I want to create a custom color swatch panel for Illustrator. But I cant figure out a way to add swatches to the panel and drag/drop them into file.
Any example or the steps required to build such a panel. I've created a panel using CS Extension builder but cant figure out how to populate it with swatches.
We just got illustrator cs6 in our office. I was given a book and told to learn it, but WOW, it is not easy.
I feel like an idiot asking a question that should be basic, but I swear I have been seaching all over the place and can't find the answer.
I have an issue with Illustrator CS6, running on 10.6.8. I'll have an object selected, and I'll be using my Swatches panel to edit the colour of the object's fill, let's say. Then I will want to edit the colour of the stroke – as soon as I hit the stroke square in my toolbox, the Swatches panel disappears and the Color panel jumps out instead. I have to close the Color panel, and then reopen the Swatches every single time. Workspace: "Essentials" I don't have the Auto Collapse Iconic Panels on...

I was always able to do this before. (should be simple...) I made a gradient and just want to save / add it to a Swatch Panel that I've already defined and saved. I used to be able to drag (I think) the gradient into the desired Swatch Panel and then 'save the swatch again' It won't let me do this today even though I just did it last night!
I'm working on a Windows 7 machine and I am using Illustrator CS5....
The Illustrator swatch panel is far more advanced and user-friendly than the PS version, i.e. create swatch folders, move and delete colours from anywhere in the order etc.
I'm increasingly surprised that Adobe haven't improved it with new releases (I am now using CC software and still nothing).
Are there any plans to match the Illustrator functionality?
I have created a swatch panel with my own colours - named "custom 1" in CS6...how to add a new colour to "custom 1" at a later stage? Surely once you create a custom swatch panel, it can have colours added to it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a big custom swatch library that I'm continually making additions and corrections to. I have it set as persistent, and the library works fine, but it doesn't update when I make changes to it. As far as I can tell, it's still stuck at the point where I upgraded to CC a few months ago. I've tried unchecking persistent, closing the library and Illustrator, then reopening and reinstalling the library, and it's still reverting to the old version.

I've been looking for scripts online that would create a color swatch legend to list the colors used in my illustrator file. I found this (see below) and tweaked it to place properly on my particular page, but it adds everything in my swatches panel to the legend. Ideally, I'm looking for a piece of script to add that would only add used swatches to the legend, or a script that would only add spot colors to the legend.

I created a line (stroke). I am following along with the Pluralist Brochrue creation video tutorial. I cannot click on the stroke weight options in the toolbar, I cannot select or make changes to the swatch panel options, even though the line is selected.

I have been using AutoCAD 2006. Our company is switching to AutoCAD 2012 LT. I want to be able to add my custom toolbar buttons from the 2006 to the 2012 LT custom Ribbon Tabs & Panels. I have figured out how to make the custom ribbon, tab and panel. I just haven’t figured out what I need to do to get the old stuff to where I can add them to the panels.

I was wondering about custom color swatch formats. Specifically in an ancient version of Photoshop (like 3.5) in addition to the preset swatches, there used to be a blank "scratch pad" type palette feature where you could put colors and smoosh them around just like a real artists palette then pick colors from there....is there anyway to do this in Photoshop 7 without creating a separated doc?
Also, you used to be able to create a swatch palette based on the colors in a given image by going to mode>indexed color ....that doesn't seem to be working for me...
I want to create a small custom set of extended uppercase characters for a company logo.
I am starting with H&FJ's Idle wild and then extending it even further. I'm initially squashing it vertically to 75%. This looks as bad as you'd imagine - the contrast of the letter forms is distorted (the horizontal lines look too thin compared to the vertical lines). However my earlier rough attempt to mimic the original contrast (ratio of width of vertical lines to horizontal lines is approximately 7:6) created something that I'm fairly happy with.
(Note that whilst I have now purchased Idle wild, I initially copied sample text from the H&FJ website and used Illustrator's trace function to create what is shown below, which explains the rather random bezier point placement. Incidentally I actually quite like some of the quirks this introduced to the letter forms - in particular the terminals of the S and the top of the A)

Some of these (HT) are easy to fix manually. But in particular the round letters (COS) require a bit more thought.
I'm pretty sure back 15 years ago I could have got most of the way there quickly with CorelDRAW. From memory there was an option to use strokes ('outlines' in Corel terminology) which weren't uniform height and width. So in this instance I'd create a 'nib shape' for the stroke which was much taller than it was wide, and applying this to the letterforms would restore the contrast to roughly that of the original. (I know that typographers don't simply do something like this to create different weights of a typeface, but for my purposes I suspect it would get me most of the way there and then I could tweak it visually.)
The only wasy I can see to alter the stroke shape in Illustrator is via the Profile dropdown in the stroke dialog options, but this seems to be purely for 'artisitc' effect and entirely inappropriate for my purposes.
I'm working on a project where I am colorizing roughly 20 images using gradient maps with two different swatches from a color scheme of eight swatches. I'd like to create a color swatch library that I can access and also change out swatches easily so that if the client doesn't like a particular color, I could change that swatch and it would automatically change in all the files using that color library. (The gradient maps would be created by using an adjustment layer, not done to the actual image, if that makes a difference.) Is this possible? Normally I colorize grayscale .psd files directly in InDesign, but the image contrast and clarity is much better when adjusting the color in Photoshop.

for example, you find an image online and like the color scheme. You can do create a new swatch that has all the colors in that image only.
To create a special effect (but not TOO garish!) I'd like to change this brownish meadow so that it looks much more like one of the swatches from my color swatches panel.
Do I need to create a new adjustment layer, or are there other approaches? Below is a screen shot.
My CorelMacros.CreateColorSwatch macro has stopped dumping the swatches into whatever blank Letter-sized document I have open (which is how it used to work) and instead it is creating a new document, at 4.25" wide x 7" high, and dumping the swatches into that. Using Pantone Solid Coated, but it's doing this regardless of what palette I choose.
There is no option in the Macro's dialog box to alter or even instantiate a page size, and I cannot find in the code of the macro where to set this variable.

I spent quite a bit of time a while back creating a custom tab panel, which displayed a collection of Lisp macros and other commands. It was set up to roll up out of sight when not needed, to give me back on-screen real estate. It has now vanished for no apparent reason. I am the only person using this machine, so I don't think it's related to any issue with changing profiles.
When I take a look inside the CUI interface I see that this tab and panel are configured with a "yes", indicating that they should be shown as part of my workspace. I've unlocked the on-screen CUI display before going to the CUI dialogue. I've also manually turned off the display of this tab and panel, then turned them on and hit "apply", before exiting the dialogue, all of this to no avail.
Is it possible to create a custom Cladding Panel in Revit Architecture, whereby the panel shows elements of both solid extrusion and void extrusions?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI opened a PDF in Illustrator and it has 4 Spot color swatches. Two of them will not delete or let me alter them and I need to change them to CMYK. I've tried reopening the document, restarting my computer and copying and pasting everything into a new document. Nothing has worked for me. I've also tried selecting everything, and going to Edit > Edit Colors > Convert to CMYK ... and then making a new color group (with global checked.) Still won't let me edit the two problem swatches. I then went to "Select all unused" from the swatch panel (thinking they would at least get selected because all of the colors should link to my new global color group) and the two problem swatches did NOT get selected. I've tried deleting all the links (thinking maybe the spot color was tucked in an eps file or something.) No objects are locked and none of the layers are locked.

The Safty Nut file has installed itself somewhere?? If I double click on the folder Illustrator starts up an the nuts are there in a window but when I close Illustator and restart Illustratior and look for it in the swatch folders it dose not show up?
