I am trying to use a raster image pulled of the web, in AI. As a result, (particularly when zoomed out) the edges of the image look rough & nasty.
Is there any way to fix this or at least compensate for it by smoothing the edges out?
I am having little diffilculty with rotating a layer and maintaining straight sharp edges to the layer.
Lets say I draw a solid colour rectangle, when I rotate the rectangle the edges become jagged. Is there anyway to avoid this?
I have tried various plug-ins to blur/feather the edges, but I require a sharp finish.

I have just started using the Paintshop Pro X4. In fact, I am still using the trial version and I want to use it so I can see if I want to buy it in a couple of weeks. However, I am not really very knowledgeable about computers, computer language and all the technical stuff. So things have to be pretty obvious to me.
Just for practice, I have downloaded a photo of a cherry and a leaf. Not great art, but a nice clear photograph. Of course I want it to be larger than the thumbnail image, so I have blown it up to 6"x6" Now the edge of the cherry, the leaf and the stem are all jagged. I know that is because of the pixels - but I still want to know how to get around it and smooth the edges when I enlarge something.
to make my signature that I have. However it looks terrible on a light background because the part of the car that "pops" out is very pixelated. The rounded corners are like this, too. I've tried using the blur tool to smooth it out but that doesn't seem to work here for whatever reason.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWell I am new here and this is my first post. Anyway, I made a shape with the "Polygonal Lasso Tool" and the edges are rough and I am wanting to know of a way to smooth out the roughness so I have good looking edges.
If you can give me some tips or advice.
I have been trying to figure out if there is a more efficient way of doing this for some time. It seems so basic but it always comes to play in my smoothing process.
For all you more experienced modelers, what is the best way to have the edges and corners stay at their 90 degree angles when smoothing while not compromising the roundness of the surface with artifacting or pinching in the corners. I find this problem when creating extrudes with sharp corners on curved/ round surfaces then smoothing them.
I have this idea to place a raster image from Photoshop into Illustrator, and to have an array of Illustrator shapes over this placed image, to clipping mask the raster image with the shapes, and then to move the shapes individually, each one retaining it's section of that raster image which it clipped.
I believe I'm getting the clipping part to happen, but when I move the shapes with the Direct Selection tool, the clipped contents doesn't move with it.
I think that all of my shapes, taken as a whole are clipping this raster image...am I barkin' up the wrong tree here?
cs6 image trace of psd raster file to vector (preset black & white) comes out just GREAT. but i need all that cs6 output - all black must be white. all output white must be black.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just begun using Illustrator CS6. I have a very simple image (.png file) that I would like to annotate with some arrows and some text. This file is what I guess you would consider a raster image (no vector graphics) that has a very limited color range. It has less than ten basic colors plus a gradient fill (shades of gray) in a few places.
I want to use illustrator to annotate this image with some lines with arrows and some text, but first, there are a few stray lines that I would like to eliminate. For example, there is a black line that I would like to "erase" by replacing all the black pixels in this line with white pixels. I tried to do this by selecting the "Paint Brush" tool and then selecting white as both my fill and my stroke color. After doing this, I position the cursor over the pixels I want to change but the cursor appears as a circle with a line through it, and it doesn't do anything.
We need to deploy Adobe Illustrator on the server and then call it through script so that it could convert raster image provided through script into FXG format file. The implementation is for commercial use. What is the process and possibility of getting license.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was working in Illustrator CS6 I had made a a bunch of vectors for a background and grouped them. I applied a blur to the group and was still editing the vectors within the group since then. After I saved and closed my file at the end of the day and opened it the next day my vector group is now solid. It seems like it is just a raster image? I can't edit it at all. How can I get it back? If I can't change it back I am going to have to start again!

View 18 Replies View RelatedI thought this was going to be a piece of cake in the new Illustrator CC but I am having a few unanticipated issues:)I need to create some vector tire images with different edges, such as the top one in the image below.So I thought this would be SO easy by simply creating a pattern brush in Illustrator and then using that for the outside. So I created the shape you see in the middle image below and created a pattern brush with this shape.I then created an ellipse and used the new brush for the outline.
All of those are open paths...it has taken the shape and applied it to the outline but has kept each shape separate, so I am not able to fill the circle in black. I could of course go in and manually join each little corner separately where the little shapes meet but this will take FOREVER with all the images I have to do.
Say I have an image that is sort of pixilated and rough, what is the best way to smooth it out so that it looks a bit better?

Basically when I do this, the map loses all it's detail almost as if Illustrator simplifies the map. I can't seem to work out at all how to make this while retaining the detail and export it as an eps.
Working in 2013 Raster Design. The commands for raster tools are not working. When attempting to insert an image the following message appears:
c:program filesautodeskautocad raster design 2013aeciibui56.arx cannot find a dll or other file that it needs. Unknown command "IINSERT". Press F1 for help.
Similar messages appear when trying other commands located within the Raster Tools tab.
Is there a smoothing setting for brushes? When I draw certain shapes with sharper corners (like squares) illustrator rounds them out very excessively. I know there has to be a certain amount of smoothing to convert a stroke made by the user into a vector, but is there a way to reduce the amount. Interestingly, if I draw the shape really fast, I get the desired result, however if I draw slowly, it rounds it tremendously. I would think it would be the other way around because with a slower stroke you are giving more input points and therefore more precision but this is obviously not the case. Basically, I want to achieve brush strokes that more accurately represent my input. T

well i have a problem on solving an autoCAD homework . i have a pdf with the contours of the altitude of an area and i have to rasterize it as an image in AutoCAD 2006 (i put it on windows paint , then i save it as an img (jpg) ) and then i inserted it in AutoCAD. How can I make a raster image transparent? I would like to see image #2 below image #1 by making image #1 semi-transparent. I can make one specific color in the image transparent..I am working from a scanned image in jpeg format. I would think it should be easy because any Microsoft Office program can do it. If I try to plot it as PDF, using "Adobe PDF" or "PDF-Creator" as printer, I see green areas in my PDF. Here the result:
If I use the AutoCAD Printer "DWG to PDF.pc3", there is no problem. Here the result:
For the creating of PDF files I can use the AutoCAD printer, that is no problem, but I have the same Problem if i try to plot a drawing with aerial images on a Plotter (HP 1050C) or any other printer in our office.
I'm having an issue where the more I zoom into a drawing that has a raster image (a 1mb jpg) in it, regenerating times become increasingly long until the whole program just freezes. When I zoom back out, it's fine.
I've tried changing the file type, saving it with a different program, lowering the quality to Draft, zooming in on an area that the raster image wasn't in, lowering the DPI of the image, nothing works. I've spent the last two hours searching Google for a fix, found nothing. The only thing that seems to work is if I put the image on a layer and freeze it. The problem there is, I'm tracing over the image, so it being invisible makes it rather difficult to work with.
I'm still learning some of the basics in the AutoCAD Map features. Most of my work has been using a map that is connected to data. My raster image is connected to a Sid file which covers more area than I usually need to work with.
What is the best way to work with a small area at a time? I cannot seem to imageclip the connected raster image.
How would I copy a gradient from another image. I mean I have a logo I need to extend, the background in the image is a gradient. Now i cant get the gradient for the extended background to match this one. The logo is already a flat image, I dont have the layered PSD.
