View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working in Illustrator CS5 and I want to know if it is possible to copy and paste an effect like a drop shadow. For example, let's say I create a document with some text which has a drop shadow on it and some without the effect. Next I create text in a different font with a different drop shadow effect (different settings for the drop shadow attributes). Later in the project I decide, I want to go back and add the first effect to several objects and/or text in my image. Is there a way to copy that effect and paste it in?
I know that I can go in and manually copy the settings of the effect I want to copy, add the effect to a new object, and then re-apply the effect from that point, but is there a way to simplify the process by just copying the effect?
When I create text in Illustrator and add a drop shadow it becomes "unedtable"? CS 6 version
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a jpg image that I use multiple times in an illustrator file, and I wanted to be more efficient by making it into a symbol. So I embedded the image, made it a symbol, then updated my Illustrator file, replacing the instances of that image with the symbol-version of the image. I then tried to add a drop shadow effect to one of those symbols. Although the effect was listed on the appearance menu, it didn't actually show up visibly on the screen. However, if I added a non-shadow effect to the symbol (e.g. blur .1 pixel) then added a drop shadow, the shadow would then appear. Oddly, I have other images that I have made into symbols where this problem does not occur. Perhaps it's some weird image format issue?
I've included a jpg export below, showing the problem. I've also put the original .ai file up on my Google docs folder here: [URL] ........
I'm using Illustrator CS6 trial version (16.0.3 64 bit). on a Win 8-64 laptop.
I'm using Illustrator CC although I haven't tried doing this in earlier versions. When I copy text that has a drop shadow made with "effect/stylize/drop shadow" the drop shadow is editable from the Appearance pallet only in the original document. In the pasted document the drop shadow is there but does not show up in the Appearance pallet so I can't edit it. It shows up on a different layer so I can delete it but then I have to create an editable shadow from scratch on the new document. When I copy objects that are not text with drop shadow, the editiability remains, but it doesn't seem to work with text unless I create outlines of the type and then I lose the editability of the text. Is there any way to copy drop shadows that are editable on text?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an object with a drop shadow. I want to rotate the object and the drop shadow 90 degrees. But when I rotate the object, the drop shadow does not rotate along with the object.
How to lock the drop shadow so that it will rotate with the object. p.s. I already know how to change the angle of the drop shadow.
I just need to be able to have the glow or shadow around the object, but no fill or stroke at all.

I am wondering if it is linked to lens profiles, as it appears to have started since I have begun using the Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens.
If I drag an effect from the target circle of one object to anther in the layer's panel it replaces the effect along with all appearance. But I want just to add the effect. For example, a layer has a drop shadow and a path, round corners. I want to move the drop shadow from the layer to the path so that the path now has the round corners and the drop shadow. To do this I have to open the shadow effect of the layer wright down its parameters, then create a shadow effect for the path with the same parameters which is a lot of work.

It is called "Kids of the King" and I have an eps of a crown and I want to hang the crown off the K in the word King. I am trying to make it where the back half of the crown is hidden behind the K so it gives the effect of it hanging off the edge of the letter.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen adding a grain pattern effect to an object in Illustrator CS6 I get an odd bevel that surrounds the object. There is nothing in the Appearance window to suggest that there should be a bevel and I didn't add it myself.
Is there some setting I am missing or an easy way to remove the effect? For now I am masking the object with a slightly smaller object but it's starting to drastically increase the size of my file.
I have used gimp for years, and never tried to remove a blue cast from an image. I have several images I have shot over the years, of winter scenes, now I want to see them in "normal" colors. I tried a couple of plugins and gimp operations, but I have no real good results.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 4 layers on a transparent canvas. Each of the layers overlaps the other and has a drop shadow on the layer behind it.
Looks just the way I want it -- except the shadow not only hits the layer behind it -- but also the canvas area.

I am running CS5 and would like to remove a shadow on the grass. The photo is attached and the shadow is to the lower right of the photo (this was the handler's arm).
I've tried the clone tool but it didn't look realistic, tried content aware -- that didn't work either. Tried selecting and using the hue/sat slider to lighten it -- that was terrible. I am going to try a quick mask and see if that will work.

I have a picture of a girl in a dress. The background is white(ish) and some of the girl's dress is white as well as her blouse.
If I select the magic eraser tool the background is viped out, but parts of the skirt and shirt get wiped out as well... I've read somewhere how to solve this problem, selecting only certain "ranges" of a colour, so that not all the different whites' get erased...
Have also created some text and have added a drop shadow.. is there any way to get the drop shadow to be another colour than grey (i.e. green, pink, blue)..?
How did they do the shadow effect ?
