The endpoints indicated here will not connect - the connect selected endpoints tool is greyed out
I made a silhouette of buildings and I"m wanting to connect the bottom open endpoints into one straight line. The reason I'm doing this is because I want to add a fill to the silhouette as a whole instead of doing them one by one.
I tried joining paths but it can only be two open endpoints at a time. I have many open endpoints.
The pen tool only joins two open endpoints. If I try to continue to try to add another endpoint to the same line, the pen tool becomes a "minus anchor point" tool and messes up the shape of the buildings.
Of course, I thought of just making each building separate and grouping them together. However, if I do that, a issue occurs because I have certain buildings that are "in front" of each other (not in the sense of layers, but the image as a whole). I purposely made the sihlouette look like some buildlings are in front of each other and some are behind each other.
I have been using the line tool rather frequently as of late and have found it to be quite useful. More to the point, midway through lining over something my lines stopped showing endpoints to snap to when I wished to place another, resulting in some rather unpleasantly rough shapes. My question is: what did I press / change to do this, and how can I go about un-doing it?

View 2 Replies View Related kept getting the following error when I try to join two end points.
To join, you must select two open endpoints. If they are not on the same path, they cannot be on text paths nor inside graphs, and if both of them are grouped, they must be in the same group.
Here's what I have. Both paths are in the same group. I zoom to max and both ends are on top of each other. So, why am I kept getting this error message when trying to join them? I tried to Average and there is no error but yet the path is not closed.
When I select a tool such as brush or eraser the controls at the top of Illustrator do not change tot the tools setting there for I can not adjust the tools settings such as size, softness etc.... How do I fix this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a smiley face and wondering if the pen tool is the best job for this. The path looks fine and I've been filling the lines with the layer style stroke.
The problem is the path always connects the ends of the half circle. Is there to prevent the path from auto connecting so I'm just left with the anchor points I've created?
I was drawing a path in after effects and I saved the file. The next day I opened it and tried to continue drawing on that path and I could not connect to it. how to connect to the path?
View 4 Replies View Relatedafter using the crop tool in Photoshop CS6, the Presets and RGB channels options are greyed out on the curves adjustment layer, IF that layer's Properties are displaying at the time. I find I can get the options back if I open and close Curves Display Options.
I am running Windows 7 x64, AMD Radeon HD 5800 with latest drivers (same problem with older drivers).
I'm using CD X5, (I own it, not the trial download) and the Effects/Add Perspective menu choice is greyed out. ! Not selectable. I select the photo I want to change persp but the option is not available. I did reset the interface by pressing F8 upon load and it did change to default but still no perspective option.

I should add that this is the Home - Student version. Should that be any different? Nothing else has been ... yet anyway!
I've spent some time designing a chart using the table tool. Now I want to adjust some column widths and add some text.
However, the mouse keeps trailing a small table icon, and all it will let me do is insert another table. I can't enter text, or highlight a row or column, for example. Most of the right mouse click options are greyed out.
How do I change from this mode for the mouse, with the Table icon switched on, to other modes where I can do other things with the table I have already created?(If I create a new table below this existing table, all is well. However, I can't grab the content in the earlier table to paste it into the new one.)
i have been a long user of romcat... but would like to use the new corel connect. i use the folders selected to my HD folder that has all my cdr files (20yrs worth from ver 1). when i type in a search word that is in 100's of my cdr files keywords... connect doesnt display them. In romcat it does display them, even older files, with the same key word. connect only shows cdr files that have in its file name part of the search word, but seems to ignore the key words in the files.
I have all my job files with important key words within them, but the actual file names are simple job numbered names. i noticed on searches from X5 content on dvd, the files also are just numbers, but the search finds key words.
I am trying to convert a fairly simple logo to a vector for printing in t-shirts. When I did it years ago, I used live trace and emailed it off to the printer and it worked fine, this time, using the lastest version of ai, the printer keeps saying it is not a vector, despite using live trace.
The printer's website says to "place" the logo, use "select all" then use "outlines." I can place the logo, but can't select all, I try alt A and it just beeps at me.
I reinstalled Illustrator CC and for some reason the sync button on the bottom left is greyed out and so is Edit>Sync Settings. I am signed into Creative Cloud.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am creating a layout in Illustrator 13.0.2 on a Mac and trying to use the Eurostile font I purchased at the Adobe font store. When using this font "Create Outlines" is greyed out and nothing I've tried has changed this. However, when I change the font "Create Outlines" returns to a viable selection. This leads me to believe the problem lies with the font. Embedding for this font is listed as "Preview & Print" at the Adobe store - it would seem this should be sufficient. I'm certainly no Illustrator expert but there isn't anything unusual about this document.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been using adobe cs5 for a few years. If I wanted to connect the corners of two line segments, you would select the first line segment with the select tool, then switch to the direct selection tool, and drag the anchor point to the other line segment anchor point till the cursor arrow went white (signifying the other anchor point being recognized). Then you would choose "join" and it would give a nice right angle connecting the two line segments.
With adobe cs6, the direct selection tool doesn't change to white when you go over the other line segment anchor point.(Unfortunately my screen capture doesn't show the black arrowhead that you see when you are dragging with the direct selection tool to the other line segment.)
I have also attached a YouTube video link that shows what how this recognition of anchor points looks in adobe illustrator cs5, and this was exactly what I used to do when I was performing the task shown in my screen capture but with adobe.
Several functions are greyed out (unusable) when trying to Add New Fill or Create Outlines. What could be causing this?

I'm having problems with printing a color seperation. I'm working with CS5 and it won't allow me to print seperations to a pdf-file. I tried to print to an Adobe PostScript file, but also this won't allow me to select the Separations (Host-Based) or In‑RIP Separations Mode as that option is greyed out.

I made sure all colours are in cmyk and already unsuccessfully checked google for solutions, but i'm sure that i'm just missing a simple option.
I am on a MAC OS X 10.8.5. I am running Illustrator CC 17.0.0 I started a new document and created my work. I could not save as or export. There are times when the SAVE button is also greyed out. (see screenshot). I was fortunate there was a script that saves the files as a PDF under SCRIPTS. It does not matter if I start a new file or open an old one. I do not have file menu choices. I checked for updates and it states I am current.
