
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Recolor artwork is there a way to change the black and white colors to a color? When I try to edit them it doesn't edit them at all. It would be nice if I didn't have to manually tweak the colors to have color before I go into Recolor Artwork.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use CS4 and when working in Illustrator ( and later taking into a book in InDesign) how do I maintain custom page size with bleed in Illustrator when saving as PDF . I have been told my files are not print ready and have no bleed even though I set a bleed and accurate (custom)page size initially. It seems I lose these when I save as a PDF for Printers to use.

Apparently, in the CS3 is impossible to do any scripting and using any actions. Can it be done using plugins sdk, without creating a new document? I tried using the functions SetPageSetup and SetCropBox but no effect

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a relatively new user of Corel Draw. When using the variable data print feature, the images seen in the print preview look correct, but when the page is printed the same data is output in all 4 images. This does not happen every time. I suspect there is something going wrong with the print merge data buffer. I have not been able to reproduce the error. I have created a detailed script to for others to follow when running this job.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI usually design for the screen (72) but lately i feel that if im putting massive amounts of time/effort into a piece.... that I dont want to deny myself the option of getting it printed down the road. Now here is the catch...my camera is only 2MP. So the best i can do with that is an 8X10 @ 150dpi which isnt much (its ok quality.....i have an 11X14 @150 hanging on my wall thats decent).
So now when i go to create a new piece i dont know what size to make it. I cant jam up the ppi to far cause i dont have that kinda quality photograph...but i dont want a small document set to 72 cause if i want it res it up i get an extremely small print.
Like 2 examples...one piece i have i made 612x792 (8x10) but its at 72..so if i wanted to print it at 150 (at best) it's going to be really small (4x5... if that). Now another piece i made is 1000x1294 @72 (a large 8x10). Now with this size my 1600x1200 photographs fit fine and if i res it up to 150 i can still achieve an ok 8x5.
So now what do i do. I cant make an 8x11 @ 300 ( i dont have that kinda quality) but i hate the fact that an image i put so much work into can only print like 3x4.
I am preparing some 4-colour artwork (Text & Graphics) for printing onto canvas banners, finished size 8ft x 3ft. Never done this this big before. Surely I do not need to size the artwork in PhotoShop at that size, as the file sizes are massive?
The printer requires hi-res PDF's.
I use Sheet Set Manager to create and output sheets. Typically I will setup the pages to 24x36 and set to output to our HP.
If I want to output to 11x17 pdf, I use a page setup override and it works fine.
What I would like to be able to do is add a watermark -- using transparent text -- that says "Not to Scale" across the print when I use the page setup override.
Printed some rectangle that are 7.5 x 14.5 inches wide on the corel page on the monitor, but they did not actually print 7.5, they were about 1/4 inch smaller! the 14.5 dimension was fine. got to measuring other images I have printed and some are perfect, some are off.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make a collage which will be printed(=300 DPI) on A3(420 × 297 mm) sized paper. The images I want to take elements from for my collage are all different in size and DPI. When these elements come together they should be similar in size in order to create a new believable scene. 1 element can't be absurdly large in relation to another.
So what I did for my first image (size of 3456 × 2304 pixels, a print-size of 1219,20 × 812,80 mm and DPI 72 × 72) was increase the DPI to 600 in order to obtain a smaller printsize - reducing it to 146,30 × 97,54 mm - cut-out the elements I need and import them into my A3 document. This gave me the size I need for my elements.
However when I try to take elements out of the second image (size of 1500 × 1125 pixels, a print-size of 211,67 × 158,75 mm and DPI 180 × 180) - which I leave unchanged because 211,67 × 158,75 mm is about the size I need for the elements - and place them into the A3 document they are too small. Same story for the third image (size of 2400 × 1600 pixels, a print-size of 304,80 × 203,20 mm and DPI 200 × 200)
Which size do you use to print off a drawing that can be folded into A4 size?
