I am trying to use the Mesh Tool, but it appears to be inactive. The cursor looks like a cross with a small crossed circle nets to it (like a "do not pass" road sign). I do not know what I did wrong. In Preferences I have "Object selection by path only" deselected, so it can't be it.

If I draw a path with the pen tool and later want to reactivate it, clicking the last anchro point to make the path active severs one of its control handles. Specifically the handle that is for the curve that is yet to be drawn. And after that I have to use the Convert Anchor Point tool to recreate both control handles and try to math the already existing one to its former place.
How can I fix this?
I'm having this strange issue with the Photoshop type tool in Photoshop CS5. It might be, although I'm not sure, a bug. The tool itself is working and lets me add text and edit. But the box that shows up when editing text (and the blinking line that shows where I am in the text) - has gone invisible. I am having this issue in only one document. - I tested the type tool on other documents, and everything was normal. I've looked up shotcuts and hotkeys to check if I've tapped a key or something, but it doesn't appear to be so.
Now about the document; it does have quite the amount of text layers, and a lot of text in them. I've tried resetting the type tool, and I've restarted the program.
When I restart the program, the tool works as it's supposed to - but after editing or adding a new text layer, the editing area is gone again! Is this a bug, or have I touched keys that do odd things?
I somehow turned on the Mesh feature and when I click on the "X" it does not close it.
1. How do you close this?
2. Does this tool apply only to the selected piece of art or to everything on screen?
I am trying to sample color of a photo on a lower layer in a gradient mesh layer above. It doesn't work in Illustrator CS6, but it works in CS4.

Is there any way to sample all of the color points with the gradient mesh tool all at once rather than using the eyedropper one by one on each point??

I use Maya 2011 (of course) Zbrush and 3d Coat. I have the problem in 3d coat and tried it in Blender and the problem occurred on both while on zbrush it appears fine.

I understand that CS Live is dead, but my Illustrator CS5 seems to be always "phoning home" and making my current document inactive until I click on the Illustrator desktop. This happens any time I pause using Illustrator for just a few minutes. Is this really a CS Live issue?Is there a setting that will keep my open Illustrator document from going inactive on me?

I've imported my reference material to a bottom layer and am recreating the text and graphics on layers above it. The reference photos I have been supplied with have a number of problems and most I have been able to fix in PhotoPaint. (Horizontal and vertical shear distortion). However, the 'fish-eye' distortion created by the camera lens is proving difficult to surmount. I have tried using the Mesh Warp tool but the ridiculously small workspace window it generates makes it impossible to render accurate changes to the image. Is there a way to coax PhotoPaint to create a larger working space to increase its accuracy.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an assembly that has somewhere a hole with a round bar that exactly fits in this hole. But when meshing the assembly, the mesh of the hole and the mesh of the bar are different.
The result is that the different parts do only seem to touch each other at the edges of the mesh, resulting in high stresses.

I tried to made a derived part from the assembly, but that one does not finish meshing. After 48 hours, the progress bar is still half way. While the one above did finish in about 15 minutes. What can I do to make the meshes match?
When a pdf is taken from illustrator, white lines appears on images. How can be avoided it?
I use illustrator cs5. It occures mostly on the cover pages of brochures which contains images, texts and some effects such as drop shadow etc.
This image appears to have jagged edges on all of the paths. I created outlines for the text and converted strokes to path, but i can not seem to figure out how to make the image's path edges appear smooth. The image above is a png file but the image still appears this way when i view the ai version in illustrator.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I draw an object in Illustrator, the shape appears filled in the view of the document, even though it is set to no fill in the apprearance panel. The thumbnail for the object in the layers panel shows it with no fill, and if I copy it and paste it into Photoshop it has no fill there, so it really has no fill. Just in the view of the document where I am drawing it appears with a colored fill.
I'm drawing lots of overlapping shapes, I want them with no fill so I can see the ones behind. This is happening with all the tools I have tried: pen, pencil, paintbrush, shapes, whatever. I've tried restarting Illustrator, also restarting my computer, nothing changes. I may have clicked on some setting inadvertently somewhere, as I've been exploring and clicking on lots of things to see what they do.
I designed a text document in illustrator and it looks great...in illustrator. As soon as I export it to a PNG, an annoying outline around text appears.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've built a 3D cylinder shape in Illlustrator and have applied plastic shading. Looks OK in Illustrator, but when imported into InDesign or opened in Photoshop, it appears to be partially transparent AND what looked to be smooth shading in Illustrator appears as a strange pattern in PS and InD, etc.We're getting close to final and this will be printing as it's a logomark.Is there something I'm missing that would make this shape a solid shape (instead of appearring to be transparent) and reproduce well? I just want it to look in PS and InD (and on paper) the way it looks in Illustrator.

This is Maya 2011 on Mac OS X Lion.
A label that I've created in Illustrator isn't mapping onto a can in 3D revolve
1. Traced the side of a can using the pen tool, and turned it into a 3D object using revolve (NOTE: I haven't applied any stroke to it, just a white fill - otherwise, Map Art wouldn't even open, it would just say " Artwork produced no surfaces for artwork mapping.")
2. Dragged the label into symbols
3. Clicked on the side of the can, opened 3D revolve, and clicked preview
4. Clicked Map Art, selected the appropriate surface
5. Selected the label from the symbols, scaled it, and clicked preview
When nothing happened, I tried everything: It wouldn't show in Invisible Geometry, so it can't be on the inside of the surface. When I tried Shade Artwork (slower), the whole program just shut down right away...
Interestingly, when I selected a vector symbol, it appeared on the surface perfectly...any thoughts on what that could be?
