Is there any way to create a custom detail line which will be a dashed line (similar to Hidden) as well as containing arrows every "X" feet or inches. i am attaching an image that is what i would like to create so i don't draw from scratch.
I would like for it to function as a line, spline, shape, whatever the needs may be.
Is there a way to create a custom fascia in Revit Architecture 2012? I am trying to create a 3/4" thick metal panel on 3-5/8" metal stud that is 2'-6" tall.

I select the floor, click edit material, select ceramic tile,.. get to the graphics property, select surface pattern and select 12" tile, click done, then OK but ... nothing happens.
I would also like to customize a pattern. I would like to create a patter that uses a 12"X12" tile with (2) 5 7/8"X5 7/8" tiles.
I tried to use the *.PAT technique but finding it difficult to do what I want so I found the hatch22 but still find that rather difficult.
I am trying to create a custom pattern by editing the PAT file but I can't seam to get it right The pattern is for a ceiling tile in which the pattern is 4 tiles (24''x96) follow by 1 Tile (4''x96)

I want to be able to add my custom toolbar buttons from the 2006 to the 2012 LT custom Ribbon Tabs & Panels. I have figured out how to make the custom ribbon, tab and panel. I just haven’t figured out what I need to do to get the old stuff to where I can add them to the panels.
I have custom 2006 buttons with and without flyouts.
I am trying to create a custom curtain wall which will contain vertical strapping for the vertical mullions and horizontal wood boards. I created the two profiles and am able to create the curtain wall type control spacing etc...This looks great in elevation and plan, but when I cut a section detail the vertical strapping is cut at every horizontal mullion.
My question in short! If I want to create the look of continuous horizontal boards how can I prevent the vertical mullions from being cut? I'd rather not offset them apart so I can use this model element in details. See the section detail view attached.
I am having trouble making the cladding on this building look good enough for a presentation! I want to put like glass facade on curved areas.

Just digging into 2012 and I can't seem to locate a custom toolbar UI. I have a set of customizations that I distribute to my group thru a shared drive and we are used to them all being in one place, in every environment. It appears that in order to do this I have to customize the ribbon tabs for each environment individually and manually? That can't be the case though, very counterproductive, there must be another way.

I spent quite a bit of time a while back creating a custom tab panel, which displayed a collection of Lisp macros and other commands. It was set up to roll up out of sight when not needed, to give me back on-screen real estate. It has now vanished for no apparent reason. I am the only person using this machine, so I don't think it's related to any issue with changing profiles.
When I take a look inside the CUI interface I see that this tab and panel are configured with a "yes", indicating that they should be shown as part of my workspace. I've unlocked the on-screen CUI display before going to the CUI dialogue. I've also manually turned off the display of this tab and panel, then turned them on and hit "apply", before exiting the dialogue, all of this to no avail.
I want to create a custom color swatch panel for Illustrator. But I cant figure out a way to add swatches to the panel and drag/drop them into file.
Any example or the steps required to build such a panel. I've created a panel using CS Extension builder but cant figure out how to populate it with swatches.
I'm replacing my "standard" end marks with my own logo for when clients are in the studio to view image. What is a good general size for them that isn't too large? How many pixels wide (and yes i know it depends partially on how wide I have the panels set, but for the default settings on the program on a 23" moniter) is best to start with?

how to make some sort of basic-custom geometric shape and control that shape parametrically, like the built-in "Box", "Sphere" and "Cylinder" objects.

If I'm creating a component in place, say a cabinet door, and it's elevation is an L shape (or any custom shape - this is for a wall of cabinetry with odd-shaped panels), why, under 'Edit Extrusion', do I have to draw each custom shaped extrusion profile with these goofy single lines? The command doesn't even continue in a sensible way.
Every so often while i'm working in Revit the Ribbon/panel bottoms disappear. Even when toggling threw the options i can only get some of it to reappear. I attached what it looks like and when i toggle through the options.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can place a solar panel on the roof, but cannot do anything with it. When I try to tilt it from upright, it turns yellow and says "cannot rotate" . Been stuck on this problem for a week now, and am quite frustrated as you can imagine. Have tried every trick that I and others have suggested to no effect. Seems to be constrained to one of my vertical reference lines. Reference line is listed as the "host", but it's greyed out, so I can't change it. Tried to disassociate from reference line, but can't.
Went in to "family" and noticed that there's and extrusion underneath the panel (invisible when placing the panel). Don't know what it's there for, or if this has anything to do with it. I can't delete or modify it.
I've also tried to create my own solar panel, but can't figure out how to save it as "my own" family.
I simply want to tilt the panel back about 35 degrees. I've tried to tilt it in all different views. Sometimes I can get it to tilt along the wrong axis, never on the one I want it to. Is there any way I can create my own panel with a sketch program, import it into Revit, and save it as a component?
I created one panel family. On plan view, I added two parameter for just width and lenght (Picture 1), but at the same time, I cannot added parameter for adjust the angle in the elevation plan(Picture 2) .

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to work up a standard curtain wall type for our office, and have hit a snag with a curtain wall panel.
I'm trying to make a panel which will feature a louvre profile, that will sit in the curtain wall opening nice and neat, and array the required height of the panel.
I've made up a generic object, inserted that into a CW panel, then got that into my CW OK, and it flexs fine, but if I try and do an array then it all falls apart?
As far as I've got attached, all I can get to work properly is to have the top and bottom louvre, if I turn this into an array it extends outside the bounds of the CW panels left/right reference plans.
I also have tried to do the array based on a division, e.g. 2000/50 = array number, but to do this I need a height, and when I try and put a height in it becomes overconstrained...
I'm teaching myself Revit LT 2013. When I got to the lesson about providing slope in floors for drain, the text directed me to the "shape editing" panel in my ribbon. However, when I selected the floor I found that there isn't a shape editing panel in my ribbon. I ran into the same problem when I attempted to construct sloped roof for drainage. Is this panel hiding somewhere?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can place a solar panel on the surface of the roof (flush with roof surface), but cannot tilt it up. No matter what I try, an error message comes up saying "can't rotate element into this position".Have tried creating new panel, renaming it, etc. The panel seems to have a constraint of some sort that I cannot override.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a curtain wall profile loaded into a project. When I change the panel in a CW to the profile that I loaded, the new panel is 5/8" short on both sides. As you can see in the attached image, on the left side of the plan view, the panel is 5/8" short of the cw grid line - there is no mullion there. On the right side, the panel is 5/8" short of where the mullion crosses the reference plane in the mullion .rfa file. The system panels on either side terminate correctly.
This isn't specific to any project; it works (or doesn't work) in any file. There are no horizontal mullions in the file shown. How to get the profile to extend properly?
The manual says To create a quad set:
1. Choose Customize menu Customize User Interface Quads tab.
2. Click New. The New Quad Set dialog appears.
3. Enter the name of the quad set and click OK. The new set appears in the Quad set list.
To add a command to a quad set:
1. Choose Customize menu Customize User Interface Quads tab.
2. Choose the quad set you want to edit from the upper-right drop-down list. If you want to change the name of the quad set, click Rename and enter a new name in the Rename Quad Set dialog.
3. Select the quadrant where you want to place the command. You can edit the name of the quadrant by changing the text in the Label area.
4. Choose the appropriate Group and Category from the respective drop-down lists.
5. Choose a command from the action list and drag it into the Quad Menu window. Use the same procedure to add menus and separators to your quad set. There is no clue about how to make a sub menu with commands inside like the one in the picture.
There is no Project Panel when I capture clips to Premiere Pro CC. There is only a Media Browser so how do I create a Project Panel if there is not one already?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to build a curtain wall panel family (see attached). I want the extremities of the solids to be glued to the surrounding frame. I want to be able to scale the model inside the frame with different curtain wall panel system sizes. 5'x4', 6'x8' etc... I am having problems with restricted constraints. I do not know what I am doing wrong. the model inside the panel are created from soild extrusions. if I align the solid extrusion from one side of the frame , only that side will grow or shrink with frame, and makes the model look weird. I tried to group the solids with reference lines in them glued to the reference line grid i created in the panel and that did not work. I want to be to scale proportionally the model inside the panel.
